Shouldn't that be Immunity to Knock Down?

trip/knockdown anything, it would be nice though to have a counter to things like the marilith/wind elementals

though technicaly, if they are that heavy, you shouldnt beable to swim at all.... you should 'walk' on the bottom of the water.

I think if you had boots that were heavy enough to keep you standing up, and an air elemental came and tried to knock you down that your ankles would break and you would be on the ground anyway.

    Ouch.

Lol ya, that would be bad lol. Maybe a save mechanism? You have to make a reflex save or take a bit of damage, but you still dont get knocked down.

Maybe a FoM clickie 1/day... Freedom of Movement and Immunity to Trip seems like an excessive amount, maybe if they were a raid item?

I remember back when they increase the immunities of the named monsters, the reasoning they gave was that if players had access to all these items that gave them immunities to all this stuff, then it would stand to reason that powerful monsters should also be able to make similar preparations.

So let's turn that back around on them: if monsters have such easy access to items of trip/knockdown immunity to the extent that every single red and purple named monster in the game has these items custom tailored to their feet, shouldn't it stand to reason that players should also be able to make similar preparations?

Well doesn't it? Come on, let's see some consistency in the reasoning you're giving us, unless it was all just a bunch of bs.

trip immunity + freedom of movement would be a bit too powerful, hence its on boots, so that a player wont have both freedom and trip immunity, sure they can still get the spell casted on them, but dispel can fix that

    Nice idea..

Could be a good reward for the new lich raid.

Tho id say take off the reflex penalty that kinda hurts and would result in those wind elementals killing u with lightning bolts instead. Or maybe drop it to -2.

These crude gray boots allow oneself to never be blown or knocked down but provide a -200% penalty to run speed and a -600 penalty to swim checks.

And can only be put on the wearer by a guy in an adidas suit, spewing italian expletives.

Also, they negate the effects of underwater breathing and underwater action. However, when a warforged wear them, they dont get the run speed and swim penalties unfortunately they do make them super heavy and gain -200 to jump and tumble.

Does water have a bottom? hehe.

I like the idea of the thread though, although I personally don't see this happening. But any form of item, spell, ability, whatever that will lessen the knockdown chances would be greatly sought after. The wind elementals and some of the canine mobs are just ridiculous.

On a side note I really dont see the purpose of the balance skill. Standing up is pretty much a non-issue for any adult pibedal humanoid that can be done withough any real thought at all. Why it takes so long to simply stand up seems dumb to me. Sure it may be a little more difficult while in full plate, but not as it is now. I would think the whole purpose of "Balance" would be to keep yourself from falling down, not being able to stand up. We're not infants trying to learn how to walk. When you see a "balancing" act at the circus, is it ever an event of you watching someone trying to stand up? Nope, its watching someone do something that requires balance not to fall down. Yet in DDO it takes balance to stand up, and balance has nothing to do with being able to stay on your feet. Seems dumb to me.

Now if balance had a part in keeping you from being knocked down, I would be all in favor of that and it would have a greater purpose in my view. I have a fighter with a high balance and one with a negative balance...both take forever to stand back up with no noticable difference in the time it takes to do so.

Hey... Thats my Earth/Stone tanker in CoH. With the Rooted power on I regen health MUCH faster, can't be held/knocked down but slow to a crawl and can't jump. I had to take the Swift power as it is the ONLY thing that lets me maneuver in combat and since all my attacks have Knock-up/Knock-down and send foes flying, it's nice to be able to move.

Not sure if this would be a good idea if they used the sound mechanic for it like the one used in the RPG Record of the Lodoss War on the Dreamcast. With iron boots, as you ran around the gaming world you constantly heard clang Clang CLang CLAng CLANg CLANG!!!! god make it stop....the horror. Anyway, watchout for noisy footsteps as they attract nearby monsters.
