    Monster Vending Machine sounds cool.

However, I don't know if they would go for it because it would allow us "free" practice at beating a high CR creature without any XP penalty.

You take your party to the pit, spawn the ghostly beholder and take turn useing spells and weapons to see what works best then go to the quest and use what you learned to save yourself the time and XP.

Just to flesh out the idea even more, we have 2 alternatives. First is Promoter Grogan from Tharashk Arena & Crucible. We've ventured to visit him in remote locales, now he comes to Stormreach and brings selections of champions with him to test the adventurers of Stormreach. Second is a nameless summoner, perhaps just The Summoner, a high level mage who is running low on funding for his research. Pay him coin and he will summon all manner of beasties for you to test your mettle. "Red Dragon Kobold, I choose you!" /throws pokeball.
I likes it. Give it to Mikey, He'll eat anything.

Good point Rekker. They'd absolutely have to leave out the uniques. But, they could certainly include regular beholders. You can practice on them anytime in a variety of quests.

Hmmm would coyle stand in the pit and throw daggers at the people up on the ledge?

I like the vending machine idea, and this is probably the first suggestion on these forums that I've seen in a LOOOOONG time that found so much support.

Edit - however, I think it should be in an instanced arena to avoid someone genking the 10,000 pp dragon you just bought.

Yes, I think all the PvP pits should be separate instances. Make it a hostile zone with no warp-time, no food consumption, no health/SP/stat regen, no clicky regen, etc. in the pit. But, I think it should still be a multi-user instance. If you want to solo a summoned monster, go to one of the less used PvP areas.

As an added bonus, separate instance gets PvP traffic out of NPC-laden taverns. Some days I can't even move to get quests in the Lobster because the tavern brawl is so busy.

Question Which is why I wonder.

Why is the PvP pit in the Golden Phoenix not utilized more? That one at least has options for Team play, and Deathmatch. Does no one realize?
