That's not complaining about what the splash screen says, it's complaining about Turbine not releasing content on time.
There's nothing wrong with saying "coming in August" but there is when the module is delayed by a month
My point is, by now they should have a pretty good idea of whether an update will come out in October or not. So why not let us know? If they REALLY want to be that freaky about the release date, just say "coming soon" but at least tell us what's coming soon and give us an approximate release date on the forums...

That isn't a valid point though. You cannot say "it wouldn't be a big deal to miss a month but the splash screen said so" because if the date was not on the splash screen the month cannot be "missed". You cannot miss a date if you never set one (at least publicly). I have read those threads very closely. One of them (the first one of the kind) was about how a release was delayed and no one was told about it. The release got delayed, the splash screen didn't get updated and then Quarion just came out and said "oh, btw, we never meant to release it on that date...". That problem lies in the lack of communication and misleading communication, not the splashscreen. The others were about Mod 5 being delayed. Mod 5 was meant to be out in september and got delayed, people complained. It's that simple.
Plus, all of you are focusing on the release date portion of the sneak preview but at this point we have NOTHING. No release date, no information, no release name no nothing. So as much as that is a problem, it is only part of the problem.
Then they do what they did for Mod 5. Publicly announce the delay on the forums and change the splashscreen to reflect the delay for those who do not check the forums. The problem of delaying a mod is completely different from that of not telling us anything about it.Unfortunately in the software business, there are no guarantees. If they put something up that doesn't make it due to something that gets found on Risia or in QA and has to be pushed back to the next mod, what then?

That is untrue. Usually when risia gets it's last update for a module it gets a new splashscreen. That is what happened with this one, except the loading screen didn't have any text on it. Then risia was updated once more and the loading screen taken off until it reappeared on the live servers.
Yes, and it's often about the module that's being released. Sometimes it's not. 3.3 went right into 4.0 because they were well planned and so close together. But often it is. 3.0 went from 3.0 Marilith to 3.0 PvP and stayed that way for several weeks after 3.0 went live.

If there is not going to be another update, ever/this year/in the next two months, I would like to know now.
The splash screen is the best advertising that Turbine can do to keep the current players. We all know that there is no other advertising to bring in new players so it is important that DDO retains the current players.
Will we stay if there is no more content to come?
IMO no.......
Jesus saves but only Buddha makes incremental backups.
ok i see alot of people saying that turbine missed there timetable for dropping mod 5 but thats not true it went live in september it doesnt say september first it said september and its only the 2nd of october now so if the say something is dropping in october it doesnt meen tommorow you guys cant assume a date for something that says coming soon or dropping this month coming soon can mean any time frame "soon" is an advertisers word its empty take halo 3 for example on the first display models for gamefuel it just said coming soon they didnt put the date on the first 1000 display models or so just some advice when you complain about things you cant controll i personnaly like that the devs are careful about how much effort they put into a game if you dont like it and want something else go lplay wow its plenty buggy or how about one of the dozen or so free games
how about give them more time so they dont screw up as much as recent updates? be patient!
I didn't want to make another post here but that is just blatantly false. You seem to think people were mad about the Mod 5 delay because it came out in late September instead of early September... Mod 5 was first meant to be released in August, they changed the loading screen to reflect that change.
Oh and wizzy, I'm trying my very best to be patient, but maybe if they just gave us a little teaser to get us excited about the future it would make it easier to be patient. Right now all I have is a mod that I don't really like so it's hard to just sit around and be patient while doing the quests I've been doing since april
And there's no way I'm rolling a new toon I rolled some 7 since mod 4, (only 4 of which survived but I put in a lot of time into the others)
