    Default New Sole Survivor?

Given the recent Fvs pass, i was wondering if an old favorite build of mine, Sole Survivor, could be almost reincarnated now? and how viable of a build it is through the levels.

We started discussing them in this thread. Warsoul got some welcome melee DPS buffs, particularly if you run with (e)SOS. The new Falconry tree opens some new synergies for WIS-based melee FvS builds too. Beacon of Hope is...honestly, I find it more than a little underwhelming, but if you want a healer-specced FvS, well, now you have a tree for it.

    5. Rejuvenation Cocoon (Tier 1 Primal)
Going heavy into Falconry tree doesn't leave a lot of APs left over for Deepwood Stalker. So the build philosophy here is to focus on burst DPS via FotW's Adrenaline and the various CC abilities: i.e., Paralyzing Arrows, Hunting Bird attacks, and the two Shiradi twists (Pin and Whistler). Perhaps you'll even get the DCs on Terror Arrows high enough for the instakill to proc reliably. The downside is I don't have the APs to spare for Killer + Advanced Sneak Attack, so overall ranged DPS takes a bit of a hit there; though hopefully No Mercy combined with all the helpless attacks at our disposal makes up for that (knock on wood).

The 12 racial APs are - shall we say - aspirational in nature. There's nothing you really need from the racial tree; Healing Hands, +2 WIS, and extra heal amp are definitely in the "nice to have but not essential" category, IMO.

It's unclear from the description whether Deadly Instinct applies to ranged attacks or Hunting Bird strikes; and I don't have Falconry yet to test it. If it turns out not to work, we can always drop it for another point of WIS or something.

    perfect, only 2 questions,

Enchantment vs Transmutation. It's not a biggie, doubt Id do it, but for snare & spike growth on Lamma I tested it maxed out and they both worked to a degree in epics. (reaper isnt in my vocab)

Secondly, alignment. Im so used to lawful good....... again it doesnt matter, just asking

I have literally never bothered using those spells because WIS-based ranger wasn't viable until now. Obviously I focused purely on Enchantment / Hunting Bird DCs; feel free to experiment with other DCs at your own risk.

True Neutral is my default largely to avoid neg-leveling from evil-tainted or Anarchic / Axiomatic gear as well as to avoid alignment-based damage like Unholy. [In the good old days, it was also for Stability items back when they were actually relevant.] Otherwise it doesn't really matter unless alignment restrictions are a concern.

    Exactly.

My comment about alignment is due to the massive amount of LG gear the TR toon has. Like most, proverbial packrat

    3. Legendary Shield Mastery (Tier 2 Sentinel)
    4. Hail of Blows (Tier 2 Flowers)
    Features:
    • Full Falconry tree on WIS-based Scourge Aasimar (requires LR +1)
    • Uses light maces which become 14-18/x4 19-20/x6 weapons in Dreadnought. [Skullsmasher is 14-18/x5 19-20/x7 but unfortunately can't be Sentiented; drow light mace is 12-18/x4 19-20/x6 and should be Sentient-compatible.]
    • Most bardsongs including Inspire Heroics + Excellence for party buffage. [Bard 12 / ftr 6 / rog 2 would have extra feats but lose Heroics+Excellence.]
    • Usual survivability perks from Stalwart Defender (i.e., +25 PRR/MRR and +20% HPs)
    • one instakill (Death from Above), two AoE stuns (Dire Charge + Coordinated Strike), and two single-target stuns (Diving Attack + Strike for the Eyes), all based on WIS

This build is an attempt to address one of the dilemmas of Falconry builds; namely if you want to use Death from Above, you're pretty much "locked" into taking the capstone as well, because without the cooldown reset chance, DfA can't be used often enough to really be useful. So the trick is to find builds which get the rest of their DPS from other sources than tier-5 and/or capstone abilities. Scourge Swashbuckler using light maces get 15-18/x4 19-20/x5 critical threat range from Swashbuckling stance + IC:Blunt feat + Destroyer of the Dead + Overwhelming Crit; other crit bonuses come from LD (i.e., Pulverizer + Devastating Crit).

Ironically, I don't have the feat nor APs to spare to invest into more shield-bashing, which was actually the original impetus to making this build. Oh well, just bang out more racial PLs, how hard can that be?

Responding to a PM here because the person's Inbox is full:

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...arper-Mechanic
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...-mechanic-xbow

Great xbow Mechanic builds basically all look the same, since once you have all the essential ranged feats, there's really not much room with what's left. Plus you definitely want tier-5 Mechanic + Expert Builder, which pretty much locks you into at least rogue 18. About the only practical splashes are (A) Artificer or fighter for extra feats (arty 2 also lets you equip a Runearm) or maybe (B) barbarian for the extra +10% runspeed (even if you're not a zerger, kiting is a useful life skill). If you have a +7 DEX tome you can start with base DEX 14 and still hit 21 for your epic feats (Combat Archery + Epic Sneak Attack).

There's nothing you really need from the racial tree; Healing Hands and extra heal amp are definitely in the "nice to have but not essential" category, IMO.

It's unclear from the description whether Deadly Instinct applies to ranged attacks or Hunting Bird strikes; and I don't have Falconry yet to test it. If it turns out not to work, we can always drop it for another point of WIS or something.
    Hello unbogwah,

A few questions on that build.

First off, why twist ottos whistler if you are going to get a good DC for paralyzing arrow ?

It is my understanding that ottos and paralyzing work on same mobs, and do not work on the same mobs.

Same question on falconry CC abilities you are taking. Why bother taking those falconry CCs with paralyzing arrow ? Once again, it is my understanding that paralyze and blind and trip work on the exact same mobs.

Also, why only 1 point in force arrows ? Don’t you use force as a backup to acid for acid immune mobs and for incorporeal mobs ?

And how high a DC do you need for the instakill to work on terror arrows ? Have any idea ?

And a last question for my curiosity, why take perform ?

    Thanks

Because extra CC is never a bad thing?

Correct, but Whistler has no save.
Why bother taking those falconry CCs with paralyzing arrow ?
Hunting Bird attacks cause helplessness; Paralyzing does not. Thus the bird boosts your DPS as well as CCing mobs. No Mercy and Sense Weakness stack for an extra +60% damage to helpless mobs in addition to the usual +50%. So use your bird, then follow up with Adrenaline + <Slaying Arrow | Sniper Shot>.
Also, why only 1 point in force arrows ? Don’t you use force as a backup to acid for acid immune mobs and for incorporeal mobs ?
It was either +2 WIS or two more ranks of Force Arrows; I chose the former.
And a last question for my curiosity, why take perform ?
Boosts Sonic spellpower to go with Feywild feat; it was either that or Search.

OK, how about an old school thf bladeforged FvS. What do you think? I have completionist, 1 racial point , some epic past lifes but not many and +7 tomes. I don't have the new tree but am willing to get it. Not sure if anymore info is needed. Thanks in advance.

I just posted a WF FvS 20 THF build using Falconry. Converting to BF is easy enough: you can either LR +1 into pure FvS or do FvS 18 / pal 2; the Warsoul capstone is still kinda weaksauce, IMO, so losing it is no big deal. You could do a deeper MC, but dropping FvS 18 means losing Haste and +1 crit range bonus from lvl 18 Warsoul core enhancement.

If you don't have Falconry, you can shift those APs into either AoV or Beacon of Hope. You also have the option of going for a conventional STR+CHA build using Divine Might if you're not building for caster / Falconry DCs.

It is time for me to TR after two swashbuckler lives. I was thinking about FVS Vistani, but I don't have Falconry.
+3 tomes except +5 to INT. I have all races except iconic gnome. I hope for good DPS, and tend to solo a lot.

    Default Bladeforged Arti

Looking for a bladeforged build that keeps at least 1 level of paladin with main class as arti, since I have all my paladin past lives, but need some arti lives. Don't want to use a lesser heart to get rid of paladin, so any builds out there that incorporate those criteria? Otherwise any pitfalls I should know about? Mainly wondering if there are any abilities that arti has that would be hurt from wearing heavy armor if I was to try doing a tanky type build.

The most obvious idea which occurs to me: take slarden's Reaper build and convert it to BF arty 12 / ftr 6 / pal 2. Rather than Evasion, you build around Adamantine Body + Stalwart Defender + RMM. Could go melee or ranged; melee version can go either SWF+Runearm or THF depending on which tier-5 you're aiming for (BE or Kensei).

If anything it's the opposite; Renegade Mastermaker is biased in favor of medium / heavy armor and Adamantine Body.

Since my last request did not inspire anyone and I am in hurry to TR, lets try something else:
I did not find any detailed gnome build either here or on the discord.
How about gnome artificer? 36 points, +5 Int tome, +3 others, not much past lives, mainly solo.

Default I'm itchin' to run PaleMaster again

    Hello,

I have not run a Pale Master in a while. I have triple completionist on Heroic and Iconic. I am currently running Racial + Epic TR's, lvl 1-30, eTr, rTR...lather, rinse, repeat.

Most PM guides I've found are current up to U28 or so. I've used those guides and was happy with them, but I'd like to see what else I might do.

3x all Heroic class Past Lives
    3x all Iconic Past Lives
    2x Elf Racial Past lives
    2x Primal Epic Past Lives
    +7 Stat tome
+3 or better on Skill tomes
All sorts of named gear with set bonuses from lvl 8+

I'm not hanging out at lvl 30 when I cap. Just doing immediate eTR+rTR.

Playing style: I love walking into a room and freezing the whole mob with Hold Monster and/or Otto's. Rest of party can bang away at them and I can Finger of Death or Wail. I can do melee in lower levels, but above level 7 I prefer to be castin'.

    Thanks!
