Doesn't really seem like that a big deal to me really, be a little better prepared, make sure you don't have all hp and dps and 0 saves, get someone to cure what ails you, or just deal with being, cursed, having neg levels or being a Pigeon roost.

/Death I have always said and always will say was/is a cheesy way out of problem.

while it does make you think, it causes alot of problems, and only solve some

like i already said in another thread, i was in infernos damned, and somehow i got separated from my group, and was teleported elsewheres, only to find myself in the middle of a huge mob, chugging pots, wand healing, and i went incapped, i stable right beside the shrine, less then a foot away and i couldnt even use it, yes i could have waited for my group to come save me? and be bored for the next hour or two? or i could have released and taken a XP hit, their is really no reason to why i should not be able to /death and use the shrine

the way i see it, is if you want to die, then let us die, people are going to die reguardless of it anyways, if they cant /death then they will just stand there, with no false life item, no con item, no armor, no shield, and just die, and people will still just pick them up and go to town......i didnt even know /death in town was a exploit till people on here keeps saying its a exploit to /death in a tavern when you are pvping? when you have that curse from the cruicible? when you are too poor to buy a heal for femmblemind?

really, why was /death here in the first place, and now taken out?

people call it cheesy, and so what do you really care soo much that someone /death? are you getting a XP debt from it aswell? i mean really when someone /death, it has nothing to do with anyone else, but that person, i guess we will see how cheesy it is when you are still in the quest after 3 hours of waiting for a GM to remove you from the spot you got stuck at, while the rest of the group leaves

and it always bugs me to hear people say over and over and over "i have 10 neg lvls, i have 10 neg lvls, i have 10 neg lvls"
and the cleric is walking around with no sps

if someones saves are too low, and wont save, more likely they will not be helped, and just be told to /death and just re enter with the XP penalty, with the new /death

It has always bugged me to hear people say "just /death".

Just /death and the rogue will take us to the chest. Just /death to get rid of your negative levels...etc...etc...etc....

    Good change really.

I like the change to /death. It shoud have always been this way.

Death should have never been a game mechanic for quest completion. Nor should it be a fail-safe or tactic used to create second chances.

Death is death. Its purpose in-game is to create an instant, surprising end to what your character was currently doing.

Whine if you want, but your cries fall on deaf ears.

I just can't think of ANY "misuse" of /death that was common enough to warrant this "fix". Revert it, please. And while you're at it, if you're going to HAVE a recall function, might as well let people do it on the run again, instead of forcing them possibly to get killed and take an XP loss in order to accomplish pretty much the same thing.

to get rid of multiple neg levels
to go get sp (although this really won't be effected by change)
to avoid traps (ala crucible underwater chest)

I am sure there are others I just woke up though and can;t think of them off the top of my head.

And the Dev responded to that telling you it was a mistake and that it should/will only auto recall when you do this while concious in the future releases.

The only legit use of /death while you are concious is to get out of a situation where you are "stuck" due to a ddo bug. I think I"ve seen that 3 times in 9 months of play. (**** shrine once spawned ON TOP of me in Tor and trapped me inside of it). So now we may have to wait for a GM or recall out in those cases. Most of the /death use in quest was exploits.

I cannot begin to count the number of times I have been "stuck" in quests.

Having scrolls of break enchantment will not help since you still have to roll against the monster that cast it.

I don't know if stone to flesh works the same way.

my whole issue with the change to /death is cleric getting feebleminded.

If they can solve this one, I might listen to what they have to say.

Have to say I like this change.

/death is an easy solution to too many situations
Thelanis, The Band of the Shifting Sands:
Nen (Barb/Ranger, Founder) / Emeril (Cleric, Founder) / Kraxkit (Dex Ranger) /
Klyde (DPS Barbarian) / Sojourne (Rogue, Trapsmith) / and many others

Yeah this is the biggest problem that I can see. Once again the healing class gets to take care of it for the rest of the group but when they get afflicted they are SOL (kinda like the Xp loss before they changed it to be 50% regardless of shrines or rez scroll, clerics got screwed there) and once again it looks like turbine is content to tweak game content instead of actually give us new stuff to play.

Dimension door will get you out of most stuck spots too, and it can get you out being stuck in the shrine in the tor also.

/death was a wonderful way to get carried past the spikes in the crucible underwater death maze.

Guess I'll need to learn the swim if I want that last nice chest!! So long backpocket.

Devs are aware of the feeblemind problem and are loking into it. Possibly by making shrines cure it or a specific potion for it (not heal pot). Check the other thread.
