Default Cabal Capable Rogue (A build by request).

Well, Sigtrent looks a bit busy these days, so I decided to try and help him out. I don't do the fancy colors and all, so it might look a bit drab.

Anyway here goes, the CCR. (To those that get the reference, )

As I want to be able to solo "Xorian Cipher", at least up to the doors and when not soloing Xorian, if possible be able to disarm even "cabal of one" up to elite if possible. Probably would need to go pure rogue, to be able to do this but if possible to toss in a few levels of fighter that would be good too.

No tomes, gear only as nessecary to complete the build. The race I would say to be up to yourself as to best utilize the request.

Thanks for the time for this, I wanted a nice project to build when I unlock my 32 point builds.

Sig, I thought I'd help out, since you seem a bit busy lately.

The requester wanted a Rogue that dual-wields Kukris and can do the Cabal trap with a 32 point build.

The first thing to check is the Search score.

    Search
    17 Ranks
    +3 Skill Focus
    +2 Racial
    +8 Enhancments
    +6 Int (+6 item)
    +4 Greater Hero
    +15 Item
    +5 Action Boost
    ___________
+60 Exactly what you need for the Cabal trap according to the thread that lists what you want your Rogue skills to be.

    Disable Device
    17 Ranks

    +7 Tools
    +6 Int (+6 item)
    +2 Enhancements
    +4 Greater Hero

+56 Again, what the thread on Rogue skills says you need.

    Open Lock

    +11 Dex (+6 item)
    +2 Enhancements
    +4 Greater Hero
    +5 Skill Boost

    AC
This is not going to be the best in the game, so we'll discuss somethings to make this less of an issue later.
    10 Base
    +11 Dex
    +6 Armor bracers
    +2 Chaosgarde
    +3 Barkskin pot
    +1 Haste
    +5 Protection item
    ____________
38 most of the time, with good loot

+4 Shield spell(scrolls/clickies probably, higher caster level wands if possible)

    +4 Full Pally Aura
    +3 Chattering Ring
    +2 Recitation
    _____________
53 possible, with the right party and raid loot

Okay, AC is not as bad as I thought.
To keep damage to a minimum though, make sure you have a Heavy Fort item, and carry a full stack of Stoneskin scrolls and Displacement scrolls.

    UMD
    17 Ranks
    +3 Cha (+6 item)
    +3 Skill Focus
    +3 Golden Cartouche
+1 Prayer (carry scrolls of this to use before you try the hard/expensive scrolls)

Of course, if you are good and can get your sneak attack in a lot, you can add 6d6 damage to each hit that is a sneak attack. On average about 21 points of extra damage each hit. So don't forget to use your bluff skill. A huge boost in damage is going to come when you start wearing a Fearsome robe, as the running away scaredy cats get Sneak Attacked every swing (or should, not a big Rogue player here).

Overall, the build shouls be okay without some of the equipment I have included (all the +6 stat items), but I don't find these real hard to get (except the **** Wis +6). These are more things to shoot for, rather than have-to-haves. The only real weak point is the HPs, which you should kind of pad with Stoneskin scrolls and Displacement when needed. Just remember you are not an up-front fighter and you should be okay.

I would like to suggest an alternative build. Also cabal capable.

I believe this build overcomes more of the shortfalls you experience by speccing so heavily into trapping. I apologize for putting this here but I'm not much of a thread starter. Also I haven't bothered with any character creation programs so I'll just go over the main things.

    Race: Drow
    Alignment: Lawful Good

    Starting Stats
    12 str
16 dex (4-8-12 raises go here)
    10 con
    16 int
    10 wis
    16 cha

Now here's where it gets interesting.

    10 rogue, 2 fighter, 2 paladin

you have 2 options on the fighter levels. I personally took them at levels 2 and 8 and spent the combat feats on weaopn finesse and improved two weapon fighting The other option is to lose out on capping your rogue skills at +17 and taking your last level fighter, this enables you to take greater two weapon fighting.

With creative skill point allocation you can keep the following rogue skills at max.

    Diplo (pally class skill)
    Jump (fighter class skill)
    Search
    Spot
    Pick Lock
    Disable Device
    UMD
    Tumble

If you can't figure out how to max all of those while multiclassing so heavily then look me up.

    Now for the cabal trap...

    17 Ranks
    13 item
    +6 Int (+6 item)
    +3 Skill Focus
    +2 Racial
    +5 Action Boost
+8 enhancement (double up on drow search and rogue search)
    +2 Way of the Mechanic
+4 Greater Heroism (castable by yourself with a planar gird)
+2 Recitation (castable by yourself on a scroll)

+60 total....this is with +13 item rather than +15. You can also bring a bard along and drop down to +6 enhancement because that'll save you 8 action points right there.

Ok...so Why multiclass so much on a trap monkey?
    level 2 fighter = 2 combat feats
level 2 pally = charisma added to saves (which are especially important for a rogue)

    suggested feats...

skill focus UMD, Disable Device, Search, nimble fingeres or improved crit depending on your preference, and two weapon fighting

combat feats for the 2 fighter levels
weapon finesse, improved two weapon fighitng

Benefits of this build over the above posted build is higher UMD, much better saves (+6 to all saves with +6 charisma item, crucible swim elite requires about +35 reflex save to only fail on a 1) 1 extra feat (compared to above build has room for skill focus disable device).

You lose bow strength and a favored enemy

Best thing of all, this build is drow rather than 32 point of something else...so it's much easier to get (best race for rogue is drow hands down in my opinion)

The requester though, specifically requested a 32 point build. In my opinion, If you need any 2 of the 3, (Dex, Int, Cha) go with Drow even over 32 pointers.

    Thanks Geonis,

I just wanted to say I'm happy to have other folks have a go at the requests and I'll generaly link in your builds if you want me to.

Inded I've been busy, I'll probably have a go at this one myself when I get to it as I'm curious what I'll come up with. I imagine it will be pretty similar.

    Nice work gents.

    Default Thanks

Thanks for putting together 2 builds for me too look over and consider. I like the comparison between the elf and drow looks at the build. Will help me consider which way I want to go with my rogue. If all the planning has gone into disarming all the Cabal traps, I should have no worries with running solo on Xorian. I'll be running one of these rogues shortly, maybe both.

    Thanks again for the build.

    I did mine up finaly

According to the rogue threads the DC on the Cabal trap elite is 73-75 so while a 56 disable can get it, you need to be darn lucky.

I got mine to 62 (didn't think to mention recitation, so it would be 64 wtih that, good tip)

On the down side I didn't find room for a lot of combat feats in there, so my build is pretty heavy wtih the sneak attack for damage.

I had someone point out to me later, that Recitation doesn't give bonus to skills, so Prayer is as good as we can get right now (+1).

I also started up my own thread for build requests. I might still sneak into yours for something to do though.
