Sorry to drag this up again, but I have the same problem as some others who've posted in that apparently my sig is more than 4 lines? Can someone verify this, because I shortened it a few weeks ago to this one which looks 4 lines on my screen. Thanks.

Ok... I'm encountering the same problem as all of you again...

Anyone know why this doesn't work?

It's the quote in your sig...you have to get rid of that, too.

Ok, Marrra's I can understand. Multiple color [code] forces the overall characters per line count over onto a 5th line.

But, Kadish. Yours is all one color (doable with 1 color [code]) with only minor code for left/center/right justification and relatively few characters per line. I'm thoroughly confuzzed.
Edit: D'oh! Missed the quote. Jundak is correct. The quote puts you over 4 lines.

Oh, so it's not that the text itself has to be within the characters-per-line limit, but it includes the code as well? That's harsh. But thanks for the reply

EDIT: Ok, so that's not quite right. I removed all the formatting and code and tested that and it still says I have more than 4 lines. I'm lost...

yeah .. kinda negates the whole '1000 characters or 2000 with BBCode ' thing, doesn't it?

Ok, now that's downright weird. Lemme try mine.

EDIT: Same thing here. Did they accidentally set the max to 3 lines?

Ok, after some fiddling around I have discovered that it thought my 2nd line was too long, so I got around that by moving my guild up next to my server. It doesn't look as neat now, which bugs me a little, but it's editable.

Hmmm. So the quote at the top is counted as two lines? Or is the list of my characters 2 lines? Or is there just something about having quotes in a sig? (j/k regarding the last one there).

EDIT: Here's the code I used for it (carrots rather than brackets to invalidate the code):
    Code:
<color=#5fc186><font=centaur>"Perhaps the end has not yet been written…”
<center>The Hand of the Black Tower
Allanon, Aundairian Ranger :: Keres, Aundairian Vindicator :: Naturalis Physicus, Aundairian Wizard</center>
    <right>~and Others.</right></font></color>

After further testing, shortening the third line (with my three main characters) to only containing the first two characters allows me to successfully enter my sig. Reducing the quote to even 1 character does not help.

So... it seems that line #3 is counted as two lines...?

    Thumbs down

There's really an easy work around for this.

Just type it in on here however you want it, complete with the code insertions.

Copy/Cut & Paste into Microsoft Word. Save.

When you type a response, copy it into the body of your text.

    Presto, instant signature block.

Then you can reserve your "4-lines" for smart comments like:

Never underestimate the power of a DM with too much time on his hands.

    Or...

There is always a way. The easy way is always mined.

Of course, if we do that, next thing you know they'll be limiting posts.

By the way, my signature block in real live takes 8 lines to type using proper spacing. Limiting to four seems a bit asanine. Yet another way to remove any former community by squeezing the space so you can't fit quotes or server references.

However, a great point was made, a little communication never hurts. Yeah, you gave us a head's up (that notion finally sunk in). But how about a reason other than, in your opinion "signature blocks have gotten out of hand". Yes, I'm late with this but like I said, I've been out of the country. Because if that were truly the case, more threads would be going *poof* for excessive ranting causing them to become too long.

Oh, and one other add-on. Code should not be counted in the length of your signature since it doesn't actually appear in the signature when printed out. It just makes things look nicer.

Was this ever implemented? I see ton's of signatures that are still way out of control. One signature has a guild name, guild website, then 21 Character names all listed on a separate line. That 1 signature takes up the entire page on my laptop.

So, Friday afternoon we'll be changing the requirements of signatures to be more consistent with the rest of our game forums.

The new settings will allow a maximum of 4 lines and up to 1000 non-BBcode characters. (Up to 2000 if you do use BBCode)

In the meantime, we suggest revising your signature to avoid it being truncated when we implement the new settings.

    Thanks!

It was implemented for new/edited sigs, but they haven't forced anyone to change their existing sigs. Baby steps, I suppose.

    Default Alright.

    I give.
I was holding out on my sig, I didn't want to give in, I think people should have the option to have a longer sig.
But, knowing that if I were to change it, I would lose it I didn't want to surrender the principal. Now I want to change it.

    Can anyone help?
I know I want just the three columns with the guilds I participate in and the names of my toons.

    I tried to get a clue here...http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=45.
But, I can't get the Shamrocks to stay on the same line.

I want it to look tidy and efficient, to those who have not already squelched me.
I am active in two guilds on Argo, not including my own Shamrocks, with one other friend. Ascent and ELITE.
I now play on Thelanis as well, though I am not sure if I am in an real Guilds there.
My exposure through the past couple weeks has been very slight, and for 2-3 months before that all I cared about was cakes and cookies, and coins. I did nothing but stalk the auctions on both the houses, I now have a sweet little kitty to work with on my newbie server, Thelanis.

Point is I am not good at programming since BASICA, help me someone. Please.
Though the Google search did pull up that cool table of the colors. My two colors I'd like to keep.
