Final release note - Abandoning story goals?

"NEW – Story quest goals that are advanced by the completion of raid dungeons can no longer be abandoned."

I'm just trying to figure out what this was referring to. Since it wasn't released until today, it was probably a way to get around something, but I'm confused about what.

Hmmm, maybe you could abandon the last part of the Reaver quest, then retake it from Cydonie, thereby circumventing the timer?

I really have no idea myself.

Why. you can be on VON1 and be running VON 4.

just have people not take the quest, till all four are done, and rerun on hard, with someone else's flag, and rerun on elite on a third persons flag.

That is all legitimate running.

Ziggy, for normal law abiding citizens of Stormreach, it really doesn't have any impact. It was an exploit fix.

While certainly sound thinking, this is still in the realm of opinion.

With that in mind, perhaps it was meant to stop people from rerunning pre-raid stuff, but as Ziggy said, that wouldn't stop it in light of multiple members advancing at different times.

Perhaps it's for this reason: Once you've completed a dungeon, the timer doesn't start counting down till you get your reward. Perhaps it was possible to abandon the quest, forgoe the (rather crappy) end reward, and start the mission anew without a timer being started to begin with.

Rather than starting the timer on quest completion (as would seem a sane move), they went through the coding gymnastics of switching the raid quests to undroppable except, perhaps, upon restarting the base mission. In the case of the Von series, when you take the mission from the guy behind the bank. Being that you can't take the mission till the timer wore down, the only way to restart it is to go through the loop again. At least, that's my thinking.
