Server merge name issue

Im an original Ghallanda player and after the server merge, there where multiple ppl with same name as me on server, I figured after a certain amount of time they would use their name change option and the problem would resolve itself.

But that has not been the case and on a nightly basis, multiple times im disturbed by ppl who think I am the other player and I think its crazy that I should have to add a few dozen ppl to my ignore list because of this. there needs to be a way to tell the ppl apart to resolve this, or there needs to be a name change deadline as in some cases i'm treated rudely due to stuff the same named char has done, and ppl who dont know me think its me.

Then theres the issue of me mailing stuff to said char and him not receiving it, and me receiving stuff intended for the other char of the same name, which I always return with a message saying they sent it to me in error.

So heres a quick recap
1. annoying tells from ppl I dont know, who think Im someone else
2. lost mail or having to pay postage for return fees to ppl who sent to me in error.
3. Being censored for other persons behavior who has same name as me.
Whats being done about this???? because I'm sure Im not the only one with this problem.

I'm posting this on several different forums in hopes that a GM sees and responds or acts on it.

back to topic. i understand your problems and can empathise with you. what you might want to do is to put a comment (using player comment) to state which server you are originally from. you can also send a polite reply to the people abusing you, to inform them the said person did not retain his name. in addition, get them to spread the news (coz most of them should know each other). if this fails, very likely the senders are friends of the person who lost his name

as for postage, put them into your friends list and transfer to them when they are on. or send them a note telling them that if they want to recover it, pay your postage..... but then again.... point 2 contradicts point 1 and 3. why would a hated person get mails?

Well, AFAIK this is the first post where someone is bit^%ing because he got to KEEP his name. So, points for originality there.

But we take points away because its just a new side to the same tired arguments. Kinda like showing up at the Oscar's wearing last years dress.

Let's call it a wash.

Here is an idea, instead of making all these other folks change thier names..... why don't you change yours? Then you won't have to worry about it. I mean even if they DO change thier names, someone might still say, "LOOK! There's that &^$%&^$ 'X'! Get his shoes!!!!" So changing your name seems the way to go.

BTW they do not HAVE to change their names.. they can keep X-server name should they so desire. Some do so desire. You might be stuck forever being just that guy everyone confuses for 'X'.

Greater, here is my thought on it.

Rather than putting them on ignore, file harassment charges in game against them. There is no need for them to be rude after all.

On the stuff sent to you, keep a list of these players. If they sent it to you after the first time you sent stuff back, it is yours.
