So that all of you can see my marvelous art that never made it to production, here is the original rage icon I checked in on 6/25/2004. Yes. That is Arnold's head taken from a campaign picture off the Internet. Our technical art lead sat down and had a nice long talk about the role of engineers and the role of artists with me that day. That was the same day that I checked in a sound for inspire courage which was a lovely yodelling sound. Later on, our sound lead came by and had a talk with me about the role of engineers and the role of the sound fx team.

Oh well... there went my aspirations for being a jack of all trades.

One thing about engineering apps, no one expects the art/sound to be very good (or even exist in many cases).

I get away with a lot of dodgy art/sound.

I wonder if anyone actually heard the critical warning sound I put in one system (for one of the worlds biggest mining corps)...

They were right to sit you down and talk to you about this. Tsk tsk.

As some one in the art field (Production artist) all I can say is that when an editor or such comes and gives me art to use, not specs to make the art, but the actual art, I'm always left at a loss for words. Try explaining the difference between vector and pixel art some times. Try explaining lo-rez and hi-rez.

Try explaining the concept of text as it works on computers. Heck, try explaining to editors how tabs work in Word, which is the main program they use all day long. Explain how 3 spaces does not equal a tab.
