Selling returning throwers

Why won't the weapons brokers buy returning throwing weapons? They're permanent and reusable, but it seems like they're coded as ammunition and the brokers won't buy them. I can't see why the marketplace broker will buy my +2 greataxe for 900 gp, but I have to sell my +2 returning throwing axe to a vendor for 500 gp. Not a big deal on low-level stuff, but I've picked up a couple of decent returners that probably won't sell on the auction house, and it seems unfair that I can't sell them for the same amount as other weapons of comparable base value.
