New Inventory View

Is it possible to implement the ability to toggle your inventory between the current view, wherein all you see is the icons until you hover over them with the pointer, and the system you have in place at a vendor, wherein you're able to scroll up/down with the mouse and see the actual names of all the items? This is a superior form for managing/finding items in your inventory and is already in place. A way to toggle between the two would be infinitely helpful when trying to find that piece of gear you know you have but just can't seem to notice via it's icon alone.

At this point, and for awhile now, I've been using vendors to sift through what I have before I post anything in the AH, stow things in the bank or place in a hotbar, solely because I am able to see all the names of the items quickly and can sort them alphabetically or by value.

Something like this would definately make life easier.

While we are on the topic, being able to view inventory from the character select screen would rock too, although i am sure it is a lot more work then the original request.

Yes, viewing inventory for each toon before logging them in to see if they have a particular piece of gear would be great. Again, it's more work than the devs would probably want to put into something like that though. Great idea though!

I do the same. I also do this when I first log in to see if anything needs to be restocked or sold before I head out. Another trick is if you click once on a item in the Vendor display (thus causing it to be high lighted), it also becomes high lighted in your pack making it slightly easier to spot.

But yeah, being able to get this same display without a Vendor present would be useful.

I fully support this service and / or product!

It would be great to enable an "extended view" option for the inventory so that you'd still have the tabs like you do in the normal inventory, but it would be extended to give you the same detail view you get when shopping. I currently do the same thing and go to the shop when I need to review what I'm carrying around rather than just trying to look through my inventory. I also do this in the tavern when I buy food or drink. Buy it, then click to the sell tab so I can select it and hit 'U' to consume it. Quicker than trying to look through my inventory icons.

I was just sitting there doing my thing at the vendor when it dawned on me that I was making these extra trips to the vendors, not to sell, but to organize, when this all occurred to me. Why should I have to make these extra trips? Why can't we have a better way to organize what, essentially, is the bulk of our character? Glad to hear that I'm not alone. Thanks all

Yup, this is something I've been asking for the past year and a half, since April or May 2006.

Not only is the vendor inventory display sorted by item type, but it also clearly shows the item name beside its icon, meaning you don't need to mouse-over it just to check which item it is.
