Default Thoughts on September MOD 5?

Well now that Quiron has finally said that mod five will be coming sometime after mid-September, I'm just curious to everyones thoughts?

As far as myself, I enjoy the idea of being able to shortman raids for a couple more weeks and take advantage, though I honestly detest the thought of spending an extra month running gianthold quest on elite. It's getting pretty old to me anyway, even the loot. I'm deffinately ready for the two base level 15 quest.

I'd rather wait and have it be good then have them rush it and spend the next two weeks with bugs, down time and hot fixes. If they are already realizing that they need more time based on QA and Risia then I hope they take all they need. The last thing DDO needs now are rollbacks.

I'm hoping it is setting in to the folks at Turbine that their plans need to be less ambitious. Having a major content release (as major as they get for DDO), replacing the engine for various internals, and changing the way metamagic, is just too much all at once (I've been involved with trying to code and QA large quarterly software releases, and I'll take the monthly releases over that any day).

Now that they have slipped in a major way twice, I'm hoping they understand the reason they initially went with a release per month .... so that each could address a few particular issues and add some content on a reguar, predictable schedule... and get back to it. The new model, go two months and add one quest and a minor set of changes, and an overall four/five months with no major new content (heck, only ONE piece of new content) and only internal changes that the users can't really notice, is going to drive them into the ground.

Now, I do like a lot of the changes they are making, and most everything is for the better. That they are paying attention to little details, and addressing some long standing issues is great. But the instance model they have choosen (which I love), requires a constant stream of new content. They need to get back to it, or all their work will be for nothing.

I guess I'll have the time to go and run those Shadow Tomb quests now. Still haven't done all four or five of them.

I think they waste too much time revamping stuff that is not that important. Yes the metamagic is my favorite part of the update, but do you really need to revisit The plane of night, Temus spine, and the like? Sure it is easy for us to do on lvl 14s, but it should be it is a lvl 10 quest! I like to run my lowbies on it at this lvl. New content should be their priority, and making sure of two things. ! Don't break anything else. and 2 fix the stuff that is already broken like Stormcleave. Leave the darn raid loot system alone!

Sorry for any disappointment but we'd rather release something good, a little later, than something bad, when its not ready.

A later release is fine with me. I haven't done all of Searing Heights and haven't even entered Arataxia or whatever its called. Too busy short-manning raids and will continue to be until they change the loot system.

Didn't they said that monks were supposed to be out this fall. But they haven't mentioned anything else about them yet. My question is when are monks supposed out?

    Exactly.

That and it gives me a little more time to get DQ solo and 2-man raiding out of my system before they screw up (my opinion) the raid loot system. I will not ever be soloing or short-manning a raid again...why bother? And especially one I have to re-flag for like DQ and Velah....what a pain.

Can think of far better uses of my gaming time.

Indeed like playing other games than DDO.

I have been looking forward to new high level content since? I can't remember, but I am dreading this new update for all the nerfs that come with it. Eespecially the nerf to existing content like the "New and Improved Raid loot system".

I think I have played all of about 2 hours in the past 3-4 weeks now. When the new content comes out, I like may other players may be saying farewell.

The devs don't listen to us anymore, and 60% or more of the people who play this game do not like the new raid loot system or the frequent nerfs to existing content.

I used to say I loved this game, but that was when the devs listend to us.

If I leave it won't matter much to most of you, but those few folkes I play with will probably miss me a little. I don't want to quit, but I am not sure how else we get the devs to listen to us.

No you cannot have my gear. I earned it and it will die with my characters if I go.

Now how about new high level content without nerfing the system?

Devs you can change anything you want in new quests, but when you change our beloved characters, their spells, their feats, their skill ability, and their overall ability to kick NPC butt, or existing quests, we get upset.

It is that simple... Listen to your customers and many people would stick around.
