DDO is not D&D (at least not same rule set).

Spells do require Stat = {10+(Spell Level)}, yes. But in DDO, any way you can get to that value works. Guildship Buffs will add +2, so you'll be at 10. Then, either Owl's Wisdom spells/potions add +4 (for 5 minutes), or gear adds "permanently" (while equipped) (not that these don't stack with each other, as they are the same type of boost). Then there are Tomes (but that's usually later), and some other possible bumps.

Bottom line, easy to get the job done despite starting at stat = 8.

Also, Rangers don't get CLW until Ranger Level 8 (Character Level 10 w that Trapmonkey build), so you have some time to find a good Wisdom item.

If that seems like a hassle, drop 1 pt of Strength (from 16 to 15) and add those 2 build points to Wisdom. That will get you thru Character Level 12, as you won't need Wis 13 until CL 13.

Otoh, you can dump trapping, take minimum Int, and use those points (but trapping is pretty handy).

(Also, don't miss the Elf and Dwarf version here - no "best" of the 3 versions, so just go with what looks fun to you. (Drow version requires a premium Enhancement tree, not that one.))

"They" tend to be leet players who are trying to squeeze the last 1% out of DPS optimization. Both work fine. Khopeshes and scimi's (and Dwaxes) may be easier to find than good maces. <shrug> That's where it's easy to swap a couple feats (Improved Critical:Bludgeon vs. IC:Slash) and make it the build you prefer.

(I like the Elven Dex/Displacement build best, but for a 1st-life you might find one of the Strength builds easier, since Encumbrance can be a problem for a new player. ymmv.)
I didn't exactly expect them to miss that point, since, well, I don't see complaints so I wrote that thinking an answer more of a "why no Wis? Well here's why" (you, thanks by the way!) more than "no Wis? Oversight! The noob is right!"

I think given that I can get Wis anywhere with items, guild buffs and pots, I'll try to find a guild and go tempest trapper

Thanks a lot lads, I'll keep you updated on bad maces and good khopeshes I find in my journey

Default Update 57 Melee Mage Build

    Hi,

I'm looking for some guidance on a current (U57) build to follow for a 1st life Wiz toon, who's been sitting at cap for far too long, and who desperately needs to be reincarnated. I've played her previously as a pure 20 wiz palemaster caster and am looking to try something a bit different, with some in-your-face eldritch knight melee action wizardy

I've looked at Strimtom's Death Knight build : https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...r-free-to-play! but since changes in update57, one of the main underpinning mechanics of this build (death aura and crits) no longer seems to be a thing.

I also noted the following melee wiz build recently mentioned in this thread : https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...754&viewfull=1 which I am sure is great - however, 1. it looks a bit too complicated for me to get my head around and 2. it seems possibly to be a bit out of date, requiring some guesswork on my behalf re what might be sensible in the current game, with a high probability of me messing things up...

Could someone please provide an Eldritch Knight / melee wiz build, that reflects the current state of the game, for a 2nd life char, with +8 tome, access to Feydark, Harper and Inquis trees, (but with currently middling gear), that's viable (with a bit of gear farming) to play in reaper 3/4 back up to 30. I'd rather not play warforged (nothing rational here, I just don't like them), but am open to other suggestions.

    Thanks very much!

U can find the build from Morfeo in /classes/wizard. I suggest this
    https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...Barbarian-Rage!
    In game in Cannith as
Aborim Master (main toon) --- Nickallin (my tank)--- Jjnick (warlock 30) --- Nickpunick ()--- Nickruvido (my healer)--- Nickallinone (shuri build)
guild: not Flagged ( ex guardiani di eberron, ex gods, ex kvp)

Default Cross Bow Rogue build with highest dps (dual wield?)

I'm looking for a good Rogue Cross Bow main build bit don't have artificer or inspired tree. What are the best options for 18rogue/2 any class for high dps? My rogue is reincarnated once and is currently lvl9

I have a couple builds listed in sig and could use some advice on my bard too. Thanks build masters. Look forward to your expertise

If you don't have the P2P options, you can always fall back on great crossbow rogue. Sample builds: pure drow and Dragonmarked halfling. They need updating but...well, not a lot of demand for F2P Mechanics these days.

DPS will be below what Arti's, multi-class Repeaters or Inquisitors can do today, but still more than enough to get you thru.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on this, really appreciate the ideas. Will take a look at tweaking the toaster below and see how that works out

Default Cleric melee 2HF - Human Falchions with Pally splash vs. the Pure Cleric PDK Mauls

    Migration from another thread.

Gimp gear atm. Want to survive in Reaper

FYI there are some cleric 15 / paladin 5 builds out there. Most that I've seen go for tier-5 Sacred Defender for extra tankiness like this build; but nothing stops you from taking tier-5 KotC instead for Ascendancy, Holy Retribution etc.

Also for the pure cleric, with the HP changes you might want to try a different AP split such as:
    • 41 Falconry for Master Falconer capstone, +25% Competence bonus to Hit Points, and Death from Above etc.
    • 31 Radiant Servant for Positive Energy Shield
    • 8 Vistani Knife Fighter for Haste Boost

Basically give up some healing powah for more HPs and a few more bird attacks.

Been thinking hard about this for the Human especially with Fey now. I bought it. The Pal4 and Saving Throws from CHR seem to help. SD helps at T4. KOTC seems like too much so I took some out. Might dump it because of Fury and Strikethrough. I can probably squeeze in some Fey and might LR and dump STR for CHR and higher Saving Throws. How important are Saving Throws in Reaper and how much is too much?

Seems to help a lot for survival. Problem with the FTR level on the Human CLR15/PAL4/FTR1 is I took the FTR at lvl1 and 1 feat is wasted now. I have a LR and a LR+5 and may use that to go PAL3 or PAL5 on the Human. Lvl1 Ftr was for Cleaves years ago, but that is a waste now with Cleaves in trees and linked to Cleave cooldowns. And they got rid of the Pre Req of the feats.

The Human is Strikethrough with a Falchion build. I am thinking the Exalted Smite is too many melee clickies for a Cleric 2HF. I like the Adrenaline with the BM for Bosses, but the Fury T5 Leveler and Smites seem like too many interruptions in Strikethrough. Most bosses have mobs after all.

With so much SLA healing now I like the Pally splash. The PDK CLR20 seems to never run out of SP, but I have not done Reaper 5 or higher. I probably can't on either of them. Maybe I should just farm gear and leave the builds alone? That wasted feat on the Human bugs me though. I took Shield extra feat at FTR1, but never use it and might switch it to Dodge. I like 2HF play style and just want to live in Reaper. Lol

Looking for 2HF Human Clr17/Pal3 or Clr15/Pal5. Maybe with splash of Fey. I guess Human CLR20 is an option too. Thinking end game. Epic just does not seem that tough anymore for just about any build with all the changes.

Default Arcane Archer is gone, now what

Arcane archer is gone and it had damage power and enhancements that really helped in battle, and Dark hunter has a few good items but nothing I would call a better replacement. The bow builds have to be all redone. Any ideas or suggestions from the gallery?

AA is not gone, good old Ranger is still here. Therefore, I'm assuming you mean builds for Dark Hunter PLs.

Horizon Walker has Conjure Arrows, everything else from AA is superficial. If you don't have HW, use Half-Elf Dilletante: Ranger.

    Default Vile Chemist Inquisitive?

Imbue changes let you get upwards of 12 imbue dice easily as a Vile Chemist Inquisitive which seems quite strong to me
Has anyone tried it and got a build to show?
probably looking for something like 18 Alchemist 2 rogue/artificer/fighter or something like that

Just thinking out loud - drow Alchemist 18 / rogue 2 with at least 92 APs can do:
    • 41 Inquisitive (+7 Imbue dice & capstone)
    • 21 Vile Chemist (+6 dice)
    • 16 racial (+2 dice)
    • 8 Assassin (+3 dice)
    • 6 Harper (Know the Angles) - Battalion Brew feat for INT to hit & damage

Fewer APs? Need to drop from either racial or Vile Chemist.

+6 Imbue dice from epic feats, theoretically up to +7 dice from three Epic Destinies, although I would probably use Shiradi+Shadowdancer (extra sneak attacks, Improved Evasion) for this build; so in practical terms, +3 dice from Draconic or +1 dice from Dreadnought. I guess whichever gets you to a multiple of 7 dice for Shiradi procs.

    Question Clean-slate 32 point F2P build?

Hi! Just coming back to the game after many, many years. I'm starting completely fresh on a new server solo for now.

I've pretty much forgotten everything about DDO and I'm just looking for a straightforward build that'll have a good amount of solo potential while I get my footing again.
I believe barbarian or paladin would be my best bet?

I was looking at the "FREE TO PLAY Dwarf Ravager Barbarian" from Strimtom over at https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...uilds-Season-4 for one of my options

The only issue I came across is that I've got 32 points to use and wasn't really sure where to allocate my remaining 4.

Would anyone be able to help me out with a clean-slate 32 point F2P build? I'm really open to all classes, melee or ranged, and any builds if they can reliably solo!
Really excited to return to the game and thank you in advance if anyone is able to help me out!

Depends entirely on what your preferred playstyle is.

Barbs are toe-to-toe melee, brute damage, go Go GO!

Paladins are a little more tactical, and trade off a lot of their DPS for more survivability; that is, they kill stuff slower (and so quest more slowly) but don't die as suddenly.

If one of those work for you, then yes. But if you preferred ranged, or a caster/blaster, or something else, then obviously something else would be "your best bet".

Throw them into Wisdom for a better Will Saving Throw. (Normally you could put them instead into Int for more Skill Points, but this Barb looks like they already have more than enough skills.)

You're using a solid build that is "forum approved" (no glaring problems or criticisms), so you should be good to go!

I'm playing a THF cha paladin and could use some direction with Epic Destinies as it's a pretty new mechanic to me. Divine Crusader, Dreadnought and Fury of the Wild all seem like solid contenders but I don't know if I'm missing an 'obvious' choice.

I don't believe there currently is a clear and agreed-upon "META" for tanks, as some great tanks come from very unexpected sources (Warlocks, other casters, etc).

That very topic has been discussed recently (which I can't find, of course), but here are some related comments/examples:

    o https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post6574530
    o https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post5704456
    o https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post6420499
o https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post5124460 (and Tilo' had a recent Sorcerer tank but deleted it )

Then there are a spectrum of more predictable Paladin, Fighter, etc tanks.

Hello! Brand new player here. I am a casual player due to playing another game with hubby, a home based business and our 2 grandsons live with us so my playtime can be unpredictable or prone to unexpected afks so I am looking for primarily a solo build. I have dabbled in the game once before but it was many years ago and I now have no idea what I am doing lol.

    What I would like:

    Caster (preferred) or range dps
Ability to find secret doors and traps
    Some type of self healing
    Newbie friendly
Solos efficiently but can work with a group as well
Does not need to be F2P. I don't mind buying what I need and/or subscribing.
Not opposed to multiclass just not sure how it works. This would obviously be a first life.

In other games I almost always end up playing healers or support with nature base classes being a favorite but this time around since hubby is not playing with me I think a dps class is needed.

    Thank you for your help!
