Default Time for you techno geeks to shine

Hey folks have been playing for a while now and I want to upgrade one of the 2 systems I have for playing DDO. (wife and I both play) I know almost nothing about computers.

So here are my questions, I am sure the community has a lot of folks who know about computers. What would be the best system for me with the following contraints?

    Want windows XP

Want to be able to play on 1600x 1050 resolution without and jittering or choppy play.

Want to be able to play on the highest graphic settings I can above medium.

And have about $1200-1500 to play with.

Thank you in advance for your time

    Default Short Answer - DELL

Included all the right stuff for good replies.

Couple things to look for ,

    1. Absolutley NO INTEGRATED/ONBOARD video cards. get a pc with a real video card. 256mb memory prefered- PCI express
    2. try to expand memory with purchase to 2 gigs.
    3. DELL XPS line is high end rec, but an Inspiron may fit the bill and price better.
    4. Intel Core2 duo ( 6600 is one of the best buys out ther right now)

Im recommending DELL becasue you state you are not a techy and so building your own wouldnt be a viable option and DELLs tech support is one of the better out ther.
You will be challenged getting a machine with XP in stead of Vista. Dell now offers an option but will cost a 139 extra(us). Worth it or try to bargain with them. They do it all the time. Get a rep on the line and say Ill buy now if they throw in XP.

    Default Thanks winded

Very fortunately for me a good friend has offered to help me out

I looks like I can get a system that does all the things I want it to do for less than I expected to spend.
