Default Vordex's guide to madstone crater

    Vordex's Guide to Madstone Crater
    1. When you first enter the quest madstone crater you find yourself sitting in a valley with a field before you. Blaze is to your right as well as a couple of paths. In front of you is a gate. The first step here is to buff up your characters in your party and prepare to clear the field. Clearing the field now allows you to not get ambushed later when you re-enter the field. After clearing out the field I reccomend going into the gate that they were coming out of. Doing this brings you to a shrine and a locked gate. You can decide to either go back out and save this shrine or send a fire resisted party member out of the cave enterance. The one who went out the oppossite cave enterance will find themselves in the same valley as the third crystal. If they hang a left and run thro the lava there they will find a key next to a giant skeleton. No worries this one isn't gonna knock you around. This key will unlock the locked gate. I like getting this gate and clearing out these giant skeletons at this time because it leads to a quick chest and some loot. After looting this chest go back the way you came. You should be back in the field you have already cleared out. If you have not talked to blaze yet do so now.
    2. The first path that you come to after Blaze leads you to a cave enterance. This cave leads you to the first giant seer that you need to rescue. Follow the cave defeat the groups you encounter till you find where the cave opens up a bit. In this enlarged area you will find giant skeletons rise to stop you. I have found that a decent cleric on any difficulty can at least make these cower if not destroy them with turning. This will help conserve some of the clerics spell points. After they are defeated the giant seer will run out at you. Do not attack him attack the giant skeleton behind him. Once the skeleton is defeated you can talk to the seer and he will meet you at the first crystal. Continue down the cave till you hit another door. This door leads you to the valley of the first crystal. There are a couple of battles as you work your way up. As you go forth you will find a path that leads down to your right note where this is it leads to the second cave and the second seer. once you clear out the valley and arrive at the giant. This is where team work comes in as a key point. You need to protect the giant from attack so he can destroy the crystal. Buff him up and make a choice. A good caster can use flesh to stone on the minotaurs that are going to charge at the giant. If the party leaves them stoned they wont respawn till they die this makes protecting the giant alot easier. You can also decide to do a prison blockade. This is done by just building a barrier across the path. As long as no one attacks they just keep building up in there because they are set to fight the giant not you. You can also decide to set the cleric and caster up near the giant and the others near the spawn point and fight it out. Once the crystal is shattered you move back down the path to enter the cave to the second seer.
    3. Same thing as in the first cave fight your way past all of the monsters destroy the giant skeletons that spawn. Save the giant by destroying the skeleton that controls him. Talk to the second seer he will meet you at the second crystal. There is a chest here that you can loot. After looting the chest you will notice a shrine near by. After the party shrines up and rebuffs continue into the second valley. Once out in the second valley make note of the path to your left this leads to the third cave. Work your way up to the second giant and the second crystal. Note that this time it is different you have four paths to defend. The barrier tactic doesnt work well here. Best to either stone them or fight them. I recomend fighting near the giant so the cleric can heal the giant and the party. This will also allow the caster help with the ledges above the giant. A good cloud kill or firewalls make the ledges clear. Once the second crystal is cleared go back to the earlier path that was to your left. Becareful there are minotaurs down near the enterance to the third cave. The third cave is like the other two fight your way to the larger space. Once there skeletons will come after you once again. This time a couple waves of them from a doorway. Once they are gone and the third giant saved there is a shrine opposite of the door the skeletons came from.
    4. Continue to venture down this cave to the third valley. watch yourselves as you enter into the third valley you have archers above and to your left. Hug the left wall and move fast up to destroy them. Once the direct threat is gone battle your way up to the third giant. Once at the giant I like to set the cleric under the ledge near the giant so that the giant can be healed. I like to send the rest of the party to the gate you saw on your way to the giant. They can either setup a barrier or do my personal favorite stone them. Hold monster works just as good. Once the third crystal is destroyed the party moves up to the giant. Once the party is there you will notice a cliff to the giants right feather fall down to the cave enterance. Go into this cave it is the first shrine cave. Shrine up for those that have not shrined here yet.
    5. Go back out into the first field where Blaze is located. You will notice that he has moved up. Near him is the path up to a big battle and the fianl battle. I prefer to setup a killing field at the locked gate before I talk to blaze. A symbol of persuasion works well here. Once it is set one person goes and talks to Blaze he opens up the gate. After this battle you will need deathblock either an item or the spell. As you work up the path you will come to a spot where Chaos orbs are rolling down the path. Run up the path and destroy the giant warlock up on top. Once this is done loot the last chest. Once chest is looted one or the whole party can go back down and talk to Blaze this will end the quest. Congratulations you made it finish out and get your end reward.

That's pretty much beyond "hard to read".

It's more like, "never even going to attempt to read".

I agree. It is very hard to follow as the sentences and paragraphs aren't grouped together. Bullet points and other visual cues help a lot as well to logically group words into more readable (and therefore easier to follow) steps.

Blue Text on a Black Background is probobly the hardest for the human eye to easily read. Followed closely by Red/Black.

The use of Color is interesting.. But unnecessary.

I almost didnt want to read it either... but cut and paste into notepad is easy enough... then I still didnt want to read it, but did anyhow. Things I got out of reading this were:

    1) clear areas when time and opportunity affords
    2) save the first shrine
    3) attack skeletons guarding the Seers, not the Seers
    4) for first Seer use the party to block the path up to the seer (dont attack, just wait it out, then clear)
    5) protective buffs on the seer are a good idea
    6) make sure the cleric is healing the seer as well as the rest of the party
    7) flesh to stone will stop mobs from attacking seer and prevent them from re-spawning
    8) deathblock for the final fight would be nice

Some threads just keep coming back no matter how many times you kill them
The greatest mistake wizards make is to think they can change the world.
The greatest mistake the gods make is to let a few of them get away with it.

Well then why is it still here available for the reading on the forums, and to the search engine showing it amongst the 1st entries? Get rid of it, or else stop trolling about the dates in these forums, both of you! Information is information, it doesn't have a termination date unless it's obsolete. Is it the case? No, this topic is still relevant, so stop worrying about the freekin' dates! This is absurd, lmao... As absurd as the OP who made it hard for people to read his post...
About the subject, Tomw sums it up nicely in above post #10.
