Locked Toolbars Should Stay Locked

Why when I have my tool bars locked can I still drag them around and remove items from them????? This seems like a rather simple piece of programming functionality. If toolbar = locked then toolbar cannot move. For the umpteenth time last night I went to hit a pot in the middle of a boss fight then dragged the pots off then fumbled move a tool bar out of sight. This should NOT happen the bars are locked. PLEASE FIX THIS. I lock them because I am a clumsy mouse wielder and tend to spas and accidentally click and drag. Arggg...

I thought everything on a locked bar was locked into position. Is that not the case?

No, it is not things sometimes randomly can be dragged off or moved...happens to me fairly often.

Yeah, I get the same thing - sometimes you can move locked toolbars, sometimes you can move things on/off of supposedly locked toolbars, etc.

Filed a bug report about it some time ago, never heard anything about it after that.

Hmmm, I may have to take another look at locked tool bars. I want to be able to move items to and from different tool bars and only have the bars themselves looked into position. Last time I looked at it everything on the bar was also looked.

The behavior of items in the toolbar seems to be fairly random - sometimes I can move stuff off a toolbar, sometimes I cant.

Which really sucks.

Nothing worse than being the cleric and accidentally removing one of your heal spells off your hotbars by accident, or removing one of your weapons when you mean to swap weapons. Especially when the bars are supposed to be locked to prevent doing just that.


I'm not as upset about the bars still being movable when "locked" -- if I accidentally move one, I can always move it back. Not nearly the inconvience of having to dig through backpacks or spell lists to put something back into the hotbar that disappeared.


No idea what causes toolbars to be "locked" but suddenly allow items to be removed from them. Sometimes they truly are locked. Sometimes, not so much. But when locked, you can pretty much always grab them on their bottom edge and move them. But, only the bottom edge.

From my experience with this, items in a locked bar will sometimes move - once.

So if I'm clicking on that stack of heal pots and get clumsy, I might drag it to the left and it will swap spots with the next icon, but you wont be able to move it back without unlocking the bar. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, that's how it happens for me.

In any case I agree, it can be very annoying if this happens at an especially inopportune time.

stupid bug but heres the workaround (has worked for me every time i've remembered)log in unlock bars relock bars it seems to not remember they are locked when u log in till you move that 1 item then it say **** thats supposed to be locked and locks it.

One of the check boxes in the UI settings. Somewhere near the top, if I recollect properly.

Now, the random issues aside... I'd like a SEPARATE option. One for the toolbars, and one for the items in the toolbar.

I agree with separate options. I have always wanted to lock the position of the tool bars, but not the items in the toolbar. I move the items all the time, but I don't want to move the toolbar itself.

Maybe they could make a semi-locked toolbar. The toolbar and items would be locked, but if you held down say the SHIFT key you could then move the items on the toolbars.

Are you pressing the + and - keys? Dont. He meant press Ctrl AND = together.

i have found out something about it, anything that is locked so that you can not trash from your inventory needs to be moved once before it stays locked, when you do lock the toll bars

Yes it is "Ctrl" and "=" together that locks / unlocks your hotbars.
It is a log in - log out problem. I always "unlock and relock" my hotbars when I log in and now I never have this problem (unless I forget).

I never made the connection... well, now I only have to remember to relock when logging in. However, dev's it would still be nice if you fixed this...

That happened to me just now. Middle of dragon fight in the tor, dragged the Heal spell off my toolbar. Really really stinks when you are in the middle of a fight and this happens...

"Hey, excuse me Mr. Monster, do you mind not hitting my friends while I dig around in my spell list/backpack and found that thing that just disappeared for no **** reason?"

Yeah...like that's going to happen.
