    Default Installation Error

Since the recent server merger I have been experiencing stability issues with the DDO client. I have had numerous crashes, sometimes during clutch times which made for a very unpleasant gaming experience. In an effort to rectify the situation I decided to reinstall the client. I now get an error during the installation which prevents me from completing the setup. The error that comes up mentions something about the source file being copied is corrupted. I am installing from the retail dvd. What does this mean and how can I fix this? My setup is as follows:

    P4 2.6 Ghz
    2 Gbs PC 3200 ddr
    Nvidia Geforce 6800GT
    Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2
Windows XP Professional Service pack 2

    1. Make sure the disc is clean and scratch free. Wipe from the center outwards to the edge with a soft lint-free cloth, preferrably one made for cds or eyeglasses. Do not use any type of paper towel.
    2. Blow out your DVD drive with canned air. Don't stick the tube into the drive.
    3. If that doesn't work, try copying the contents of the DVD drive to your hard drive and run it from there.
4.If all else fails, you can download the trial client. It has everything but the high res textures, which are only used at the Very High texture level.

I took the advice you gave me and cleaned as well as I could both the dvd and the optical drive but am still getting the same error. Do you think I may have some bad memory on my hands? I haven't tried defragmenting the hard drive. Do you think it's worth giving a shot?

You can also try copying the files from the disks to your harddrive in a folder then try installing from there to see if that works if you have the room.

I am having the same problem. I bought a new computer and have not ever played DDO on it, decided to resub and loaded the game from my original DVD disc.

Everything was going fine during the update, but then I had a power surge and my computer shut off. I restarted the download and then I get this message:
"Cannot find core data file, installation may be corrupted." during the examine game data check.

Is there some file that I can delete to fix this? I was 1.2K files downloaded into the update out of 9.9K, so I don't want to have to start again.

    Cheers,

    Tata

I have the same problem, been playing on my desktop since launch without any problem, recent due to harddrive failure I formatted the disk and installed Windows Vista on it (DDO is on the other physical disk , so I just reinstall on top of it) and after the long updates I can get into the game play and do whatever without any problem, I quit the game and relaunch the game it will said the "core data file corrupted " and if i go repair it and update all over again it will work as long as i run it without restart the launcher client, but once I am out of it and relaunch the application it does the same thing again, is there anything i can do about it as i cannot repair the game everytime before i can play it and knowing the game data is fine.

Updates on the fix, I end up uninstall the game, make sure nothing left is on the computer, and then reinstall it, and set the DDO folder to allow full access for my account (Windows Vista) and it seems doesnt give me any problem so far

I use this link for the help, hope it fixes yours also
