I had the same problem with Vista and many other programs crashing. This may not be your issue, but try it...it worked for me.

Go under control panel, system, then advanced settings, then click the "advanced tab"
Under performance there is a "settings" button.

Go into the Data Execution Performance tab

select the second circle, turn on dep for selected programs.

Then ADD DDO launcher/ddo exe etc in the program files/turbine folder.

This fixed ONE issue for me. unfortunately, I know have other issues since the update ...blah.

I had a similar issue, I don't recall if it was exactly the same as yours. I found a thread relating to a fix for LOTR (sorry, I did not save the original link). The gist to fix was simple, yet not very apparent.

    1. I located the file UserPreferences.ini which was in My Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    2. I opened the file in notepad
    3. I found the line
    Code:
    AllowFakeFullScreen=True
    and changed it to
    Code:
    AllowFakeFullScreen=False
I don't understand why this worked, but it did so I am not complaining. I will say that every so often I get an error where the video driver crashes, but it usually restarts by itself. The symptom for that is all of the sudden the game freezes and whatever sound was playing repeats (sounds like a weird beep usually) for about 30 seconds. That's about how long the driver takes to restart then things are fine.

I hope the tip helps, it is my understanding that different hacks have fixed different Vista issues so I don't know if this one is your issue's solution or not.

In Vista those files should reside in:
    Code:
    C:\Users\<username\Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online
If you don't have them then I would suggest a reinstall.

    Try and re-install .NET 1.1 and Direct X 9.0C

also you can try and disable UAC (User Access Control). Under Control Panel, User Preferences, and Uncheck UAC. It will tell you to reboot. Reboot and try.

    Good Luck

Ok. I managed to do fix this. I think..
    Its a funny process
First, I tried to re-install my .Net

Initally I always got struck when installing .Net 1.1 so I copy over from the other computer.
Now I tried re-installing it but however, I have deleted it!
But I realised that I had a copy at my D drive.
Surprising, at D drive, the .Net installed well... and end up, the game is On~

    Thanks guys~~

    Hi Guys

Just to post another helping note for guys who might have issues of installing or playing DDO because of .Net issues.

I had another new PC today and tried installation -- Failed.
    Tried Playing - Failed.

All due to .Net. Trying to install .Net -- Failed

So I use the old trick.

Copy other working PC's .Net folder (usually at C:/windows/windows .net/framwork/v1.1224

Then, download the .Net 1.1 at D drive install of main C drive.
    Re-install .Net 1.1

    Then, install DDO.

This works perfectly for my other 2 vista PCs.

    Best Regards

    Default A Recent Solution

For anyone having this issue with Windows 7, I received this from technical support. It worked for me without the need to slipstream.

Thank you for contacting Turbine Technical Support. The issue may be caused by a .Net 1.1 corruption or error. The game does require Microsoft .Net 1.1 and its associated hotfix (service pack) are installed. These do install onto Windows 7 but there are some reported issues typically due to compatibility with later installed versions.

Open the "Uninstall a Program" option in the control panel (Windows "Start" button > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program) and look in the list for:

    "Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1"
"Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 "Hotfix" (KB####)"

Both should be listed but due to compatibility issues on Win7 it is possible only one may be listed. If so uninstall it (or both*) and re-download and reinstall them from the links below:

*Note: you may receive an error uninstalling the .Net "hotfix" but it should take itself out of the "Uninstall a Program" list.

    Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    The 1.1 Service Pack (Hotfix)
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

In some instances with Windows and .Net 1.1 you may need to perform the steps for "Slipstreaming" the installs for .Net 1.1 and its hotfix into one combined installation due to interoperability issues.

These steps may enable the install to perform correctly, though they are third party steps and not supported, you may want to consider attempting them so that .Net 1.1 can be installed fully.

A Lotro player posted a very detailed walkthrough on performing a "slipstream" of .Net 1.1 and its service pack here:
    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=322911

    Hope this helps
