    Default Pally sp question

    Hello there! My very first paladin hit level 4 today woo. However, upon getting sp, I had a question.

    I went with a wisdom of 10 initially, it was suggested in many guides and seemed to save some attribute points so it looked like a great idea.

    I have a wisdom +1 item, which enables me to mem and cast level 1 spells just fine. Also I understand that wis 11 is not enough for bonus spell points.

    However, it only gave me 2 when I leveled up, as base sp. According to ddo wiki I should have 5. So I seem to have gotten half (round down) base sp, perhaps because my base wis wasnt enough for spells? I see that it checks current wis to enable casting, thats not the problem, its the lower base sp pool that concerns me.

    I am curious how that works, and if it will correct itself later? For the moment I just took the energy of the templar enhancement to cast, and once I get a 2 wis item the bonus points will also help, but I hope I do not get half spell points all the way to 14, 70ish instead of 140ish would be horrible.

    Thanks for any replies and help, appriciate it. Cheers.

    Was in pretty much the same situation, and was curious about that too. Mine's at 11 paladin and is still 3 short of what the wiki lists (97 instead of 100). Bonus SP from wis are still calculated normally.

    Thats really odd, so it wasnt 'half round down' but just 3 less than listed? Maybe the wiki is off then. Im sure some vet can shine some light on it, Im pretty new to ddo and really new to paladins so Ive no idea, it just seemed off and I wanted to know what was up before I hit 14 and found out I had no sp! Thanks for the reply.

    Wow.

    I just did the math too. 3 off.

    I run around with 434 spell points, yet:

    145 base from Wiki {Level 14 Paladin}
    +90 Power IX item
    +92 18 Wis { (14+9)x4 = 23 x 4 = 92 }
    +15 Dwarven Faith I
    +20 Energy of the Templar I
    ----
    437

    Put me down for missing 3 as well.

    The last round of mana pool changes is responsible for your missing sp.

    Don't feel bad, bards lost 1 sp overall, clerics lost roughly 100-300.

    I don't recall the reasoning behind changing the mana pools for non-caster types, but it did alleviate the fact that sorcs and wizzys were too similar in their spell point allocations.
