    Default Suggestion for argonnessen guilds

    Hi,
I have been playing D&D Online at Argonnessen for 8 -9 months now, and have joined a guild "Realms of Ebberon" within argonnessen server. We on the guild exchange equip and money between guild members quite frequently to assist in questin success's.
I would like to suggest having a 'Guild' bank account whre donated items and money could be held for guild members universal use, so as to eliminate having to log in and out players different toons in order to exchange equipment/resources to succeed on a quest.

    Oh come on!

Pick on him for spelling, fine.

Pick on him for asking for it for Argonnessen guilds and not guilds on all servers, fine.

But, don't pick on the idea. The idea is reasonable and not unusual. I played DAoC for a while, and it was possible to purchase "guild accessable" chests that were placed in the guild house and available for deposit and withdrawal by any guild character.

If making it a standard guild feature is too generous, then it could be tied to a Guild favor system.

As a guild founder I have an issue with this and I believe it was mentioned in another thread. Who gets access to the bank? The reason I ask is who is to stop someone from cleaning out the bank and then dropping the guild? I see some merits to this but I see more cons than pros.

    from http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.ph...splay&ceid=449

"Darkgolem: Some the features mentioned in the State of Game Address from Kate Paiz included Crafting and Guild Housing. I wanted to ask about those. The Guild Housing system is also planned for late this year or early next year. Kate mentioned they might have a bar and a bank manager. Again, that’s a long time in the future, but at this point, could you expound what they would be like?

James: Yeah, we have actually got two major systems planned for this year, two major feature additions I should say. One of them is crafting. We have started work on it now, I think the players will really like the way we are doing crafting. It’s different from other games, we are trying to stick with DDO being unique, that we are not your standard MMO.

One of the purposes we want guild house to serve, is we want to give guilds what we call conveniences. So the conveniences are that a guild can have their own banks, repair merchants, their own auction house vendors, so it’s kind of a one-stop shop. Guilds would have to unlock them, they would have to earn them. Guild conveniences are definitely something we want to be a part of guild housing"

Yes, we all know this quote... BTW own bank<>own bank account. Unless you think the guild members will be doing the repairs themselves. Odds are they will offer you the opportunity for a NPC standing in the guild.

Um? Its a good idea... If by make the game easier you mean running to bank instead of opening a trade window then i guess it must make one hell of a difference? Lol, i dont see what the big deal is.. I share loot with my guildies every day, now instead of opening a trade window.... i can throw it in the bank with certain restrictions that i could choose who can take it or not... sheesh.

for example, then you would be one less vorpal short on a fighter, which makes your fighter vorpal-less

if you have more then 1 vorpal, then maybe you can give your guildies one, for the ones that dont have one for example

the whole reason why i disagree is that, now instead of looting your gear, instead you rentaway a vorpal to use, and return later it, most items have already been rendered down to being cheap, like paras, i sell them to vendors.................so if your idea was fair, to the players who worked for their gear then maybe i would agree, but as it stands now, it seems like..

i want my buddy to have 24/7 access to my gear/items/plat, and a guild bank would be great!
in other words its the same as giving him your info for your account, so he has freely access to your stuff

maybe a better idea would be to just give your guild your info? then again it is against game rules to share...so....

That it is a fundamental problem with any game that has a feature such as that. Who do you trust? Who gets access? A feature like that doesn't come without risks. You will always have someone that may be dishonest and untrustworthy. That doesn't mean anything will happen though.

It is a good idea. Makes switching gear to guildies much easier. My normal group of friends and I frequently switch gear between each other. In other games, I've had access to guild banks and such.

One thing that can be done is have it setup like normal Chests. But instead of pulling the list of names from a group, allow it to have a list of names from the guild, or even, a "class" selection. Basically, you put the item in, and set it to whoever you want to loot it.

Best thing you can do, don't invite idiots to your guild. Sounds harsh, but it works. I've aways been a pro-ponent of guild membership requirements and probationary periods. You should have to prove your skill and maturity to a guild to remain a member.

Thats my 2 cp. Take it as you will.

    Smile Alternative Solution

What about letting everyone in the Guild see the contents of the bank and allow them to place a "request" for an item. The user could select the item from the bank space and click on a "request to withdraw" button from the UI.

Then allow Guild Officers/Leaders mark requests as either approved or denied. The officers/leaders could see a new tab on the UI showing pending requests (the character name/class(es)/level who requested it and the item they requested). If the person approves the request then the item is taken from inventory and automatically mailed to the character. All other pending requests for the same item are removed and an automatic message is sent to the other people requesting the item saying "Sorry, the item you requested has been given to another guildmate and is no longer available."

That way, everyone can see what's out there and those in charge can determine if it is appropriate to allow the request through.

Just tossing my 2 cp in.

    Smile I forgot about deposits

In order to keep some control over what can be deposited, allow the Guild Officers/Leaders the ability to provide limits to what can be deposited. Perhaps either a Base Cost or Level Limit or certain categories (either allowed or disallowed - I.e. maybe no collectibles).

That way if the guild for example doesn't want low level stuff in the bank they can set either limit higher. (Conversely if the Guild wants anything put in they can set the values really low).

All guild members would be free to deposit whatever they wanted into the bank as long as it met the criteria specified by the Guild Leader/Officers. The limitations should be prominetly displayed on the UI so people understand what is going on.

I personally think that the more confusing it becomes the less likely ppl will use it... Also the less likely we will get it, as it would take more to develop...

If I was a guild leader would I want to administer who gets what why?

Little story... My daughter's ballet school has a box... it happens to be cardboard... people put the tutus and ballet slippers in it that they have out grown... it's pretty simple.

Maybe the size of the giveaway box would be based upon guild membership or favor or something else and leave it at that...

If some dude wants to put his vorpal in there so be it... if some dude wants to put a masterwork in there so be it... if it getts full of masterwork and no room for the vorpal... someone comes along and cleans it out... if you dont trust your guildies dont put vorpals in there...

another idea I could throw out would be a "bulletin board" /graffiti board.... with bad word filter of course.,.. let ppl leave msgs on it... any guildy can put something up there...

obviously the devs are interested or patience wouldnt be here...

    have fun!

Default Agreed - Simplier is better

It certainly sounds like some folks want an open exchange in the guild bank while others are afraid of people snatching up nice items when they shouldn't (however one might determine that).

To solve both, I hope the developers make the security and access to the Guild banking configurable. If the Guild leaders want to lock it down to restrict deposits and withdrawls they should be able to. Likewise, if the guild prefers a more open environment, they should be allowed to make the bank a free for all too if they wish.

Perhaps a guild-store could be double-tasked to this end. Things that would be given away would be free. Allow that to be configurable so that it can be selected whether or not officers-only can deposit things or buy things.

Though I think a lot of this can be done, without the ingame portion, via guild forums or something.

Perhaps allow guild forums in the DDO forums for such discourses, for those that do not have a guildmate capable of forming a website.

My guild has used a similar system over several games for the last 9 years. In DDO, one of my guildies(who has been with us since UO) has given up his bankbox space to hold items that others send to him. He then posts it on our forums for others to claim. To avoid clutter, after a certain time length he sends any unclaimed items to me (the Guildleader) to auction. All proceeds are then used to buy healing wands, and scrolls for our clerics and healing pots for our fighters.

Sure we have had our problems and I periodically have to chew some butt to remind them how we keep the system running, but it has always worked quite well for us

Its a slightly different bent but I really like the LOTRO function that allows you to post an auction for guild members only (or whatever it was they called them there :P). That let you put up your spare para for 100gp if you like...
