Raiders beware Velah is taking action!
NEW- Velah has informed the guardians of the islands within the Plane of Night that if they leave the areas they are supposed to be protecting, she will eat them.
Plan accordingly people!

I dunno........I find it kinda odd that they are making these raids harder, but the loot isnt really improving, and how can it really when the raid doesnt compare to doing PoP on elite? Cmon honestly, a Red Dragon has worse loot than even the lowly of quests in GH? I cant even imagine why you would WANT to turn to exploits to do the quests.
Does anybody even run the dragon anymore... The loot isn't worth the effort.

It barely matters anyway since the raid loot changes, imo, make almost all the raids (except maybe reaver) not worth the effort anyway. As far as I'm concerned they can quintuple her hit points and let her summon 10 fire elementals every second. I won't be going there anymore.

sword of shadows and the +6 wisdom helm make the dragon worth running IMO, also a popx trinket in there i believe and +2 tomes.

also +6 str belt and the boots....... and honestly I think is the best epic type quest, a good grp can do the whole thing in 40 min (von 5 &6) and seeing that dragon always makes me smile.....I like the story I like the quest

..Don't forget the silver concord ring and cloak - my cleric has both
..and the hammer of life because nobody wanted it
I may have to take my enchantress in there and see if I can hypno them all on the bases

...and the only raid loot that every ranger wants (at that level anyway) the KDS.

The belt is nice to save you a spot, but if you're going to run a raid for a +6 str belt, the titan belt blows the dragon one out of the water.

Actually short of maybe the demon queen Velah has the best raid loot. Sword of Shadows, a POP X, KDS, boots, Even that cloak is decent.
Yay, make the lvl10 dragon raid harder because the lvl14 players breeze thru it. Oh man, what a mis-step.
In my laundry list of what's stinky in DDO, frequent changes ranks way, way up there.
People actually pulled the agrro off of Pillars? Well this is a WELCOME change imo. Pick up your skirts ladies and actually work for something...peace

Killed Vaelah last night. No change except the bases, no big deal though.
It appears to me the Devs are simply trying to make VoN6 as was intended, which was to fight or face the base mobs, whereas the common solution was simply to just get them out of the way.
I dont really care if they change it for that reason, however some aspects of the change seem a little off balance.
It seems like some of the reasons for the change is that level 14 characters are running in and completing it with little problem. This isnt really fair as it was a raid intended for level 10 characters. If they are going to try to up the difficulty of the raid to account for characters capping at 14 now that really isnt fair to the whole game or the purpose of the raid itself.
It was designed as the raid for level 10 characters. If they change it to be more in line with the raids for the level 14 crowd, then people will be losing the level 10 raid they had, yet will still only be gaining benefits from a level 10 raid.
However, I still think the changes are meant to reflect the idea that Turbine feels the current method of VoN6 is just exploiting the mob AI, and not really doing it as intended. That in itself is a little sad if they are going to start determining that everyone must do a quest the way they want it done rather than people finding their own methods of completion (kind of takes away from the whole spirit if D&D to me).
No matter how you do things, the players will always eventually outsmart the DM. It just seems that Turbine takes offense to this instead of accepting that it is the nature of the beast and always has been. D&D is a creative collective, and the players of such tend to take offense as well if you try to box them in...it wasnt meant for that and shouldnt come to that.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Will many succeed with only one person per pillar, and endless respawns of ice flensers, air elementals, and earth elementals?
I would think Turbine will have to either stop the respawns, or make it so more than 2 people could be out there without being fireballed by Velah. Even the fireballs wouldn't be an issue if they didn't destroy the walkway.
