an invasion of Stormreach

Last night Tchurval visited the warward lobster on Argo and spawned mobs to the delights of those present, for those interested I have pics in the thread I posted on the argo forums

We had a blast as he spawned storm giants and beholders, mummys, rakasha's etc.

It got me to thinking, as to the dearth of GM hosted events in DDO, and I got an idea which I am sure has been though of before but perhaps deserves being revisited as I see all these posts about the lack of time sinks etc.

and that is mobs appearing in Stormreach proper, what I want to see is an invasionof Stormreach, I want dueragar Dwarves invading house K, drow invading house p, kobolds running loose in the harbor, giants appearing in house j and d, all of a sudden the safe zone is no longer safe and you must defend the city from destruction.

People often complain that Stormreach seems a bit plastic not alive likein other MMO's. So liven it up a bit ke it a surprise, not scheduled and have it happen 2 or 3 times a month.

I could see a scenario like this; all of a sudden duaragar dwarves start streaming out of the house k docks attacking anyone and everyone, the guards in a panic lock down the house preventing those inside from leaving, but allowing people to be let in to help fight the horde, the doors only reopen when all invaders have been defeated.

Good idea, I would love to see 20 beholders spawn on the 30 people waiting outside of Reaver or Dragon Raids...at least then we would have an excuse to be an hour late starting a raid! Or something to do while so-and-so get scrolls, or components.

Wouldnt it be nice if there were named items exclusive to these encounters?

I agree random but themed spawns in the city proper would be a blast, particulalrly if it was not too often and in differant places. I would think one randomly timed event a week would be about right, particularly if they were regional to a house or whatever.

The Invasion of Stormreach idea is fantastic. Periodic invasions of armies into Stormreach would liven up the game and provide content that is not easily defeated by following somone elses guide. Spontaneous content with a truely random outcome, Awesome idea. The Tavern events are a great start, but take the initiative and expand this idea quickly, before we lose more players.

Around 8 PM'ish (central), IIRC. Happened to log in to check mailboxes and caught part of the fun by pure chance.

no by the time I goti there he was gone

I was there but didn't know he had spawned there till it was too late
