I've seen several topics about people having lag or a short-term freeze-up of the game before it continues to work, but I was curious if anyone else has had the game completely freeze up their computer since the server merge?

The game runs fine at random and freezes up the entire PC at random. I've played in the morning before work when there is little traffic and had no problem playing for an hour to two depending on when I get up. In the evenings however, since the last update and server merge I've been having problems with the game freezing up at random. I've had it happen while doing anything from running from point A to point B in the harbor, other parts of the city, or sorrowdusk (not the load screen lag/freeze-up, but just running down the path.), while looking at inventory items(not when I open the inventory, just at random, often when I'm not even clicking on an item at the time), while in mid-combat(which would make the most sense since something is actually happening), and even when I'm just standing around(sitting/kneeling waiting for the party to get to the dungeon entrance)

I didn't install anything new. I didn't download anything to my knowledge before this problem grew more and more. The only thing I've changed on the system was just last week I updated my DSL and got a new high speed modem. This, along with the fresh anti-virus software and reconfiguring of the entire DSL setup seemed to improve the situation. While I still had crashes/freeze-ups, they seemed to be far less frequent.

Now, less than a week later, it's back to being one freeze after another at random. When it happens, I lose any ability to do anything but hit the restart button. And then, after the restart, it happens even faster than before. (EG: Was running WW with friends. Made it through parts 1&2 with no problem what so ever. Had been running around without any problem for at least an hour before I joined up with them. During part 3, when we were almost to the end, the game froze. I restarted and reentered as fast as I could. I was almost caught up to the group when crash 2 happened. Reboot, re-enter and I have to recall. I make it back into the map and again, crash 3. Reboot, re-enter as fast as possible as I'm in hte middle of a group of respawning slimes. I kill the current spawn and make a run for it before they respawn. I make it about 20ft to the end of the hall and around a corner, Crash 4. I reboot and re-enter one last time and I only don't even have time to appologize to the party before the game completely freezes up for crash number 5.) I usually have to defrag after I keep re-entering like an idiot hoping the problem will self-correct and the fact that I feel obligated when I'm the primary cleric.

The next morning, after the above, I had no problems for about an hour. Then rinse and repeat the crash scenario. So I whiped the games off the comp, re-defragged and set about reinstalling Risia first since I was having issues DL'ing the primary client. (see other post about the dead install link.)

Since Risia was down I had no way to check it tonight. I'm on the last of the DL for the primary client so I won't be able to even check that until tomorrow.

To try and correct the problem I installed the latest drivers for my video and audio cards and am working on setting up a clean install. After I have the install finished I was planning on tackling some of the port management suggestions here on the forums.

I was mainly curious if this is happening to anyone else and if there was anything I may have overlooked that could be causing it. The machine is virus/spyware free. I run on medium graphics usually to save on any processor problems. Currently running AMD 1.6g processor with 1.5g Ram, a GeForce 6600, and Soundblaster audio card.

Also worth note is the fact that I have no problems running COH/COV or Star Wars Galaxies. Both of which suck up far more processing power.

Thanks for any help/tips.
