Post Looking for "Old School" D&D players

What is The Mature Adventures Club (MAC) and why should I join?
A few months after DDO came out I went and bought the game and set up an account. Being an old time D&D player from the early 80s I was looking for that magic feeling I got from playing D&D. I missed the suspense of what behind that door. The thrill of building up my character (now called a toon) and finding that perfect item for him/her to use. Also of outsmarting the DM and his evil twist and turns of an adventure lol.
So I eagerly started playing DDO. Sadly my experience was not at all satisfactory. The groups I joined were nothing more than a bunch of smash and grab teenaged vandals who ran through a dungeon smashing and killing everything in sight giving no thought to the enjoyment or consideration of others. I quit playing for a few months and was going to cancel my account but I decided to give it one more try by finding people who enjoyed the “Old School” style of D&D play.
I made a post looking for old school players who enjoy playing D&D for the excitement of the game and low and behold there were replies to my post. We, the founders of MAC, met the 1st weekend after the 4th of July 2006. After introducing ourselves we started doing the harbor quest and we never looked back. We currently have over 100 members with about 30 hardcore players who are on almost every night. The vision of MAC is to get as close to pen and paper D&D as possible and most importantly, to have fun. Most of us have families and jobs and this is our way of having fun and unwinding from the stress of everyday life.
    Who can join MAC?
MAC has very few “rules” so to speak. One is that members must be at least 20 years of age. Yes, some of us are old and cranky (cough Bangum cough). But this is not a hard and fast rule. We do have members who are younger than 20 but they are the exception. If you are 18ish but still want to join us you must interview with the guild leader (Featherstone) and be placed on a probation membership. We also let the older children of members join but the parent member is responsible for them. Also if you’re a 40 year old adolescent you need not apply (Hint the “Mature” part of our guild name). Also you must keep your toons active, by this I mean you should log on your toon at least every few weeks. Toons that are inactive for 2 months will be removed from the guild list unless you inform an officer that your going to be away (we currently have members in Iraq). Any toon removed from the guild list is not booted from the guild; you are welcome to come back anytime just reapply with an officer. We want to try and keep the guild members list as short as possible with mostly active toons.
These are not “Rules” but are keeping with the spirit of MAC:
Play your toon anyway you want to play him/her.
You can sell items to other members and no one will say anything, but if you give items away you will receive it back ten fold, I guarantee it.
Act like an adult, because we all are.
Guys, leave the “locker room” talk in the locker room. We have many ladies in the guild and one of the few things I will come down hard on is language that would make them uncomfortable. In other words, don’t say anything you would not say in front of your mother or sister. (But I also understand when a $#@!^* slips out, no ones perfect :>)
We will help out people who are new to DDO. No one will call you a noob if you have questions or you do something dumb during an adventure that get everyone killed. That’s what makes it fun.
    HAVE FUN!
There are many others that you will discover after joining us, to many to mention here.
So is MAC the guild for you? If you took the time to read all this it just might be. To join just go to your social panel, click the Who tab, sort by guild name, find a member and send them a tell and they will put you in contact with an officer who will give you a short interview and a guild invite.
If you have question or want more information you can find us at our web site here:

Default Ask an ye shall receive (that's mighty patron)

This is exactly what I am looking for. I just had a sort of light rant to the DDO podcast saying it was tough to find D&D players because the vast amount of MMO players. I haven't started a char on your world but I will now and hope to join you groups.

    Default What toon level?

What level of toon is your guild/group looking for? I've only been playing a couple of weeks, and I've been keeping an eye out for persistent groups/RP groups/some-kind-of-group-that-mimics-DnD-play on Sarlona, but nothing particularly interesting has caught my eye. My primary is on Sarlona, but I'd be happy to roll up something new for Khyber. I am curious as to whether you've got a level restriction or preference, or any other restriction (i.e., class, multiclass restriction, race restriction, time zone, sock color, etc.).

By the by, I'm an old-skool D&D player - I've been playing off and on since the late '70s, when I acquired a second-hand copy of the original D&D rules. Since then I've played 1st AD&D, 2nd AD&D, gotten over my hatred of DnD 3.0, and am even coming to grips with the 3.5 (though I still think Haste, Heal, Harm, and Disintigrate were nerfed (all in the name of 'game balance' - pfft). Anyhow, I'm up on Eberron (it's really my favorite campaign setting), and would like a chance to play with the same people on the same nights. I can swing 2 nights a week for sure - I'm in PST, though, and I don't usually get home from work until 7pm local time. If the meetings were pretty concrete, I could probably make arrangements to be home earlier, unless a server crashes or some other emergency arises.

Anyhow, awesome to see that you've got so much interest. I'd be interested in hearing more.
