    Smile Temporary Abilities

    Consider if for a moment that your character didn't just gain loot from chests, or even from end rewards. Imagine if you defeat a named enemy and gain the ability to use some sort of magic/power based on it.

    A spellcaster's eye allowing a character to use magic missile 3 times before it disintegrates. Possibly parts with timers so that after so many in game days, they disolve/rot/decay.

    This would allow individuals even more freedom to customize their character, and be truely unique. Examples include but are not limited to;

    A kobold shaman's eye allows the person to cast obscuring mist 3 times.
    A minotaur's horn allows you to charge 3 times.
    A bowl of giant's blood temporarily increases your strength.

    Futhermore, when you obtain arcane texts from different missions like The Seal of Shan-Ta-Kor, or the Xorian Cipher you can use them to gain powers for a limited amount of time (provided you have a high enough charisma/wisdom/intelligence to read them)[each item would have a minimum charisma/wisdom/intelligence needed to read]

    After all, it doesn't make sense for the texts to be so highly sought after and just take up space.

    Ultimately, it would be wonderful if you could 'research' at various in game libraries and for casters to create temporary magic spells. Talk about variety.

    Sounds a lot like the Temporary powers in the City games that you can gain from some quests that last x amount of in game time or x amount of charges.

    Like in City, you can get a ranged weapon with 30 shots, a self rez power that you can use like once a half hour or so for24 hours.... there are a few more.

    Something from the Secrets of Xin'drik book I have. They have some stuff in there IIRK, like you find this pool and can cast "stop time" (or something like that) 1 time and the pool is useless for a year afterwards.

    You find this Giant green claw out in the jungle somewhere and it does somethiing for you.

    I think this is part of Eberron Lore, yes? Someone knowledgable help me out here.

    It sounds EXACTLY like CoX temp powers. I tend to get them and then never use them up if I can. I like hitting the Beanbag Gun icon and pulling out the gun on my Tanker just for the visual, then I never fire it.

    Default Hmmm...

    Not to belittle the idea, but don't we already have something like this in the game?

    I regularly pull items with Jump, Shield, MM, Spell Absorption, Energy Resist, Lightning bolt, etc...Granted, the various clickies we currently pull aren't as macabre as plucking out a Kobold Shamans Eye and using it to cast spells off of, but they're more or less just as effective.

    This might work better if the rewards are named items that show up as quest rewards with powerful effects that don't reset on resting, etc but where if you complete the quest again you have the option of picking another item or having the quest giver recharge the one you already have.

    heh, only one I really use are the jump packs/raptor packs.... now those are good to use, especially if you cant fly "naturally" or if your in the RP servers, means your char doesnt have an RP reason to actually fly. like one of my chars, would be good to have the super speed/jumping powers, but has no reason to fly. XD
