As I am not a techie, and I absolutely suck at these types of things, I need a ****** proof way of doing this.

Well, I think Risia is a bit more up to date than say patching from the disk. It's probably only the last few updates it has to download. Still that's a good couple hours at least.

From what I can tell the last download of Risia was from Mod 4 or around there.

Or possibly find someone you know that already has it and will send you a copy they burn onto CDs or DVDs.

Of course (no offense here) you could opt for looking for a faster connection. Available to some not all of course, but you can shotgun connections if you really want some more speed (but shotgunning really only gains speed for downloading, not uploading). I shotgun a pair of premium high speed cable connections and can download (or did when I was granted access to Risa originally) the executable in about 35 mins.

I never even installed it though so I cant speak on the size of the patches.

Well I was averaging between 400 and 500 kb/s so it took a bit but it wasnt bad.
