Why does it take so long to transfer characters using World Character Transfer?

Recently, many players have asked why it may take up to two weeks to process a character transfer request.

For now, while we accept requests anytime, we can only process a character transfer while the game services are offline. Because of this, your request will likely be processed during the next scheduled maintenance window.

However, Module 5 will include the ability to process character transfers "on-the-fly", and help with the waiting period required to process these requests.

You're not charged for any services until they're the character transfer is processed. Sorry we didn't make that clearer before

Usually updates take longer than that. More like 7am to 5-7 am.

even though we are not charged we spend time to get our char with gear moved over. loaded down and really unplayable until transfered. If we wanted to play the toons on our current server then we would not be putting a request in for a transfer. To say the least i am very upset with the costumer service so far that turbine has provided with "PREMIUM" service. To boot the cost of this is 25 dollars PER CHAR. and we are waiting forever for it to happen. you would think with that fee they could get it straight.

I think I got the gist of it... Your card isn't charged until the character transfer is processed.

Now, does this mean processed within the billing system, processed in the world of departure, world of entry, or both?

Beyond that this all seems to be semantics at best in regards to the original poster's complaint/query, it still seems rather ambiguous, coupled with a mangled sentence.

So this is what I guess you mean, please correct me if I'm wrong:

Your payment method is billed when your character transfer is completed. When the transfer is actually begun, be it at a scheduled downtime, or on-the-fly when mod 5 goes live.

We sympathize with your desire to not lose any time with your character while you are also paying for your account, however, you would not want the move to be done in a shoddy manner. Due to current technology restraints, we feel it is best for the entire population if transfers occur during maintenance periods.

Moving a character is not taken lightly. So as to avoid data-corruption and other unfortunate events, this safety precaution was made to insure an event-free transfer.

We, more than anyone, want to see you having fun with the game.

We make every effort to expedite the process, and thank you for your patience.
