    Default Threnal Trainers

So a friend and I both gained a level while doing one of the Threnal quests. So we thought we'd both level up out there since there are trainers. As a Cleric, he had no problems. As a Bard, I had to run back to House P. Is there a reason for not having a Bard trainer in Threnal?

Because House P has one, and it's right next door.

Because House Deneith and House Kundarak, who run the operation, aren't known for their virtuosity.

Actually the Threnals are house P quests ... as do all the npc's report to P also.

    Neither are Bards.

That explanation doesn't quite work. There is a Sorc trainer in Threnal, but House P has one "right next door". And what about a Paladin trainer? None in Threnal or House P.

Except those Bards that take the Virtuoso specialty.
