    Default Trading LFMs

since i cant post one, so cant you! something happened yesterday some farmer(well, he claimed he had 5 accounts) was arguing with me and he started to insult me when i said i would report him. therefore, from now on when i see any type of trading lfm i will send a tell give 1 final warning. if any objections, conversation ends there and i report that person right away.

Yeah, don't they understand they have a whole forum just for trades!! I actually did this once in the past and got a warning from a GM, haven't done it since. I usually tell people that I've been warned for it before, and that you can get banned for it. I don't like seeing people get banned for dumb stuff like that. They should be banned for stupidity!!!!

i've been sending tells to many players if i see a lfm up. most of them are polite and thanked me for the warning. players who refuse to take them down and insults me get a straight report to GM. in the past week i've gotten at least 5 players to take down their lfm w/o any incidents. but should any1 try be smart, i'll not tolerate it. its you just desserts

Agreed. I send them a tell now. But they should really consider a trade tab in the social panel.. I have argued this point before I guess i havent cause enough drama yet .

IMO not enough attention on the forum and most people are just talk on the forum. Atleast in game you can walk up to the person and make the trade most people wait before or after they log out to check the forums. Why not be able to check trades in game?

this is what i heard. from gms point of view, trading on lfms disrupts the ah system and takes up lfm space for real looking for party groups, so it is banned. which on second thought is a stupid explaination, lfm came before ah and ppl used to do all kind of things on lfm. ah can be a rip off sometimes just look at the ah fee when u sold an item.

It's just plain annoying when you are looking for a group. That's why it's banned.

there is a time and place for anything. LFM = looking for member, not looking for merchandise. creativity has its place, just sometimes people do not consider the boundaries.

I usually just report them first, let the GM take care of it. It is well known to be a bannable violation. People who do it, get reported.

All the hardcore LFM traders (self included) from old Khyber have warnings. We dont even get a warning next time, straight to 3day ban. Most of us are too scared to even try LFM trading anymore.

Its very funny to me this subject. If I'm in a quest and a mob don't spawn or a key don't drop or there is some technical reason I need a GM I fill out a request and usually (sometimes there are exceptions) its not responded to for a half hour at least sometimes maybee more. Now if I post a LFM trade, look out! There on my case within 10min. Also I get warnings from people I don't even know. Seriously a trade LFM isn't that much more harmfull than the spam plat farmer mails. Just scroll past them and go on with your fun. In the rare case there might be something you can use then it might actually be worth the trouble for you.

Along the same lines anyone remember in old EQ the trader caves near Freeport where people would meet and spam thier trades in /general chat? Now that was annoying. This was before they created a bazaar. I'm wondering though in DDO its ok to just blab your trades in /general right? I know I'm asking for trouble, but o-well there needs to be a black market the coin lords don't have thier pockets in (and I don't mean plat farmers)..

I really don't see this much anymore, I did see one that was a combo LFM/Trading one, need such and such for this quest ALSO trading a + whatever of uberness Don't bug me but it used to get bad where a majority of the LFM's were for trades.

Watch out everyone! Self-appointed hall monitors are on the loose! No longer are you allowed to take the inherent risk and commit suicide and get banned, no longer are you allowed to hang yourself, we now have a crack squad of busybodies to do that for you!

Actually it is doing the LFMer a favor. Maybe they are new and don't know it's a bannable offense. Not quite sure what your agenda was with all the sarcasm, of course you'll probably think I'm the forum hall monitor now......That is all.

did you fail to read th OP? here ill regergitate excerpts for ya:

"since i cant post one, so cant you! ...therefore, from now on when i see any type of trading lfm i will send a tell give 1 final warning. if any objections, conversation ends there and i report that person right away."

This is the classic, I cant you cant argument.

I am all for giving out freindly advice as Boldrin pointed to, but she clearly states, "from now on when i see any type of trading lfm i will send a tell give 1 final warning"

Thats being self appointed. You dont warn people, and even if you did "warn" that person, then you dont go to the point of "report that person right away"

thats just lame, let them hang themselves and learn the hard way.

I did it once and got warned, learned about trades on here and haven't done it since, I do not need self appointed "players" to regulate me. If I ignore the GM and choose to do it again and get banned then i deserve it.

prolly you weren't in riedra. riedra is a tight knit server and almost anyone knows everyone. some of the players who post trades are friends whom we enjoy playing with. a 3 day ban equates to much less gaming together and in some of the cases, led to cancelling of accounts. we value of friendships and thus take the effort to warn fellow players.

if you feel otherwise, fine, but do not detract those that do it out of good intentions. it just shows the type of person you are
