Default Most of DDO Dead? (Not a 'Doom' Post. Kind of a survey.)

But it could easily turn into a 'doom' post, with the responses. I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks.

With the recient Mod 5 implement, every instance but Necropolis is a ghost town. Even the Marketplace is considerly empty. I personally don't think it was this bad in gianthold, but who knows, could very well be.

The questions is. Do you really think it wil return to normal? Or is Gianthold, and virutally all other quests a forgotten memory?

I ask because it takes me two hours to actually form a Non-necropolis party, no matter the quest. People will not do Prison of the Planes on elite anymore on Kyber.

Granted, it is still early, but given the farming needed in Necropolis, (more so than gianthold. Gianthold was just relics, Necropolis is a plethoria of stuff.) the new content, and generally just the sheer time sink of it all...is the rest of DDO going to be harder to gather a party to explore?

    I personally miss Gianthold.

Ask this question in a month. Most people are playing the new stuff right now and as a result the other zones are being ignored.

Aye, just before Mod 5 came out I noticed one evening there were two instances of both the harbor and the marketplace. Haven't noticed that since the Mod came out, but I'm sure it will come back again.

So far, in my fairly limited playing time my quests have been:

Day 1: Prison of the Planes.
Day 2: Prison of the Planes x7 as we farmed for Kardin's eye.
Day 3: Last half of Feast or Famine. A Cabal for One.
Day 4: Tomb of the Shadow Knight. Tomb of the Shadow Lord.
Day 5: Prison of the Planes.

All groups were acquired through the LFM system and were full within minutes of my joining. In addition, I've seen two LFMs for the Reaver pre-raid (on two different days), a Tempest Spine group, a Crucible group and a whole heck of a lot of groups looking for members lower than 14th.

This is a good one, gonna see if I can remember my last 5 days.

Day 1: Desecrated Temple of Vol, WW, STK, Tangleroot Part 4 through completion, Reaver Raid
Day 2: Tomb of the Shadow Knight, Desecrated Temple of Vol
    Day 3: VoN 1 - 4, STK
Day 4: Desecrated Temple of Vol, Gianthold Tor
Day 5: Reaver Raid, Von 5-6, Inferno of the Damned, Desecrated Temple of Vol

Yeah, I know, I like the Temple of Vol to much. It's easy, almost lvl 1 easy, and I like the loot I get out of there. I need to give it a rest so I am not ransacked any more.

Unless I am raiding or playing a lowbie, I am 90% in the new area (unless I need to sell things and I am willing to make that special trip to House D and House K). Hey, it is all new stuff and the rest of DDO is old stuff. I want to experience the new stuff.

    Default this is the problem

i believe your post plus another i remember from a Khyber player (he stated that over 75% of the players on the WHO list were 14 one night) demonstrates that most players are capped on at least one toon

therefore, i hope mod 6 knocks our socks off, & raises the level cap to at least 18 or this game is in more trouble than it already is currently with the 3 month wait for new content

after awhile, when you are capped, you tire of looting, you do not want to create any more builds & run tangleroot again (although, the first time in that quest was awesome like most of this game)

The way loot is being handed out in Necropolis, you might see a return to GH as the glitz of the new area begins to fade. I have heard rumblings of it already.

Personally, once I cherry-pick all of the loot I want from Necropolis, including favor, I will NEVER go back.

Dude we are sick of Elf relics, PoP Orbs, Blue Scales, Red Hearts, Yellow Stars, and Green Clovers.

Give it a month or two and we will be sick of tome pieces, shield pieces, sigil pieces, tapestries and so on and so forth.

To the OP welcome to MMOs'. Its been this way in every game I could think of. Even seen the other games encourage this by adding bonuses to XP or loot tables for running the new content, or desired content of the month. Not needed here, people automatically move to where the new content is because there is new stuff. Old stuff they have already. New stuff is often better than old stuff. New players to the game will probabley end up skipping alot of content to catch up with old players, and then there will be a phase of nestalgia about content. Like "remember when velah would throw you out of the instance?".

If DDO don't move up and move on then it will die..

Yah khyber has definitely seen an increase in low level stuff. Late last night (11pm pst and later) there were multiple harbors.
