Default Idea for Bank and Backpack space...

Hi Devs, (and this post is meant for devs although other discussion is welcome),

I just wanted to post some ideas for expanding backpack space and bank space. The issue came to light when my wife (who plays as well by the luck of the gods) mentioned that she wished that she was allowed to hold near the 10,000 .lb weight capacity that her STR currently allowed. Limited backpack capacity highlights this gross deficiency in the game. You are now introducing a new mechanic into the game that might alleviate that deficiency in Collectible/Gem bags but why not expound upon that idea for other items as well and make those bags initial weight be very heavy so that only those chars with that weight capacity can use them (i.e. the magic used to bond a larger collapsed universe effects gravity around it and therefore is more dense and heavier for some form of an explanation ;-)

Now as for the bank, why limit what players can store? I understand as far as database space it cannot be unlimited but I hope for far more than we have currently for as the level cap increases this limit becomes more and more frustrating. So I offer a money sink into the game (which I know as a designer you should enjoy) and suggest when you talk to a banker they ask would you like to open bank vault 1 (your original slots) or rent an additional new vault? When you next talk to the banker, Vault 2 would now appear as a new option when rented and is a new set of tabs (as many as your original bank vault had) and make the new vault either be a rather high initial cost (100k plat or more) or cost so much in game plat per week/month (10kplat/50kplat). Please make this auto deduct from player funds if done so. If the player defaults on payment (has no money) then send a mail asking for payment in such and such time or the vault will be closed and said items are sent back to the player in mail while time limits for mail deletion apply. There may be instances in which people may lose items after not playing for a while but hey, learn to pay your bills on time for premium services rendered (player responsibility not devs).

If your database can support such an idea than allow for more bank vaults to be rented for those avid players with the money and items they wish to have stored.

As it is now people create mules to hold items and it is a poor solution to a noticible problem. Thanks for your attention and I hope you consider this suggestion.

Haha... I can't agree more (with the importance of paragraphs).

My eyes hurt trying to read the OP so I won't. If it gets reformatted, I'll give it a shot.

If that is the best feedback that you can provide then I am OH SO glad that you visited my thread. Grammar was not my intention and I was unaware that SCHOOL was in. Just wanted to convey an idea was all...

it has nothing to do with gramar as much as presentation, its HARD to read a hudge block of writing, where its more appealing/easier ( and people might actually read what you type) broken up in paragraphs

    and ty for fixing it

I was also dismayed since waaay back about the limit to storage space, so I picked up a second account. Costly, but it was the only solution since they showed no plans of ever increasing it.

And now that people from a different thread explained how to run two instances on the same pc, I can log into both and just click back and forth quick as a blink and trade stuff off back and forth.

The downside is I don't keep track of what goes where very well, lol. So inventory management can get tedious and lengthy. I even found a few nice items in the last week or two that I completely forgot I had! It was nice.

Even if they did generously increase our bank capacity, I have characters on the other account now that I don't want to get rid of... so I guess i'll still keep payin- haha

Well I think bags to store items in that we could then put in the bank would help increase our storage space without having to increase the size of the bank vault for each player. I think if anything they should increase the storage in the bank and decrease what our Strength says we can supposedly carry because once you get to even a 16 Str you can carry ridiculous amounts of gear and as handy as that is to be able to have every single weapon you might possibly need for any quest it is just a bit silly.

Make it so we have to put the stuff away in the bank and only carry a few weapons into each quest ( as well as only a couple of sets of armor ) and then we have more room for additional loot, but the Str restriction forces you to pick and choose what to take.

The gem bags and collectibles bags coming in mod 5 are a good first step and hopefully they will be followed by quivers for arrows and bolts so bow users do not have to give up an entire inventory bag for arrows enough to last through a quest.

You know ... now that they have the bags in game ... how about bags for:

    Spell Componets!!
    and
    Wands!

I hate having a whole page of wands ... And yeah ... spell components only take up at most 8 slots (7/7 split) right now ... but still ... It will go up in the future!

    oh! also ... Tool Bag!!

If only to keep in the bank so I dont use a whole page (10 sets of tools couldnt take up more space then one set of full plate )

I think now that they have added gem/collection bags they should look into adding Quivers, tool bags, wand bags, scroll bags, componet bags, and potion bags. Between all the arrows, thief tools, and potions my rogue carries I don't have much room for my weapons much less anything I loot. I also know plenty of clerics that have more wands and scrolls than open slots.

We don't have much storage this would atleast help to give us more storage by allowing us to free up some extra space. I don't think they should give us a bag for non stackable items (ie armors, weapons, jewerly etc....) but why not give us the ability to put all our ammo, tools or wands in a bag with like items and out of the way of our weapons.

When was the last time you saw a Dwarf carrying around 2 sets of armor let alone 5 or 6? Or a Ranger carrying 40+bows. I know real life and gaming are 2 different things but picture a ranger with 40 bows in a dungeon, walks around a corner and sees 5 different mob types. Now he unloads all this gear in front of him just to DO anything, begs the mobs to wait while he gets the bow he wants and then fires. Comical at best.

Bank space.....perhaps if you realized that the Devs are trying to keep even a small semblence to the Eberron Campaign Settings and other books on Eberron as well as the 3.5 rules (I know it's a slight semblence but there is SOME there) you might go to your local Barnes and Noble or Gaming store and pick up the books and read about House Kundarak and the banking system. They could be charging you a "monthly fee" for vault space and that space would be limited to 100 pounds total per vault.

You might consider going through and cleaning out some of that excess stuff (I have 2 accounts as well and 2 mules that I go through regularly) and giving it to guildies or selling it on the AH or to the vendors. Yes, Wand Bags and Scroll bags would be great but I wouldn't count on them.

It's funny how the Devs give us a little and it's never enough. People want more space, more bonus weekends, more loot, more free stuff, more more more more more more. Why don't they just put in the following line commands and get it over with:
/GOD - god mode....you know what this is
/plat - gives player 1 million platinum pieces
/spawn wpn (stats of weapon for example +5 Holy Burst Vorpal Longsword of Pure Good Paralyzing Disruption)
/spawn item (stats and type for example +6 to all stats cloak of I'm soooo great you can't touch me)
/nuke - Automatic I win! All monsters in dungeon are dead, all breakables destroyed and quest is auto-completed with max bonuses.

Go ahead....flame away...I know you want to and I really don't care. I'm gonna go spend some time with the family, perhaps game for a bit later on and enjoy things, not cry about what they SHOULD give us or SHOULD put in to make the game easier than it already is.

Well Sneak I did not think about wands I admit, but I skipped over spell components because I thought there already was a bag for them LOL

I don't so much think more bank space is needed, but giving us things to help manage our existing character inventory such as Quivers, Spell Component bags, Gem bags, Collectible bags etc... are good things.
