Default Turbine, can you please STOP with the controversial fixes?

This is an open letter to please stop spending time on controversial fixes for now. Spend your time working on advancing this game and saving it from dying. I sincerely doubt people are leaving the game in boatloads because you can /death in a quest or 4-man a raid mission. This may be debatable but I doubt you're going to see many exit surveys with "game too exploitable" in the comments.

I can, however, guarantee you that unless you start getting serious with your pro-active and long-term development of this game, there won't be many left.

I'm not saying don't fix those things. I'm saying can you please put them off until you have a handle on the future of this game. Priorities are clearly, clearly out of whack. 3 content updates late (in a row) and we already know the next module will be late. So please, enough of the fixes that you have to un-do or alter (see raid loot compromise) thereby wasting MORE of your time. Spend your time on things that are going to pave the way for growth in this game.

Hey I liked that, they need to change it back. Now when I buy stuff for other people I have to split stacks.

And my point was, that no matter WHAT Turbine does, someone will be cranky about it. If they add new content, 10 people will say, "Well you can add a whole new questing area, but you couldn't fix this tiny little bug." Or if they fix this tiny little bug 10 people will say, "Why are you fixing this tiny little bug when we need a whole new questing area."

There is an upoper limit to the number of people who can work on new content. Meaning there comes a time when throwing more people on it will be counter productive. So if there are a few devs laying around after that upper limit is reached why not have them run with other fixes while the other teams work on new content.

Sure you can concentrate on inventory stacking etc... but when I was talking about contrversial fixes, I was talking about trip, sunder, evasion, spell points, spell duration, AoE effects, etc etc etc. There was a lot of controversy about these fixes, on both sides. These are the "fixes" I was talking about and I think most understood that.

    Agree and disagree.

    Agree -
They are waisting alot of time on fixes that I'm not sure are really fixes. While things like Monks, Druids, Guild housing, crafting all fall by the wayside. Seems their prioties are a bit mixed up.
The game doesn't need more "fixes" it needs more stuff. More classes, more spells, prestige classes, crafting, guild houses. It kind of reminds me of a person who keeps moving the couch going, "Ok now its perfect...no wait I like it better there, no wait there, noo..." Just leave it and move on to better things please.

    Disagree -
Unfortunatly every change is controversial. I'm sure when or if they release monks youll have a handful who will whine and moan about how they weren't made properly or some bologny like that.

    1) People who do the code design for "controversial fixes" are different than the people who design / create new content. The DDO dev team has stated this time and time again and it's a well known fact in EVERY "major" MMO that has ever existed. Doing X doesn't mean that Y has to suffer for it.

...ok, I really only had that 1 thing, so starting it as a list was silly. But seriously...you people act like you've never worked in a team project environment before. That would be a like a major website company that had an art department and a page design department fielding complaints because new images were created instead of updating the page...one has nothing to do with the other as the two teams are completely separate.

I understand you're upset, and certain people onlyseem to post negative things and complaints about DDO now-a-days, but seriously...this one just requires some thinking to understand.

Instead of making controversial changes just add new content and fix things that are blatantly in need of fixing.

I understand that creat and fix are 2 differnt fuctions with different teams....our point is fix stormcleave...how long has that thing been broken, fix the toughness respec problem (I know it's getting address in this update) ....why fix something that does not improve the game for anyone....now if hey have to do this to address one of silly exploit's of the reaver raid that's sad....i would think there's a better way to stop that but I don't code so what do i know
