    Default Barb 1HF?

Probably a waste of time but..

I'd kinda like to build a 1 hand warrior, using an axe, but not wering heavy armour.
Now- I know there's no way he'll keep up with the DPS of a 2HF or TWF, but
I was thinking if you take the first couple of levels as human fighter to get power attack/cleave, could you end up making a decent dps character?

It would be a 28pt character with access to no real gear or tomes,
    Was thinking going human fighter
    18-14-14-8-8-8

Grab PA and cleave at lvl 1, and maybe Dwarven axe
Probably Weapon Focus Slashing at lvl 2, then switching to barb.

Could this work or would it just be a hopeless mess at 14?

Anotehr question (maybe not really for this forum, but I assume someone will know)
Are the Dwarven Axe/Bastard swords that much superior over Battleaxe/Longswords that it's worth burning a feat on them?
I was thinking the extra possible 2 dmg pts aren't, but really have no idea what it's like at the endgame.

I'm not going to address the first point, because the answers are likely to be way too controversial. Well, really the answer is way too dependent on your style of play and what you are looking for out of the game.

But, as to the second, no. They extra damage is not worth a feat. The big advantage of Bastard swords is a small demand for them. That might make it a worthwhile feat, but probably not. Since Dwarves can use Dwarven Axes, there is a reasonable demand. They are definitely not worth expending a feat on.

The only exotic that is generally considered worthwhile is the Khopesh. That extra Crit multiplier can really add up.

I'll assume that to mean the concept might work if I'm a good player who knows what he's doing..
so we'll go with no it won't

And thanks, I kinda figured it was a character concept/availability thing for the weapons.
Just don't like the looks of Khopesh, think I'll stick with the axe.

    Thanks!

I don't think its worth having any ac if you can't hit 50 unbuffed, but the build would work iv seen a few barbs who use shields and like using them.

I'd recommend a dwarf, though. More HP, and all the axe enhancements.

You get Dwarven Axe for free, so it's sort of a bonus feat too.
I play on Ghall...Gall..Galli...The new Fernia. Lifetaker, Heartbreaker, and Battlemage
Terrakal: Roguey Stabby guy. Gyness the Stout: I drink to hide my rage. Gyshe: Race: Elf. Class: Elf. Roomsweeper: Boomsticks. Ramparts: Pally Intimitank. Crucible: Hammer and Tongs. And Shafted: Cleric* Archer *Not a cleric.
