The first line of the OPs post (now edited) can be seen in post #26. Read that and it's actually really easy to see why most people took the statement (whether it is just celebration or bragging or whatever) as they did.

Now, if they post and start it like "We just did DQ elite two man in 15 minutes. Top that!", people will take it as bragging and respond as such.

If you come out without any statements that directly or indirectly say "we're better than you", there's no problem. But statements that are like that make a problem.

Unless I'm mistaken, the blatant chest thumping that was given in the OP was a sarcastic attempt to poke at those that truly mean to brag on the forums. Maybe I was wrong, if so... my bad.

Remember, text carries no tone. Since sarcasm wasn't conveyed, it's no surprise what the response was.

And even though the OP stated it was sarcasm after the fact, the tone in the post stating that didn't help things. In fact, the OP was also fueling the fire.

Theres nothing wrong with a bit of good-natured competition between players and guilds and nothing wrong with feeling proud of your accomplishments. But when you're bragging or trying to make yourself look far superior to everyone else thats when people get annoyed.

I personally like seeing amazing runs and times. I think its kinda neat to see that someone figured out how to do X or Y quickly. Infact I don't even mind the challenge of trying to beat their time.

What I don't think Ashiyra realized is that the mentioned run is mediocre at best. Six months ago that would have been impressive but nowdays its not so much anymore. That doesn't mean (s)he can't be proud of doing it, especially if it was their first time on elite and that doesn't mean everyone else involved should feel like it was a worthless run but if you're going to make a post as such was made then you need to understand that people are going to get worked up over it. If you wnat to put out such an "elite" challenge then you have to make sure that you know it was a phenominal run and that the challenge is worthy because thats how people read it.

I think a thread dedicated to screenshots to show your accomplishments would be very cool. It could be a place where you can post any sort of screenshot without being attacked for what you did. It could be a place where awesome accomplishments are to be found. And it could give everyone a feeling of not only is our guild great for doing this but heck, we have some of the best players of all the servers right here on Sarlona. Let other servers try to top that
