How long to summoned arrows last? Do you lose them when you exit a dungeon etc?

So a tank carrying 6 or more full sets of armor definitely has an advantage over the ranged Ranger who has to use far more than 6 or 7 slots to carry enough arrows to get through quests.

Example: Before I got enough House D favor to get the 75% returning arrows I would go through a complete 20 stacks of arrows in my weekly loot for cash runs in the giant caves. That is also with using a puncturing bow and the sorcerer I am running with casting hold on the giants so we can turn them into immobile pin cushions. That is 2000 arrows and we only do that for the two upper caves so we can complete the quest and get the automatic reset rather than grabbing the chest and waiting around for 5 minutes outside. ( Besides we do the middle cave so fast it only takes us a minute for each run )
Um no--- a suit of armour breaks down to a much smaller pakage than it is displayed in. And a chainshirt for example can easily be rolled into a bundle smaller than large quiver of arrows. A Medieval arrow would weigh in at somewhere between2 and 4 oz, depending on the head, for war arrows, somewhere closer to 4 oz, that means each 4 to 8 arrows is a lb. so between 160 to 320 arrows ( remember closer to 160) would equal the wieght of a suit of armour. Of course, arrows must be carried in a much more protected enviornment, their fletching must not get squashed, and the in general are much bulkier than a suit of armour lb for lb. A professional Longbowman of the middle ages would carry between 5 and 6 dozen arrows into battle. This limit was because they take a lot of room to carry. I think that the 100 stack of arrows taking on invetory slot is fine, and I frankly feel it is plenty "accurate" I mean we are talking about people carrieng around thousands of ls of equipment--- taht is already absurd.

Isn't it an issue for wizards etc that a spell slot gets wasted on that?

    Ahh of course

Still it would be nice if they did fix up the new bags, and added a bag for consumable throwing items (all of them not just arrows, to be fair on all classes)

Kinda disappointed in the implementation of the new bags, they feel very 'unfinished', i'm sure it can't be hard to make them auto-gather, and some method to sell the gems etc.

    Default Bolts are worse.

My repeater ranger went through 8,000 bolts in a 2 hour period(last night).

I'd say it's high time we opted for Level 3 House Deneith Favor for a +5 Endless Quiver.

Your argument requires the belief that being able to carry more arrows makes a ranger more powerful. I feel that it would make things more convenient for the ranger, but not more powerful.

As for "there's no such thing as a ranged-only ranger" -- that's true. However, the reason for it is how gimped ranged combat (regardless of the character class) is. If that were not the case, you would find ranged-only types (rangers, and perhaps special fighter builds as well).

Sadly, there are ranged only rangers, but I would not suggest playing with them.

On a more constructive note, even people who TWF hate running out of arrows. As for weight/space people it can easily be instituited as an extradimensional space (ie no more weight for more items or space) that only holds arrows. How much would it hurt the game for this to be implemented? I would argue there are no balance issues here. This is just a quality of play issue (and it would give rangers and other ranged combat users a real reason to carry all those slaying/bane arrows they pick up).

I disagree inventory management has a direct impact on the power of a character, the ability to carry more varieties of specialty arrows makes any ranged character more powerful. I do not believe ranged combat is gimped at all, infact my static party is drifting more and more to a reavely ranged approach in combat and have found it to be very powerful indeed, it just requires some planning.

My static party has a heavy repeater specialist in it, several hundred deneith bolts last her through even the long adventures, know this is not about not running out of arrows, this is about being able to carry everysingle specialty arrow there is and a thousand Deneith arrows also.

Well, numerically if you use bows to damage monsters, you are doing gimp damage. Bows fire at about 55% of the rate of melee combat, FACTORING IN MANYSHOT. Once you pass Stormcleave, archery becomes woefully in adequate.

Sorry man, Ranged Combat needs a complete overhaul, like I had been saying since L12 Cap. Though ranged combat still kinda sucks (and the new raid bow is garbage), a well played Ranger (aka one who twfs, uses a shield AND uses a bow) is a marvelous addition to any group, and can accomplish amazing tasks.

I really like this idea. Doesn't overpower anyone, adds to archers' play experience, AND creates a new money sink. Cool.

Bows deliver effects at range and can be used to strafe an entire group in a very short time. As I said, my pparty has been moving to more ranged weapons and use, 3 paralyzing bows can make a battlefield virtually stagnant, combine that with the fact that you get damage ALSO, and it is not underpowered at all. I have no problem with the idea that archery is not as individually damaging as melee, it isn't in real life either, however it can be done AT RANGE, which means disruption, smiting, paralyzing, wounding etc can be delivered to multiple targets over the entire battlefield.

I would have liked to have seen 100% returning arrows from deneth a while ago.
They don't even need to go to +5 to make them a good reward. "+1 100% returning" would be great boon to most ranged players. Often the bows are already at +3 - +5 so there is no need to make them obviously better than any other arrow sold in denith.

Default Good point about bows but...

Most of the good repeaters are +1.

Yet for the gems, witch are useless, we get an extra bag to collect them in. Does this make any sense to others? Why don,t they just offer rangers or any one who uses a bow or crossbow the ability to get a quiver for space. Put it into a feat or so, or make it like one of the new collectable bags. In my oppinon that would help.
I agree lonewolf! I have 2 rangers and space is always an issue with me. Why can't they come up with quivers of arrows, wands, or even scrolls that work in the same way as the new gem and collectable bags? Also, why is it that we have a tapastry bag (which takes up 1 inventory space) and the tapastry's which stack by the way(which takes up 1 inventory space?) Things to make you go hmmmmmm...
