Default Vistani Skald (TWF bard 20)

Quick attempt at a TWF bard using Vistani Knife Fighter who wears medium armor. Loosely based on the PnP bard prestige class Skald. Pure bard because I felt like it.

If you have any extra racial APs, you can put more into Harper for extra MP or KtA.
I still like going for third core solo for Quick Draw since I swap gear a lot and live one ABs, so I think 9 MP/PRR, Quick Draw, and 3rd Elemental Ki Strike as long as there's nothing better to take. I don't think anything else there is worth it as a Shintao monk over 11 AP after 20, but your right if you don't want or need the feat there's no use in it.

    Edit:

I also have 10 racial AP, so I usually have most stuff in racial trees covered anyways

I did a medium armored Vol FvS/lock/barb (17/2/1) Wisdom to Damage. This looks good too. May try it on my next racial life. Been trying to find a bard build to mess with that was Vistani and used DCs, any suggestions on fitting in Charisma to Damage and not having to go PDK and that small weapon set that doesn't include daggars? I know it's impossible unless you go at least 12 into SB and SWF.

I've been doing a druid life recently. My plan is to go pure for simplicity's sake, but I got to wondering about the best way to max out Bear DC's.

Bear-ing in mind that I subscribe to the CC-tank school of thought, what's the best setup for endgame DCs? And as a follow-up, what kind of AC could a bear tank feasibly reach, with that sweet, sweet +25% AC from T5 NP and Dire Bear? Finally, given Str for tactics / Con for HP / (potentially Int for KTA) / Wis for Tremor and other druid tactics / (potentially Cha for Divine Might), is any one setup less MAD than another?

Any race, past lives, etc that you want to add while designing this, as I'm more curious in the numbers breakdown than anything else. I would assume 18 druid for the bear perma-rage

Done a Tremors/Chrism build yet? I'm guessing Dwarf for Throw Weight which means pumping everything into Con. I saw a TON of DPS builds, but all have Monk splash. Since Chrism breaks centering, no longer an option. I've got Strahds Plate so all I've got left to get is Chrism.

The wiki entry says it breaks Druidic Oath.

The Con-stacking TYWA sounds promising. I'd forgotten about the changes to FvS's Divine Might, which would favor a Con/Wis build over one that tried to include KtA. I was kind of hoping to include Lay Waste if it was reasonable, but since I'm in epics yet I haven't sussed out whether that extra CC was necessary

Looking at unbongwah's Dwarf Fighter.. like what I see.. not sure if Precision is needed and since I'm taking 'Coat of the Traveler' (Medium) for the set bonus, won't need the armor feat. Thinking Competitionist and maybe Stunning Blow.. hmmmmm

    Default something melee

i started the game a few days ago and im lost in forums trying to find the right class/build for me. i got too used to following cookie cutter builds over the past decade that i bang my head against the screen when a game offers me some flexibility.. can you guys suggest me a build?

so far i tried fighter, paladin and unlocked monk and played them for a few levels with the most recent builds i could find that made sense to me. tbh as a new player i couldnt figure out much difference between them.

i play pretty mobile, always getting out of their attack direction and strike from flanks, i guess thats the way to do for melees?

what i need is a melee build i can play solo with until end game. im a big fan of basic attacks and like builds with lots of passives. i dont like to have tons of active skills on my quickbar thats vital for my survival, but to give me a boost on bosses or save my back in tough fights when things go south.

i wish i could open secret doors and locked chests too to not miss any optional tasks or loot in dungeons but i guess thats not compatible with the kind of build i ask for.

All you need to open Secret Doors is to "find" them first, and that means having a maxed Search skill. In DDO (not so in tabletop D&D), once you take a class w/ Search as a class skill, you can pay double-cost from any other classes ("cross-class" skill cost) and keep Search up to full value, 1 rank/level, and you have your Secret Doors, same as any class. (This assumes you also have an at-level Search item in your equipment, but that can be swappable via another hotbar, one you have time to mouse-click.)

Now, this in turn means you need more Skill points, so either a class w/ 4 or more/level, or a high(er) starting Intelligence, but it's very doable w/ many builds. (Note - Fighter class offers only 2 skill points/level (so would need more points in Intelligence), while Monk & Barbarian have 4/. Ranger has 6/, but iirc that leans toward a more "active" combat hotbar setup.)

For locked chests, same process but with the Open Lock skill, except the only classes that provide that skill are Rogue or Artificer. The good news is that while Search is a do-or-die threshold value (i.e. either you have enough Search or you don't), with OL you can re-roll as many times as you have tools to burn, so you can spend 1 skill point/level, take half-ranks, and you'll be fine for 98% of the locks in the game.

As for the build itself, the "low hotbar usage" is one that others will be better qualified to address - GL!

Thanks for explaining. so in case of a low int build, it would mean trading off all your class skills for search and open lock, which wouldnt be optimal i guess. and i get open lock skill only if i take a rogue level. is there any other downside to taking 1 rogue lvl other than not getting that buff thing they say you get for going pure class to 20?

I have a collection of nice Quarterstaves and I really like the animation with them.

I have done 2 lives as a Q-Staff user. One was a ROG/MNK abomination and the other was a MNK/ROG abomination.

Anyway here is what I was thinking I need.

I like to have a "OMG I don't want to die" button.

To me, this is a quickened Heal or a quickened Reconstruct.

I also want a "I take less damage" button.

That would be displacement or long displacement clickies.

Also, I would like my DPS to not be absolutely horrible.

    Also traps would be nice...

    So far I have considered:

Cleric multiclass with Luck Domain like a 12CLR/6ROG/2MNK staff user with INT to damage and T5 Thief-Acrobat. This gives me some bonus feats and Healing Burst and Heal spell.
    or
    12CLR/6MNK/2ROG for T5 Henshin Monk?

I also suppose 14Cleric/6ROG Elf could get War Domain with Holy Sword, and Thief Acrobat T5, Elf Dragonmark Displacement. This would mean 12 AP into Elf Racial Tree as well.

Of course 14Cleric/6MNK could have access to Holy sword and Henshin T5 and 3 Bonus feats. But it couldn't get traps.

Warforged Artificer with Renegade Mastermaker Reconstruct SLA, which would let me stop at level 15 for Deadly Weapons, but If I was willing to forego Thief Acrobat T5, I could possible run a Juggernaut type build. Aritificer gets a lot of nice buffs in general (also would be Harper INT to DMG).

Or maybe just a Pure Artificer with more focus into melee feats and melee buff spells and forego Thief-Acrobat (seems that the bonus melee speed would be tough to give up as would T5 Thief Acrobat)

And finally, 12WIZ/6ROG/2MNK This build would get a bunch of free feats (3 from WIZ and 2 from MNK). I do wonder if my HP would be a problem?

Or Maybe 12WIZ/6MNK/2ROG with Henshin Monk T5 Crit profile.

    Any suggestions?

18ftr/2rog - Kensei/Vanguard. Start off 2 rogue for qstaff haste and evasion, dump everything else in fighter. Easy faceroll build.

If you want more flavor go 12ftr/7rog/1fvs - kick it off with 2tog/1fvs for staff haste and divine might.

Both builds with heavy armor/stalwart defense.

Henshin builds are **** compared to Kensei/Vanguard builds following the nerf to Henshin.

    Default Reaper Heroic Ranger Build

hi every one it might be a common request but i can't find anything in the forum that fullfills my idea for this build.

i am looking for a ranger build to play with bow that also have trapping skills!

i need this to be good to play in reaper at least low skulls.

i have 3 monk 1 fighter 1 rogue and 1 doubleshot pastlife al +7 tome at everything

it also must not be iconic.

i have made this theorycraft but i don't know if it is good the idea is getting the ranged feat early to be more efficent while leveling!

There are no good bow heroic reaper dps builds:

Bows have a rate of fire of 31 + BaB per minute. Lets say you are level 15, with 15 BaB, for a rate of fire of ~1 arrow/second after gear and doubleshot sources.

Lets say you have a 9d6 force imbue, which you gear up due to being ghost touch and working on everything for reaper at 200 spell power, for 90 damage per arrow.

Lets say you deal 50 base damage per hit, with 20% bonus damage from crit, so 70 damage per hit physical.

Let's say you have a RL bow with 9d6 = 30 more damage on procs.

Let's say you have 20 sneak damage bugged to 30 sneak damage.

You will have a base 220 dps at level 15, before reaper penalties. At half damage in R3 you will deal 110 dps.

    -------------------------------------------

On R3, a Hero's Soul drider champion trash mob in Mines of Tethymar has 8k+ HP.

It will full heal at half health, for a total of 12k HP that have to be dealt to it to kill it.

It has fortification that you will bypass some of, reducing your dps from 110 to 100.

It has 50% dodge that cannot be bypassed by stuns, reducing your dps from 100 to 50.

In order to deal 12k damage and kill that heroic champion drider trash mob, you will need to fire for 240 seconds.

    --------------------------------------------

If your build takes 4 minutes to kill a non-named trash mob on low reaper, and has no other group combat utility, it isn't a good reaper build.

    These are really good considerations!

Maybe i will leave the idea of playing reaper since as my first ranger build i'd like it to be as easy as possible since my main goal is to do traps because my tr partner is going to not be able to do them!

Putting in 5 levels of clr might be too much!

    Default Aasimar Paladin

    Hullo,

Returning player after a long hiatus. I loathe TRing so consider it a new player build request.

Looking for an Aasimar Paladin build, preferably pure. Most likely will solo as I don't consider myself in a place to run Reaper, skill or gear-wise, at least not yet and it seems like all LFM's are Reaper. At the same time, after I get some gear and confidence, I'd be more prone to grouping.

I'm partial to a THF build, but won't say no to a solid S&B build either. I figured I'd follow the old Sacred Vanguard build, but I'm not sure which, if any racials are worth the investment. Scourge Aasimar isn't off the table either; I think I have a +1 heart somewhere, so if you feel like also throwing out an Iconic build, that'd be great.

    Many thanks and happy gaming!

It might be too little! I've been thinking about heroic bow builds, and my conclusion is that for AA to work later in heroic levels, you have to be spamming enchant spells to supplement your terrible dps. So a base caster class is best. Add in necro and terror imbue, and you have another regular ol' low dps necro/enchant DC caster. Cleric (domain with enchantment sla), warlock, wizard, sorc, or bard AA is better than ranger or monkcher AA for heroics. Just splash harper or falconer or attack/physical dmg off an offstat if you have to, and even use no damage stat at all. As per breakdown above, the physical damage stat is relatively a small part of dps.

    Default Solo

I am looking for a solid solo build. I have been out of the game for quite a few years and am finding some time to play, but not group much. I Like the trap monkey/tempest ideas, but not sure of the new tree system.
