    Default new tomes

i have thought about this for a while now, and i decided to see what other actual players thought of the idea.

i have grown pretty bored with the thought that the only real 'goal' for my characters are +3 tomes that would put me at odd stat numbers anyway, so what about this. introduce new tomes to the game. how about protection and resistance tomes? that would be 4 new raid drops for us to go after. am i alone in thinking this might persuade people to do more raids? i only need 3 +3 tomes between 2 different characters, so the new tomes would give me a new goal to work for.

is this a bad idea or something that would give us a little more sense of goal with the excruciating slow rate of new content? flames welcome.

Well consider that even if the +3 puts you at an odd number.. You can fix it.

Ie save yourself 2-6 AP from dropping your class or racial enhancement for that stat.. Then spend that on something else useful.

that is the plan, however i was curious to see what people thought of introducing new tomes.

I dont know about Prot because deflection is not something a character has naturally. I could see something that gave a permanent +1-3 inherent bonus to one save as being a nice rare drop or raid loot. Someone a while back had suggested skill tomes. I would support that too.

    Wait..bad, baad idea, skill tomes!

Just regular stat tomes only, please.

But wouldn't skill tomes make more sense? Seems to me reading a book about locksmithing would be more functional than one on improving eye-hand coordination.

Well, maybe so, in that light...

+3 tomes are rare indeed! I would not want any other tomes blocking a +3 stat tome from dropping...

Problem with adding more tomes is adding more **** to the tables . Voting no here. +3 tomes are more then rare enough and now adding some useful but more then likely more useless type tomes would just make it even harder because of the way loot rolls already.

Nah ... I would go with +1 to +5 and NOT stack.
Then we could laugh at the guy that paid 6,000,000 pp for ONE skill point

I'd say no to skill tomes, but I'd say yes to a free feat tome, a stackable +1 or 2 resistance, or a stackable +1 or 2 natural AC tome. I'd really like to see +2 stat tomes back in the general loot tables already most of all though.

+2 stat tomes are already in the tables ... you just have to be in a quest thats high enough level. We were pulling them from PoP on the +1 loot weekends and devs have mentioned they do(will?) drop as normal treasure in raids. I do believe I had a guildie mention they got one in a normal chest in Reaver elite.
