Default Manuals effect on char and int?

If I start with 13 cha, then add a manual to 14 do I get the same amount of turns and what not? What about skill points? Any suggested stats for a healing/destruct build? I don't plan to be swinging my weapon about much if at all. I have a 14 cleric already and hardly get the chance with all the healing and wanding im doing. Oh 32 pt build, prob human.

Yes any tome you use will be counted toward your base stats for thing like skill points, turn undead(after mod 5 hit any cha mod will affect turn), feat, etc...

    In that case would

    s 9
    d 9
    c 15
    i 9
    w 18
    cha 13

be a good set to start with for the long haul of getting +1 on everything but wis?

Would 8 str and 10 dex work better for a pure healing and casting build?

Also what are the opinions on empower healing? I was thinking of leaving it alone this build as I hardly use it on my current cleric.

My first build I started with 14 str and it seems to be a waste to my playstyle.

I like 10 STR as a minimum just for carrying loot. As a Cleric, you'll get lots of shields and heavy armors as loot (from end rewards) so you need *some* carrying capacity. Those numbers look good, but by limiting INT at creation, you'll be losing 4 skill points (if that matters to you).

As for +1 tomes, I find it easier to start with even stats. Even base + 1 tome + 5 item = even final stat. But, if you have +6 stat items aplenty or are content with +4 stat items, then your system of odd stats works well.

It depends how you really want to play it... Just Healing and using Offensive spells, you will find there won't be enough Mana to do Both (Heal and Offensive spell). Most of the time you would likely end up conserving Mana for just Cure/Buffs only.

But if that is what you want then....

    STR: 10
    DEX: 8
    CON: 16
    INT: 8
    WIS: 18
    CHA: 12
