My problem is that I mostly play solo as I am not terribly social in MMOs (defeats the purpose, right?). To make matters worse, I like to experience all the content that any given game has to offer. As such, I find trapping skills - at least search, spot, and open lock - to be essential. Disable device is a plus, but if the build is durable enough to make that unnecessary that's fine too.
I would say that artificer, when you unlock it via favor or points, will compliment your build nicely. A few levels mixed in with your fighter levels will give you decent trap skills and a lot of the defensive an HP bonuses from Renegade Mastermaker. If you decide to try dropping the shield and going a little harder on RM, you can still get most of the defensive bonuses from Stalwart Defender to supplement your armor.

Assume I have no stat or skill tomes, but this is going to be a completionist character in the long term, so I plan to acquire every stat and skill tome out there. Again, this build is for racial TRs, so it can't rely on racial enhancement trees. I do not have access to Favored Soul (yet), Artificer, or Alchemist, but if Artificer would be better than Rogue, I will prioritize it as my next points purchase. I would like the build to be able to solo (with a hireling) most if not all of the content in the game on Elite at least, low reaper would be better, but I understand if it's not optimal enough for that.

    Thank you in advance!

EDIT: I should have mentioned that I will be going to 30 for ETR -> RTR, so epic advice would be appreciated as well.
This is a quick pass at a first life, no tomes, no RAP spent. I left off the last 4 EAP, since you're going to ETR->RTR at 30 anyway. If you were going to sit at 30 and farm before ETRing, you'd spend them in Civine Crusader T5. I put points on disable device instead of open lock, but that's an easy change if you prefer. This build benefits most from a +INT tome, followed by STR and then DEX

There is still some room for optimization, and gear will play a big part in what you end up with. If you have a character you're going to TR into this, I would run it up to 150 Cannith Favor (Artificer Unlock) and 1750 (at least) total favor for a +2 INT tome.

Alternatively, if you have a character on your account created pre-MotU, you should have a +20 heart and a birthday battle box that will let you LR into whatever you want with at least 1 +2 tome. You might have to run some Cannith Challenges and the quests to earn enough favor to unlock Arti, but those things will be doable.

Default Build request: Wizard life help

Good morning, friends. I guess we all have playstyles that we prefer and others that we don't. For me, I almost always solo so I prefer to play survivable classes that are good trash clearers - such as paladins and warlocks. I don't prefer to play classes in which I need to press ten keys at once, farm out the 6-piece nuclear set in the God Crushes Your Soul raid, or wait for bosses to die of old age. Then, for me, there's the wizard. Far below the half-or paladin trapper build... for me. I need your help. I have endured two past lives already (1-20 and out!), and I'm halfway through my third. Have 36-point build, all +8 tomes, all races/classes unlocked. (This particular life is a human because Blue Moon...) I have a few hours to play this weekend so I went to log on about an hour ago now and I just couldn't bring myself to play - it's that bad. I mean, I even started thinking about doing crazy stuff instead of playing... Maybe improving myself with some exercise... Calling my kids to see if they're ok... Cleaning up around here... You see the desperation that is setting in! So, I was about 10 minutes into a conversation with my son (go figure, he's away at college! I wondered why he hadn't come out of his room for so long... and that explains those crazy bills that I've been getting...) when I thought, "Hey, maybe I could ask some pros on the forum for a build! They seem like helpful, non-judgmental folks!" I also though that maybe I shouldn't have so many Blue Moons in the morning too, so that wasn't my only lapse in judgment. Anyway, so I hung up on the boy (the staff at the emergency room seemed to have his bleeding under control) and am writing this appeal.

I've got ten levels to go... I can heart out all the bad decisions from the first ten levels if needed and multi-classing is no problem since I don't need the last core on EK or PM (once I get 20, I'm done). Is there some kind of EK/barb build that I could play like a THF pally? Or a straight wizard build that I could play like a slow, SP-starved sorcerer? The more detailed, the better since I don't know the trees well enough to make sense of "Just put 51 in EK, 12 in PM, and 500 in the human tree for the "Invulnerable to Everything" enhancement. Please... help a brother out. I promise not to play wizard ever again so don't worry about cheating me out of an education on the class. (I've endured two 1-20 runs already so I do have some sweat equity.)

Thank you in advance! Gotta go for now - my pesky kid keeps calling about that medical stuff. *sheesh* It's Saturday for God's sake!

Hello. I would like to do a primarily bard life. He will be playing all the time in a party of 6 so I would like a build that sacrifices solo-friendliness for the traditional D&D bard role of being the ultimate support character and making his teammates better. Suggestions?
    thanks

Pure Spellsinger. If it's a static party, you could go human for chest blessing. Otherwise a +CHA race like drow or Tiefling.

Default Can you make this into an effective build ?

    Half elf
    Druid 14
    Ranger 6
    Melee (or Ranged melee combo)

Can you make this into an effective build?

    Sorry - "effective" for what?

Planning to go to 30? Just get enough Tokens for an immediate TR? Or park at 20 (ish) and farm gear/favor? You solo a lot? Chasing high Reaper? What is the goal with this build? - that's an important part of the question.

On or the other (so Melee). You'll get "some" ranged by simply having 6 Ranger levels, and you proly don't want to waste feats by chasing any more. (If they're close enough to use PBS, they're close enough to melee. )

Is it safe to read that you're rebuilding an old alt, so will be starting at 20? (The only alternative is that this is some kind of challenge build?... )

If rebuilding, and you're trying to build on the 2-weapon style of Ranger (which is the obvious route here), some of the planning depends on the original order. However, you then don't need to optimize the order "as you level up", so, if you are (re-)starting at 20, as long as you get the feats, you can take them "whenever".

If that's the case, what is the (now locked) order* for Druid 14/Ranger 6?

    (* If you aren't sure, see: https://ddowiki.com/page/Fred#Tips, 2nd tip)

If it wasn't melee, I'd suggest Artificer dile' and go Inquisitive. As melee... pro'ly Rogue, for the +SA. (Some others are tempting, but you aren't going to be starting w/ a 13 Cha, etc.)

(It's an old build now - not sure if it still works as advertised, or if there is need/room for improvement, nor what that would be, but you could aim for something close to this:

o https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post5759112 (Drop the single-weapon line (from Fighter levels), & read the thread for recommendations/alternative choices)

It’s a challenge build based off of a 2nd edition Ranger/Great Druid multi class it only needs to be fun (not gimp) and the most effective it can possibly be.

(The cited build was unfortunately rendered obsolete by the “wolf ranger nerf.”)

Horizon Walker and Vistani Knife Fighter open up a lot of options for archer or melee builds; but you still need some sort of core conceit IMO beyond "it worked in PnP!" Especially since multiclassing is very different in DDO than it was in 2e.

Build ideas off the top of my head for ranger / druid:
    • dual-dagger wielder (druid 13 / rgr 6 / FvS 1): 41 Vistani / 38 Tempest / 2 War Soul (Divine Will). Water elemental form + Freezing Spray + a couple of Freezing daggers.
    • Elemental archer: 41 Horizon Walker / 23 DWS (Killer) / 14 AA - as above but with a bow and 5d8 Frost imbues.
    • wolf (druid 13 / rgr 6 / FvS 1): 35 Nature's Warrior / 23 Nature's Protector (Beast Awakened) / 11 DWS (Exposing Strike) / 4 War Soul.

Those are all good ideas unbongwah i like the idea of daggers need a dagger ranger was thinking myself a bow ranger wolf melee but your ideas are better. Afraid it’s no more complicated than fond memories of pnp. I am also contemplating a 5 fighter/7 mage/8 rogue, a 7 fighter 13 rogue and 7 fighter 13 magic user and a 10 magic user/10 rogue (may never happen). Of course one of the challenges is trying to fit the puzzle together.

    Default Puzzle solved.

A flame blade fire elemental seems to be the best fit for the Great Druid Ranger.

    Melee (or Ranged melee combo)

Can you make this into an effective build?
Yes, see PO in arti forums, replace arti and rogue with druid. Ranged melee combo effective character achieved. Use the TWF template for heroics, or the SWF for going into epics.

You will need to pick up repeater proficiency, and drop a few feats, probably the spring attack/sotr chain.

That is a great build but I don’t want any build that gives me chain envy, preferring sdk for both po and strimtom’s various chain builds. (Wolf but with chains)

Default Curious about 3 types of builds...

I'm actually interested in having a few builds i'd love to see, but am not quite sure how to go about due to not seeing much up to date info. If anyone could help, it'd be suuuuper.

    What interests me is:
A fighter multiclassed into rogue (and maybe a third class, like bard or monk) for some expanded abilities. Mostly interested in it being flexible (As in, easily reallocated) between DPS, dodge tanking, reflex saves, and sniping ability with crossbows (because not everyone has arti, or inquisitive)... Some sneaking and trapping skills appreciated, but fully optional.

A fighter(again), but this time multiclassed into wizard for a more buff-based build. Dunno if focusing on spell damage or melee damage would work better, so don't mind either an extreme lean or a half-and-half, but i would prefer to have at least some negative energy healing and shrouds, and of course a bit of eldritch knight. No real specifics preference for a fighter combat style in this case.

My last one is a bit silly, but i'd like... a rogue, but with heavy focus on shields (yes, shields), once again multiclassed into anything if needed for extra oomph, and grasping any defense bonuses possible from feats, skills, and enhancements. Not much else specific about it that i care about.

Might as well follow Strimtom's chain wolf guide then if you're willing to spend a heart.

Default 36 Point Build Completionist Feat

Question: Is it worth slotting your completionist feat on a 36 point build or is there a better more prudent use of a feat slot other than completionist?

. . . why else would you bother earning Completionist? That's 15 heroic TRs, might as well collect your trophy.
