Default Kudos Turbine for Searing Heights

I just wanted to say, amidst the other posts of constructive criticism, this is a very pretty area. Well done Turbine!!!

Thanks for giving low level players a chance to see an exotic landscape. The volcano is awesome, as is the view from the top. I like the suspended bridge to the spire overlooking the camp. The waterfall was cool as were the fingerlike outcroppings at the base of the mountain.

There were a number of people in my group last night the oohed and awed over the visual content.

And thanks for listening to the feedback from Risa and scaling back the difficulty on the area – 4th level characters no longer get smoked just inside the door.

I thought Searing Heights was kinda cool, especially some of the views.

We found a few great spots for our upcoming Battlemage video.

I also must say that the area feels very big, and has a nice variety of stuff to see and fight. I love the fact that you show the towers of the 12. I like the Sulatar city, and several times now I have had to run like hell to avoid getting slaughtered by an army of casters. Egads!

There's only one thing wrong with SH - no low-level Gnolls. I've been itching to use my +1 longsword of gnoll bane, and there's just no opportunity

If you get to the top of the volcano, and turn left, there's a small terrace where you can see the lightning very clearly, and the DM gives you exploration credit for the Towers of the Twelve.

It is right beside the "Proof is in the Poison" quest you were doing. The new gates to that area are right there. Good Luck!

Just like in CH, there were a few spots where we really just wanted to climb over those rocks and keep on going up stream or deeper into the mountain and actually spent some time trying to find a way and finally conceeding that since we were at the edge of the map (on the map view screen) that the game would not let us go where no toon has gone before.....

You can have some REAL fun with feather fall in here. Makes it real challenging with having only clickies.... Think about jumping from the House D tower with nothing but a FF clickie...that is a rush...

A couple of jumps I was able to burn multuple clicks on the way down....

Yeah Turbine, I was impressed with the views, had to take a couple of screen shots from the mountain with the sunrise in the background. Haven't been scared in this game in a while, but jeez, after getting rat-packed by those wolves, I was in fear for my life.

Oh, and the heat waves coming off the lava is something seen to be believed. Spectacular.

For everyone who enjoyed the "fun" of jumping off House D tower and trying to Hit the Statue in the courtyard, we have a number of new base Jump locations in this area.

We have some cliff diving into a shallow river. We have some high bridges that can be jumped off, and some very high cliffs you can jump from as well.

Doing those jumps with only clickie...kinda like base jumping with a packed chute. Gotta pull it in time, but not too soon or the clickie wears off. And if you have not cleared out the landing zone, LOTs of mobs spot and chase you...such fun.

I am really, really enjoying the new area. I especially like the sense of the place sitting between Cerulean Hills, and the Twelve, and how it changes as you get closer to the Sulatar.

Like a High Altitude Low Opening Commando? Now imagine a six pack of halfling commandos in a synchronized H.A.L.O. jump raid

I tried that, but not intentionally. It was thrilling running for my life across an unknown wilderness. I finally got dropped by a named black wolf but stablized at -4 HP where I discovered a handy exploit.

If you are incapacitated in the Searing Heights then log out and back into the game your incapacitated body will appear outside in the market before the gate. A nice samaritan wandered along and healed me so I didn't take an XP hit.

I finally got to do this area in it's entirety and I was definitely grinning the whole time. There are some great views, especially in the lava flow valley and approaching the drow village. Finally finding the Lone Tree and feather falling down to it was the high point probably.

I also would consider the amount of work that went into it the equivalent of probably 3 regular quests.

    Kudos.

I just LOVE the heat waves effect near the lava cave. Is it just me or is that a first? I don't remember that effect in Fire Caves, Scorched Cavern, Burning City, or DQ raid.

It's a first and was very VERY cool. However some constructive criticism Id like to give. Areas like this are fun. Not always a challenge but definately fun. Why must they always be level restricted? Regardless of your level Discovering something is still a discovery. So maby earning the slayer points for being to high a level is not going to hapen but it'd be nice to have a reason to go into Searing Heights other then to just look around once and be done with it forever.

I guess Im just frustrated that in order for me to truely enjoy such a great new area I have to, yet again, build another new character. I don't want to knock low levels because we all have to be there at some point. Can you please develope an adventuire area as cool as Searing Heights for those of us not under level 10? Gianthold was fun, the Desert, while not bad is still old, but Searing Heights is by far the coolest new adventure zone and is limited to those of low and mid levels. Maby extend Searing heights into another area further in with higher end content?

long story short: Searing heights is AWESOME but wasted on low levels.

I like it but I found the mob's a little harsh for the areas intent. For an area that is intended to allow solo-duo-trioing, the combo of sound burst/web, mixed with the damage spells cost, and the number of casters makes it hard.

As a low level, I was able to solo it, but I suffered many, many deaths, and later had to go into the Betty Ford clinic for potion addiction. This is a with a highly twinked warforge paladin. So I feel it is too harsh for low levels. The experience gained kept me able to gain a LITTLE benefit, but not for the time spent.

I also went with a 7th level level paladin guild member, who went with my WF paladin to duo the area. Again, we had couple deaths, and it was because we were spammed with web and sound burst by multiple casters.

That being the case, I expect there is a bit of a balance issue. Either the exp rewards should be increased, the likelyhood of casters being spawned instead of melee types be reduced, or the number of spawns reduced.

Otherwise it is not really reaching the goal of solo-duo-trioable.

And don't tell me I should have said this on Risia. Why would I play on something that doesn't advance me?

Where did they say the goal was to make it playable by up to three melee characters?
