    Default Von 6 Bug?

So we finally got a bunch of guild folks Dragon ready and ran Von 5 and 6 last night.

We were aware of the changes to Von 6 (no more running the bases) and were able to bring the pillars down. We had one fighter at each base, with a caster on each base pad to lay down crowd control. Other than forgetting to put electric resist on the fighter at 2nd who was fighting the air mephits (whoops) it went pretty smoothly.

Until, we went up to Velah and found the force shield still up.

The pillars were all destroyed (even went back and checked), but it just wouldn't come down.

A few folks thought they saw it down as we ran to Velah and saw it then pop back up. We wondered if it came up because we all ran as a group to Velah from home at the same time???

I sent a DM request and was told (after we had been booted because time ran out) that it was a bug. But the DM didn't exactly inspire confidence so I'm asking here...

Was this a bug, or did we screw up by all running at the same time? And if you can fail by doing that I think the design should change.

    Thanks.

The force barrier drops instantly when you destroy the pillars together. If the barrier didn't drop, then yes, that was a bug.

Yeah, my question is whether the force barrier is supposed to come back if the entire party approaches it at the same time - after it's come down.

I didn't notice it, but a couple of guildies said they thought it was down as we all ran up, but then it popped back up as we got closer.

    Nope it shouldn't.

It comes back up once you agro velah. If you just pass the barrier and don't touch the rocky part, you should be fine, no matter what fashion you aproach in.

    Sounds like a bug.

Didn't you check/notice if the 3 beams of light coming from the pillars also went out? If not perhaps the timing of killing the pillar was off and that messed up somehow.

One other quick thought, I know that you can target the pillars from where the force field is, so is it possible that after the pillars fell that somebody targeted Velah and somehow aggrod her while approaching? I'm not sure if it is even possible, but it might be. I could see possibly see someone targeting her and maybe launching a missle attack that comes close enough to do it. Like I said, just a thought.

Thanks for the thoughts. The beams of light were all gone - and I even ran to all the bases to make sure the pillars were no longer targetable.

So it must have been a bug (unless someone ranged her before we got to the barrier). I'll have to let people know not to even try to engage her until everyone is there.

The group was actually pretty upbeat about the whole thing. As a couple of people said, the Von 5 and (partial) Von 6 runs were still fun.

This is what happened to you.

Its why you dont run up to the pitchers mound after the barrier goes down. Its better to have people at the barrier already and the pillar killers sneak up to the barrier once its down.

If she agros even once. The barrier goes back up, raid over.

Its why you follow these rules.
    - Dont target her ever. Until your ready to charge.
    - Turn off autoattack. One errant arrow flying is enough to mess it all up.
    - If you run UP to the pitchers mound from home, she will agro you and the barrier will go up. So dont do that anymore.

If all that was followed and the barrier went back up. Well that may be bug.

Thanks. Have you run it since the change. I heard that leaving folks at the pitchers mound isn't a good idea anymore. Not sure why.

As an aside, this is why I hate this type of quest, it makes no sense. You have to know the tricks or you simply fail.

Anyway, with the changes, you have the pillar killers as well as 2 or 3 casters to get up there. I guess next time we'll have them all sneak up. But again, that's just silly. And if it's really that easy to aggro her, they should change the quest.

As a result of the horrible, horrible design of VoN 6, I actually feel better about the end result when the group fails than I do when the group succeeds.

Beating the quest seems so cheesy and cornball that I feel like I'm exploiting something when I accept the end rewards.

Plus, when we fail I know I don't have to worry about flagging to run VoN 5 again should I want to.
