Default Why are there alot of guildless poeple.

Im not trying to start anything, but, I was just wondering since the merger I have seen alot of toons running around that dont belong to any guild.

Alot of them come from either Sarlona or Aerenal, as I never seen the names before on Adar.

On Adar it seemed probally about 95% of the server, belonged to a guild. As I hardly ever was in a group with a nonguilded lvl14 toon when I was pugging.

Since the merge most groups I have joined have had at least one person that did not belong to a guild.

Was this the norm on Sarlona or Aerenal? or im I just seeing more nonguilded people because there are more poeple on, making it seem like there are alot of nonguilded people.

I am asking this here, because I dont like to bother people about joining a guild while I play, if they want to join they would ask.

some people dont think they wuld be on enuf for a guild so they dont bother to join one. also if someone likes to run with lots of people from diff guilds they might be inclined not to join one in fear some of those people would stop runin with them.

There were always a reasonable number of unguilded players/toons on Sarlona from what I recall. It was not uncommon to have a few in any given PUG you might hook up with.

It provides some freedoms, since you arrive in a PUG with no expectations of playstyle, however you might also need to prove yourself more to others since you have no guild pedigree.

Still learning about the new guilds in the land as well and how they like to play, since I do PUG a bit with my characters when nothing going on for them in guild....

It was unusual to find a player un-guilded on Aerenal...must be from Sarlona.

I just played for the first time in 2 weeks and was surprised by the amount of unguilded people--esp at level 14.

IMHO, On Sarlona before the merge at level 14 there were not that many people unguilded cept when maybe a guild disbanded. At the lower levels, some people just seem to wait to see if they like the way they are rolled before putting the guild tag on. And then we do seem to get alot of new players to game, but these people usually find a guild by level 10 or so.

Maybe, some people didn't really like their old guild, and are taking advantage of the server merge to shop for a new one.

    Default guildlessnessessess...ess

Not everyone likes to be in a guild.

Some people like to control their own destinies.
Being in a guild means you follow the rules set up by that guild.
Very individualistic peeps might find it hard to find a guild that they feel
has the same ideas and agendas as them. They might enjoy more the
freewheeling style of pug ing and soloing without rules and requirements.
    Not all guilds like that.

Some people have had bad experiences whith their former guilds.
People are people. Some times they are mean. Sometimes they are selfish.
They might not have everyones best interest in mind when setting the rules and standards.
Perhaps they were personally insulted in a former guild. Perhaps they were harrassed.
    Perhaps they were ignored.

Some people like to play with a lot of different people.
Guilds sometimes require their members to hold guild groups above all others
and consider their members BAD if they group with their friend from Opposing Guild
or that guy named Guildless One.

    Perhaps they are roleplaying.
Outcast from birth, their character wanders friendles, guildless through life,
forced to make their way alone. The burden of the outcast.

Perhaps they can't find THE RIGHT FIT.
When I was looking to offer all my character to a new guild and asked for advice
I was told that finding the right guild was all about FIT...
Good thing I finallly found it.

    Guilds die.
Membership falls off for whatever reason. No members active means no guild.
Hard to stay loyal to those that have abandoned you...

I have been in guilds that died, ones that did not have the right fit, ones that played
cruel games on their members, had extremely restrictive rules and ones that had such skewed
    values I just couldnt stay.

Quiting all the guilds I belonged to and going solo was a hard choice for me. I had
been in a group of friends for a long time but they stopped playing. I had my 6
characters in 4 different guilds. One of which I actually liked. Then it died.

I spent a month alone and adrift.

Then I auditioned for VCA. Now I am all VCA. Have been since November!
...It is the right fit for me. It took a long time to find it.

I started going guildless with my 32 pt buillds. Sick of the politics and bickering that was going on in the guilds I was in. Also, I'm more of a part-time / casual gamer that takes months to get my toons leveled up. Most of the guilds I was in were power levelers that had a toon to level 14 within week. Just doeesn't fit my style.

QFT. My reasons. I have 1X14lvl and 2X13 lvls and i dont' belong to any guilds, and i've played since beta. I've been invited several times to one or the other. All by really nice people. But my wife and I play in spurts. I alternate between DDO and EVEOnline. I feel its not fair to the guild. But the main reason is that my wife and i are borderline isolationists. Being hampered/tied down to rules is uncomfortable. I've ran into some guilds that pull their members out of pug quests mid-quest and that leaves a bad taste all around. Also, being told RAID at this time or that, be there or *insert punishment here*. Plus, if i run my mouth at an impromptu time, then the guild looks bad. Anyway. There you go.

Ouch...been in a couple of guilds in my time and they have all tended to be much more lassire-faire in nature. More along the lines of a bunch of players who have similar playstyles and enjoy friendly banter with each other. Very little of this rules and politics every filtered down to me (if there ever were any). I know sometimes people left to find their own way at times when subsets of players shifted their focus of play.

We tend to enjoy the play, not sweat the wipes and move on. Look for compentent play, but understand that mario brothers is not for everyone...sigh.

I have been in guilds that required all your alts to join...
I have been in guilds in which the leader left the guild for another and did not invite any to follow...
I have been in guilds where only the guild leader had any idea why I was in it...
I have been in guilds which bad mouthed me to KNOWN friends...I got invited into the guild...

    <sigh>

    I like VCA...no...I LoVe VCA...
    Because of the PEEPS.

Oh...to the OP... and others still wondering...why there are good, knowledgeable, guildless players with several capped characters...

Not every invite is wanted (learned the hard way).
Not every guildless is guild hunting.
What seems like a poite invite...might be one of many received that day...
If they don't join you, it should be no reflection on you or your guild...
No matter how much you encouraged them...
    (Plat, scrolls, wands, weapons....special gifts!)
They still may not join you.
They may join and leave in a few days...
The guild that makes yoou happy might not make everyone happy...

    Shhhhh...
VCA can do what they will with me (and they have)
    I will not leave!

    One item to note.

Since the mergers, I have seem some faces and names of people from long ago. Some have come back to give things another try and see what they have missed.

Like anything, there is Guild turnover. They have probably chosen to not associate with any ONE guild for the time being. Also, with the amount of PUGs, it is pretty darn easy to run anything. (even raids)

Becasue Im a hermit and live in a hole.

j/k - Never been in a guild on this game because I like to run PUGs and meet new people. Im still kinda picky about the PUG I join, but to be honest, I have never needed a guild to excel at this game. I guess having 5 characters that can jump into about any PUG thats worth running helps too.

Not only that but my main is a cleric and has never had any probelems getting into a group or a raid. Im sure everyone has there own reasons thuogh as I can only speak for myself.

I went guildless for quite sometime on Sarlona and both of my 14s on khyber are guildless although they are in transit to sarlona.

Basically a couple bad experiences with guilds left a bad taste in my mouth. I have played mmo's for 8 years and after awhile you see they really arent that necessary unless you must raid and loot run non stop. That being said its great finding a good guild and the folks in Mystical have been great since I joined recently. One of the nice things about DDO too is that there is a very active PuG system. For my first character i went right to 14 guildless and had no troubles and hes a rogue even.

I think the hardest part is finding one to match your style if you are not a powergamer. Powergamer guilds are a dime a dozen. Finding Decent casual guilds, non-rushing or roleplaying or whatever other type is a lot more hit and miss and a bad choice can make the game a lot less attractive.

The worst part about being guildless is blind invites that pop up on screen. Im not talking about people asking questions and recruiting but just the no tell nothing said invite to a guild. So many times Ive had a group member in a PuG do it. Im like..dude Im in your friggin group at least say something. I had one guy on khyber invite me like 4 days in a row without a word...even when I sent him tells asking about him and his guild.

I was guildless for most of my early paladin career. I just wanted to hang out with lunette... so we just kinda ran round. But on Aerenal it was hard to find a group without a guild so I joined eventualy

as a member of mythical its no suprise you dont know why people dont jump into your guild its understandable ( no offence love most of you but the guild never had the best reputation on adar as it stood before the merger ) but there are two reasons why people at level 14 dont have guilds

one they where in a guild and found it was all about politics (been there done that)

in a guild where the leader was either to busy polishing his vorpal to keep order or set rules and guildlines and thus everyone quit on them (RIP Questors of immortailties golden years)

or they just decided that its easy enough to get a party with people if they are good they dont need a guild to prove that they just need to be in the right place at the right time

for example Daldorf is a great cleric never had a problem with his work if he doesnt want a guild then why bother him with it when he decides hey I been playing alot with sons of might or coalition of might or mythical or eridani light horse or fire and ice or the thousands of other guilds from other servers now merged .... then maybe he will say sure invite me to your guild and there will be one less unguilded good player

but really there is no point in being in a guild really

i have guild pride cause i love the people i party with i would say a good 80% of the people i party with on a day to day are in my guild the other 20% are part of only a select few other guilds people from Satisfaction guarunteed blood cloaks death jesters eridani COM fire and ice covenant even mythical as well as many others but i can always look em up on the who or in my friends lists i dont need to be guilded with them to party with them

until guild halls or guild favor gets implamented being in a guild is pointless unless you dislike being the one to form a party then a guild is good because there is always someone willing to comb the who list for others to join in what ever raid or mission

push comes to shove if they dont want to be guilded by you doesnt mean they dont want to be guilded and if it does mean they dont want to be guilded why do you even care???

With all but my RP character I dropped out of all my guilds. In each guild I have been in, only one has really felt like a home and they are all but disbanded now (Section 8).

I know some don't feel like they can live up to the standards, or that the guilds don't live up to the players standards. I always PUG, in a guild or not, so I guess I would say that I just never lived up to the guilds standards. My groups were lucky to have more than two others from my same guild cause if I didn't get a response to a quest request within 2 minutes I would throw up the PUG.

To each his own but, I have to disagree.
Guild chat is Priceless!! This alone, is worth being in a guild. Guild Chat tends to be rather humorous and stuff.

But seriously, many many months back b4 anyone had beaten the Titan and the Queen just came out, having a strong guild that could flag people effeceintly and organize to get this stuff done, and spend the hours it took to figure the Titan out was a bonus to me. I left a small guild that rarely had run the dragon, and it really changed the game for me to join NSR.

Sure things are different now that everyone can 2 and 3 man this stuff and we are all Gods with the best loot in the game, but who knows maybe Turbine with throw something challenging our way again?

The other bonus is that alot of my rare loot has come from guildies, most of us all know what each other is looking for and usually just give it to them. Do I sell my scales on the AH? No I give the ones I don't need to guildies. Someone needs relics to flag another alt for the Reaver, we give it to them. Someone needs to flag a new alt for all the raids we get it done for them fast. In Raids Guildies Don't roll on items if someone else needs it more. Someone needs that last 56 pts in favor, we do it, etc. And while most of this can all be done in PUGS, its just faster to do it with the Guild, or my guild in particular.

I think your right on about why to be in a guild, but I have to say that becoming uber too fast has also been a huge downfall to this game. Not to say it is because of guilds, but I have seen far too many guilded players leave the game because they leveled and uber looted too fast.

I would have to say, not being in an uber guild will definitely prolong the enjoyment of this game for a lot of people. I know it is great to have the ultimate build and for me that really makes the game worth it, but I personally have always liked the challenge of doing it myself. Don't get me wrong, I have gotten so much help from so many cool peeps in the game, but for the most part, I had a much more challenging experience.

But I guess in the end, if you have meet good friend in a guild then you win no matter what speed you play, so not matter what you decide, just make sure your havin fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been at one time or another part of two of adars largest guilds as well as part of two elite player small guilds

I love being in a guild would never go unguilded but really there is no benifit to it other then guild chat

if i want a party and no one is on my guild list do you think i just logg off and wait for them ... hell no if they arent running stormreaver and i want a staff i just run one myself unless it conflicts with a guild raid which i am prolly on myself in that case Questors of Immortaity was at one time one of the four biggest guilds on adar and Coalition of Might got so big that we had to create sons of might just to keep raids orginized and filter out different issues most of which where comical at worst ..... i have played with more then 70% of adar for sure in pugs that have done everything cept for maybe titan with me some of which i dont even know what guild there in cause i dont care

I could list off a bunch of people not in my guild that if i am forming a group i want to have them in there

What a guild is for is to gather like minded people into a strong and firm community of personalities which help make the process of leveling and waiting for updates more enjoyable this is why i am in a guild this is why 90% of the people in DDO are in a guild or they just there cause they want to be in A guild just for the name

i know lots of people who joined children of loth just because it was an all drow guild and halfling commandos who where all halflings

and i am sure there are lots of exclusive guilds too the only one that is openly in your face about it on serlona and formerly adar is Mythical who all other guilds tend to stay away from for some reason or another

Pakrah is a cool guy and dont have issues with at least 30% of the ones i have met but some have learned to hate them for there exclusivity

shoot not just anyone gets into sons of might either

all i am saying is there is no actual game value to a guild so if you talk to people you like in tells or just party with people you like and dont want to choose a single group that works too

some people just hate politics and controversy and debating

you should talk to aerioch he is the master debater ......

can talk your ear off if you let him lol
