I'm looking for a Warpriest build. Something that can live long enough in EE/L/Reaper while also heal for a group (healing is the easy part).
My first character was a Cleric healbot. Admittedly it was fun, but now I want to try something that isn't the bread and butter "First Life Cleric Healbot" build. I don't mind if my damage isn't top tier, but I would like to be able to swing at things to provide a little extra damage alongside using Smite Foe for all of it's benefits.
I don't mind if this character is FvS or CL, but here's what I want and have.
What I want:
- Warpriest Enhancement Tree utilizing it's Tier-5 Enhancements.
- Healing powerful enough to heal raids comfortably (again, should be easy with how powerful heals are in this game).
- High enough survivability to where I don't blow up in Epic Elite, Legendary or Low-mid reaper content in melee range.
What I have:
- Tomes: +0 Str, +2 Dex, +1 Con, +1 Int, +1 Wis, +2 Cha.
- Past lives: 1 Cleric, 1 Bard, 1 Sorcerer.
- I have time to get items that might be 'required' to use for this build to work.
- All races, all classes are unlocked except for Iconic Gnome.
I'd also prefer not to use Iconics for this. I will be TRing with a few friends who want to level from 1 with their characters. Using an iconic is less fun in that regard.
Thanks guys!

1st Life Halfling Pure Arti - Managed somehow to get to 30 and ER, Now I'm TRing {Not going to 30 a second time this life - No way!}.
Arcane Sphere - Done - Past Life: Enchant Weapon
Shadowdancer - Done
In Grandmaster
2nd Life?
What would be my best option?
Ranger Past Life?
Rogue Past Life?
Multiclass Wizard/Rogue/Arti?
I need a Build preferably for Svirfneblin so I can do some Destiny Farming - I will Iconic TR to 3rd Life immediately upon hitting 30 and having enough Seeds.

Pretty certain I have +2 to all stats so can get by with 16 base Dex. {Ah Improved Sneak Attack nixes that}.
How do I fit in Insightful Reflexes?
Why Light Repeaters? I usually use the best repeater I can get my hands on not caring if it's light or heavy.
Can I take a Ftr Level or even 3 Fighter levels instead of 1 Barb as the last two Rogue levels don't give anything?

I was also thinking about Spell Focus Illusion + Magister Twist for +4 Color Spray DCs.
You need base DEX 19 for IPS (usually lvl 15 or 18) and DEX 21 for ISA & CA in epics (lvls 24 & 27). How you get there obviously depends on what DEX tome you have. Which is why the build Tilomere linked start base DEX 18 + 2 tome + 1 level-up.
Gnome bonuses to lt repeaters: in particular the +1 crit range stacks with Expert Builder's +1 crit multiplier. Needle is 16-20/x4 in gnome Mechanic hands. Why Light Repeaters?![]()

Again...How do I fit in Insightful Reflexes? Which I tend to need to get even barely viable Reflex Saves.
Would 16 Rogue / 3 Ftr / 1 Wizard be doable? {That would also get me Stalwart Stance}.
Are CA and ISA Non-negotiable or can they be done without? {I don't really want to have to buy a +4 Dex Tome but I also don't want to start with 8 base str because of Ray of Enfeeblement and the like.
You have to drop a DPS feat, probably either Rapid Shot or Precision. EDIT: actually, now that I think about it some more, Combat Archery probably provides the smallest DPS bonus, so that would be the one I swapped, if any.
Anything is doable, but dropping Expert Builder is a significant DPS loss in exchange for +25 PRR/MRR. At which point, maybe you should consider rog 13 / ftr 6 / wiz 1 so you can take Strike w/No Thought to make up for it. This also helps with feat shortage and maybe you pickup Dodge+Mobility+Kensei bonuses to improve your miss chance further.Would 16 Rogue / 3 Ftr / 1 Wizard be doable? {That would also get me Stalwart Stance}.
You can skip them, but both feats are more DPS than a couple extra pts of INT; so put a few lvl-ups into DEX if you must, but keep the feats, IMO.Are CA and ISA Non-negotiable or can they be done without?

If you want to fit stalwart stance and want more feats, probably better do 12 ranger/6 fighter/ 2x (rogue for traps or pally for extra saves or barb for run speed or arti for rune arm or ranger for lvl 4 spells), Deepwood-kensei-stalwart-harper, etc
Or a pure 20 fighter is also solid repeater with kensei and stalwart tier 4 in heavy armor + harper. Or a Paladin 14/ rogue 6 with holy sword but more tight on feats.
(no need of deepgnome tree with those splashes for more free ap, since one of the main reasons of deepgnome invest is for the crit range with light repeaters for rogue builds (other reasons are the slas and few hit/dmg), but you get it with ranger 12 core or fighter kensei t5 or pally holy sword, and you are not restricted on light repeater crossbows)

I'm rather close to going with the 13 Rogue / 6 Fighter / 1 Wiz build for this life but Ranger and Ftr Past Lives will be of benefit later on too - Which past life would you do first though - Rogue, Ranger or Fighter?
I'm not going to back to mainline Arti till either all relevant past lives are done or Arti gets significantly upgraded.
As you can see Rogue, ranger and fighter are solid and viable for repeaters so it's more a matter of taste what you pick first for past life (maybe ranger or rogue if care of trapping).
About artificer i think is still good enough for heroics past lifes with a kind of critzilla caster build with some repeater dmg but as a complement (I haven't played a arti lately but have seen some ppl doing good in later heroics with them with aoe spell dmg and some cc most likely)
Taking a stab at this and incorporating Tilomere's idea of using Color Spray SLA + light repeaters:

6 Str and Zero skill points in Jump?
Even with a 8 Str item and a House Phiarlan Jump buff that only gives 32 total jump.
I'd take those 5 points in jump over Haggle any day.
6 Str gonna leave me completely at the mercy of any Str drain whatsoever and with Deep Gnomes having half encumbrance anyway just like Halflings picking up a single Heavy Shield is going to put me into Half movement.
Think I'll go with 19 Int, 16 Dex and 10 Str.
That way I might be able to get away with only having a +6 Str item/augment when I can't get perfect gear setup.
I've gotta go through full GmOF, full LD, full Shiradi, into Primal for Cocoon and full US before getting to DC - Don't think I'll be running DC this life.

I've been toying around with the idea of a follower of vol build for a while, since the benefits from the diety seem to be OK on paper (+6 hit, +5 damage with daggers, an active which grants PRR, MRR, Forification, Con and lifesteal...). However, I can't seem to figure out a build that can leverage these advantages effectively. I'm looking for something with sufficients amount of defense to make the con/prr/mrr/lifesteal worth it, while enough multipliers to damage to make the +5 damage worth something.
A pure fvs or a pure cleric would be lacking in the damage multiplier department, and the better multiplier of weapons like khopesh or even rapier would outweigh the benefits of +5 damage easily. Paladins are slightly better in all regards, but still have the problem that they have little reason to use daggers instead of a better weapon. I'm leaning towards a fvs splash, since they get auto-granted the feats, and I'm missing a fvs past-life.
Of all classes, I can only think of rogue and bard to have sufficient advantage to use daggers over any other weapon available to them; both can apply +2 threat range +1 multiplier to daggers (after IC); but for bard that only applies if swashbuckling.
Here's some ideas I've come up with: (All builds assume dual wielding daggers and dex-to-damage if available)
Favored Soul 12 / Rogue 5 / Paladin 3: This can take paladin cleaves so it doesn't need to get str at all (one less stat to think about). It totals 15 divine levels, which means a pretty sufficient duration and effect of the active and it can leverage +11 saves from paladin along with evasion from rogue and keep that assassin daggers 18-20 x3 base profile. However, picking up the 20% HP requires either heavy armour (no evasion) or a shield (no dual wielding daggers, and it must be a light shield to keep evasion) so it might be lacking in defense a bit.
Favored Soul 12 / Rogue 5 / Monk 3: Uncentered, since daggers aren't a monk weapon, but it could remain defensively centered for the two-stats to AC bonus. Monk brings 10% offhand strike chance to the table along with 20 melee power and 26 PRR. Unfortunately, lighting the candle requires centered state so that's off the table. And I'm pretty weary of a monk build which can't leverage the stances to its benefits.
Favored Soul 9 / Fighter 8 / Monk 3: This fixes the problem of being uncentered and grants a large amount of additional base damage to multiply (+12), with a healthy amount of melee power to multiply it with (40-60 from fighter + 20 from monk). However it goes back to the problem of having very little reason to use daggers instead of a better weapon, and it doesn't have the critical profile of the above builds. It however does not get truesight or heal, which are rather useful spells to have. It also totals only 9 divine levels, making the active that much less useful.
Favored Soul 17 / Bard 3: This has a large amount of divine levels to best leverage the active. It also has wings and pretty good fvs spells. It has the good critical profile (18-20 x3 base profile) and the option of some defenses with a buckler in the offhand. It however is limited to light armour and doesn't have evasion, which means the defenses will never be great (solid at best). Not much in terms of melee power, but doublestrike action boost can sort of make up for that. Will have a max of 1 dagger at a time, so it will heal less via vamperism due to less attacks per click (exception is when action boosting).
And, as a note I probably won't be playing this build for a while, so maybe I should just wait for the fvs update to see what it does.
As of right now, is there any way to leverage daggers with Vol into an optimal build, or should I just stick to Silvanus or Helm whenever I want to play a melee favored soul?
Selvera: Aasimar Fighter 20/Epic 10; Old and wise fighter.
Jen: Half Elf Fvs 4; Healer Archer on a TR with friends
Mayve: Drow Bard 14/Wizard 6/Epic 7; Vampire Enchantress
Remember that the duration of The Blood is the Life is based on # of Religious Lore feats; so the deeper the MC, the shorter the duration. With a 10-minute CD, you're looking at a max duration of 144 secs on a pure build; but like you said, you definitely want the extra bonuses from Swashbuckler or Assassin if you want a real melee build using daggers, so presume <2 mins.
I had also considered rgr 3 / rog 5 / cleric or FvS 12 for Tempest bonuses (+10% offhand) and maybe squeeze in Manyshot for the hell of it? Just making this up as I go...![]()

Looking to repurpose a lvl 2 from an old character slot. 28pt build, Dwarf. May as well leverage on already having done newbie island and some of the special items that have appeared in inventory over the years being parked. It seems I have a free heart I can use to transform and modernize.
I'm looking for a warchanter build with some rogue for trapping and locks, it seems often there can also be a lvl or 2 of fighter for feats.
The current build I had parked started with a lvl of rogue, then 2nd lvl was fighter. With a charisma of 13 and a str of 8, I'm not really sure where I was going with that (it was a long time ago), he could do locks, but not traps... Anyway I think I'll need to use that heart and kind of start over.
I'll mostly be soloing. I remember doing something similar a long time ago and I believe taking 15 levels vs 16 of bard is a big decision based on getting extra spells. I'm kinda flexible, however I could spend all day pondering the merits of deciding one thing over an other, which is why I ask for help, so I can actually gett'r done![]()
What I liked about the warchanter build was crowd control could be fun with fascinate etc, as well the warchanter buffs were always welcome in raids. But still being able to hold your own in melee is nice too!
I'm tempted to go two handed weapon just to make life easier. I always seem to have a TWF, so it might be nice to simplify and only have to carry half the weapons. Although when I did something like this before, I think TWF was one of the strengths of the utility bard build so I'm not sure...
Thoughts?
Much thanks!

The guards eye you suspiciously...
Dear builders,
Please can you create me a build that will:
Get me Warlock as past life
good zerging ability
Would prefer to be able to do traps and have evasion - but open to facerolling through them if warlock is up to it
Would prefer it to be mostly pure warlock as have never played one, so would like to get a feel for the class in general
I have:
36 Point spend
Most gear that would be needed
+6 tomes to stats
+5 tomes to all usefull skills
All classes/races/harper tree
This build will be TRed at 20, so only relevant to level 18 as will hold levels, obviously no Iconics allowed.
Many Thanks!
Do you really need a "Builder" for 18 Warlock/2 Rogue?
Drow Fey Lock/Rogue
Max Cha, 16 Int, min 14 Con, Do what you like with the rest.
Cha at all level ups
Rogue at Lvl 1 and Lvl 10
Feats: 1) Insightful Reflexes, 3) Spell Focus Evoc or if you have a Wizard Past Life the Wizard Active Past Life, 6) Maximise {won't become useful till you get Eldritch Burst and Spirit Blast but you may as well grab it now}, 9) Empower {Same as Maximise}, 12) Spell Focus Enchantment, 15) Quicken, 18) Up to you. 21) Epic Eldritch Blast 24) Embolden, 26) Epic Arcane Eldritch Blast, The rest up to you.
40+ points in Enlightened Spirit
20+ points in Tainted Scholar - Make sure to get Chain for use up to around Lvl 12 and situational use after Lvl 12 when 90% of the time you will be using Aura - Spend your first 15/16 points in Tainted Scholar, You can build up ES later. {You will want Utterdark Blast as well}.
Skills at Level 1: Bluff 4, Disable 4, Search 4, Open Lock 4, Spot 4, UMD 4, Jump 4, Spellcraft 2, Perform 2, Concentration 2, Tumble 1, Whatever you want with the remainder.
Skills after Lvl 1 on Warlock levels: Max Spellcraft and Bluff every level keep putting points in Disable, Search, UMD and Perform too.
Skills at Lvl 10 Rogue: Boost up Disable, Search, Open Lock, Spot and Perform
Radiance gear, Resonance gear.
Done!
Seriously DONE!

Thanks Fran, I really did need help, as I have no clue how they work!
Much appreciated!
Since it sounds like it's been a long time since you last played - welcome back, BTW - a brief primer on bards:
- Update 22 introduced a new bard PrE (Swashbuckler) and a new combat style (SWF) to go with it. Swashbuckler has significantly better melee DPS than Warchanter (WC); the downside is all the restrictions on Swashbuckling (only works with Finesseable weapons, light armor, & bucklers if you want S&B). Nevertheless, most of the melee bard builds you find these days will be based fully or partially on Swashbuckler.
- Update 31 significantly buffed Kensei with one interesting wrinkle: a Swashbuckler / Kensei who uses handaxes or light picks benefits from the crit bonuses from both Swashbuckling and Strike w/No Thought. [Handaxes become 15-20/x4 while light picks become 17-20/x5.]
- So right now the most popular MC bard splits are bard 15 / ftr 3 / rog 2 (for Inspire Heroics + Excellence) like Shadow Bard; or bard 3+ / ftr 6+ to take advantage of SB+SwNT like this build or this one.
- You'll also find builds like this one which focus on WC freezing atks. These are almost always PDK because of the DC bonus from Cormyrian Knight Training (CKT) + short swords.
- That said, if you wanted to stick with WC using 2H weapons, have a look at my Axesinger which takes advantage of Kensei buffs.
