Or how you buy the 75% returning arrows only to have only 11 out of 100 after less then 300 firings.

What, you mean 25%-50% of your arrows aren't supposed to fall apart when fired, causing no attack roll or damage? Where's the challenge in that? I see it as a game, sort of like Russian Roulette in reverse. How many shots do I have to fire before I actually register a hit again?
Seriously though, can you imagine how people would react if even a small portion of the melee swings didn't even get an attack roll? But this is ranged combat, so who cares![]()

Nothing wrong with the returning arrows.
I've also noticed that when I shoot and don't roll, no amo is taken from my inventory. I purposely put the amo in my hot bar to watch this.
Freeman, actually melee's are missing their rolls. The problem is they attack rate is so fast compared to range, they never realize they are missing rolls. For the most part there is no issue with melee, but I have been in several cases when I just wasn't rolling when I should have. and yes, it is still happening.
I am praying to see a huge fix for this in Mod 5. (undocumented/undeclared of course) But man... what I wouldn't give to have the old weapon attack bug back and people get banned for using it. Ranged wasn't broken back then.
I was joking about the animation without the attack rolls, not the returning arrows. I haven't seen any problem with them either, but then I also haven't been using ranged attacks as much lately either. I also haven't noticed my melee characters missing attack rolls, damage rolls, or any of the other problems that ranged characters face. Now if the mob is moving, then both melee and ranged aren't likely to touch the mob.(Ranged has a better chance if it is moving towards or away from you char in a straight line, but melee is out of luck) I don't think that is the same issue though, but they could easily be related. But I've never seen a melee character not get attack rolls on mobs that were holding still. I see it fairly often on my ranged character. A fix would be nice, but considering that it has been messed up since around Mod 2 or so, I'm not holding my breath.(I think the problems were different in the beginning, but I don't count it as a fix if one problem was substituted for another)

I agree that Ranged combat needs to be fixed. I also have been a victim of melee attacks not getting a roll, when soloing in the (I forget the name, the one you swim to and get the book in the harbor), anyway I have swung away several times at Zombies I am standing next two and no attack roll. I end up haveing to run away and come back to get it to roll.
