Heya guys,

I've been looking to create a DEX-based halfling monk/rogue with a quarterstaff but have not been able find any builds on the forum. Preferably more monk than rogue, since I am not looking to trap, but to have fun meleeing. Can anyone point me towards any ideas or builds? It has been a while since I've played something else than healers in DDO, but would like to give this idea a try. Thanks for the replies!

Here's an interesting build I came up with: Halfling monk/rogue/druid With dragonmark healing and trapping capability, You may not have specifically asked for it but with so many rogue levels it seemed silly not to be able to do them.

For the level split I wanted 12monk (abundant step, free master of forms and main levels monk for build request)
5Rogue Tier 5 enhancements in Theif Acrobat, sneak attack etc.
2Druid, +30% doublestrike boost.

Build could play in either wind stance for attack speed or earth stance for PRR and +1crit mod on 19/20 depends on preferance I suppose.

This left me with 1 extra level, In the planner I put it in monk but you could put it in rogue for more skill points or 3rd level of druid for level 2 spells (not sure how that would help this build though except for the cure light wounds spell for extra healing).

Edit: As per unbongwah's suggestion I've swapped the 13th monk level for a 3rd level in druid and updated enhancements to match. Hmm, I kinda like the look of this build I may have to roll one up for myself.

Interesting build, but monk 13 gets you nothing. Druid 3 would let you add Instinctive Fighting (+10 Pos Spellpower, a natural fit for a DMed halfling), Fatal Harrier, and/or Reaving Roar.

Hey guys, here's an idea I'm kicking around and I haven't heard of anyone trying it before. Concept is a TWF pure pally with max CHA in draconic ED. CHA drives all of a paladin's abilities and is also used for the DC checks for draconic abilities. It's also used for the DC on shadow bolt and fairie fire, two drow racial abilities). On paper, draconic incarnation looks like a great mix of offensive and defensive abilities and as long as I can get my CHA high enough, I think I should be able to breathe fire/roar/energy burst/etc just like anyone else. I won't have the spellpower of a wizard or sorc but with the right item I hope I can get it high enough. Of course, you guys are writing the builds, so you do what you want, but here's kind of what I was thinking:

Race: Drow (get 2 CHA racial enhancements, racial PRE is supposed to be tempest which fits with the TWF style)
Past lives: Cleric x2 (32 point build for drow, more power for turn undead)
Pure pally - flexible on this, but thinking pure would be good to get maximum benefit from pally abilities.
Tomes: Ate a +4 supreme tome of ability. Don't know if you want to account for that or write a build that anyone can use.

I already have a character like this, he's in the 2nd cleric life right now, just wanted to see what you guys could come up with.

Couple more thoughts:

1. Cleric active past life feat is healing word. Should this build use it or is that overkill for a pally who should have good UMD and self sufficient?

2. As tempting as it may be to splash other classes and go with dex for attack or damage, divine might adds CHA bonus to STR instead of just straight up boosting damage. So using another stat for damage would probably not be ideal.

While i dont really know what past life feat paladins do (ddowiki does not bring the light for me), im not sure if i should put them in.

The passive PL feat provides +5% heal amp per pally life (max +15%); the chosen feat provides +2 Heal (which is now +2 Pos Spellpower) and Divine Favor clickie (3 uses per rest).

My expectations on my next toon are: most of the time being self sufficient, fairly high DPS, not too much a gear intensive toon.

Well, it depends on just how self sufficient you want to be, but a HE light monkcher w/cleric dilly should fare pretty well.

So there are any number of builds built around the Monk/Fighter/ranger concept of a centred Monk with bladed weapons (Broadswords are a thing with me, just work with me). The problem is many of them require either massive tomes, or are really only useful at much later levels.

I have access to a 34 pt character (TRing soon) and +2 tomes in about everything, but nothing bigger yet. Can I get a DSP/melee based build for a centred Monk (one with the Blade) kensai with Broadswords?
Key is, he need to be playable and enjoyable at all levels, not just a dull trudge until you get to epic (I get bored easily). range is a purely add-on if melee is maxed out. Can someone help me out?

But the advantage on monks is you can pick up Whirling Steel Strike rather than One w/Blade (which req's ftr 8), which gives you a lot more flexibility in MCing options. I'm still not a fan of WSS builds in general, but there are some interesting things you can do in U19; e.g. a monkcher variant who uses longswords instead of wraps, something like monk 12 / rgr 6 / <splash> 2. For maximum gimpitude, you could do DEX-based elf w/Grace+Aerenal (longbows & longswords).

Apart from getting a cool tattoo, there's not much point to adding DMs to an elf or halfling pure bard, since they get all those spells already (presuming the halfling goes for SS capstone which grants Heal spell). And your feats will be pretty tight on a pure bard, regardless of which role(s) you build for: i.e., DPS, healer, CCer, etc.

All builds conform to 32 points, no tomes (though tomes would help them, especially the halfling bard), and all base stats at least 10.

Only the halfling isn't pure.
All have dragonmarks, though the elven dragonmark isn't so great for an elf as it gives displacement that a bard can already slot as a spell.
