    Default The June update

I have been playing for only 7 months and i haven't seen a update yet, but this update is almost half a month late, i have two questions...

    1. When will this update come out?

    2. Will this delay all further updates?

This is not the first time a update is late. Every time it happen, you will discover that the Dev dont tell us why or what is going on... when it will be publish and so on.

And to answer the other question you have. Yes, it will delay the other updates (but again, the other update are about the so hatred Litany of the dead series. A series that i know know one who like them, but they are planing to do 6 of them total. What i waste of time and resources.) Those quest are always 'maze' like dungeons, which is most of the time long and boring to do, have undead to kill, which again are boring, have too much ac and so on. Anyway, you do them once for favor, and never come back again.

There were earlier posts. I just don't feel like finding them.

But that post very clearly says what's going on (QA found some bugs) and when it should be released (next week). So since he says that they "dont tell us why or what is going on... when it will be publish" and they have in fact told us those things, he's quite clearly wrong.

As MT showed, we were informed it was being pushed back and even told WHY it was being held back and WHEN it was expected to be released. So his original 'wrong much' holds. Turbine's been pretty good about letting us know if an update is being pushed back and why, and usually give us a revised released date at the same time.

And as for being here 7 months and not seeing any updates....HUH?

There have been a fair number of updates in the past 7 months:
    • 13 Dec 06 - Update 3.1 = Evil Resurgent (Whisperdoom, Dreams of Insanity, House J missions, new social GUI)
    • 24 Jan 07 - Update 3.2 = Litany of the Dead, Part II (Necropolis missions, XP regen)
    • 12 Mar 07 - Update 3.3 = Academy Training (New enhancement system)
    • 12 Apr 07 - Module 4.0 = Reaver's Bane (Gianthold, Level Cap = 14, Cerulean Hills, Explorer/Slayer quests)
    • 22 May 07 - Update 4.1 = Mark of the Dragon (Dragon marks, Pally/Cleric/Rogue enhancements, Ataraxia's Haven, Tangleroot & Sorrowdusk exploration areas, spellpoint adjustment, AoE spell changes)

In the past year+, I think this is the first time that DDO has been off by an entire month in their release schedule. They usually do extremely well at putting out a release every month.

There are several things about DDO that I complain about, but the frequency that they put out updates is not one of them.

Klyde (DPS Barbarian) / Sojourne (Rogue, Trapsmith) / and many others

What about the people who don't read the forums religously? Who's splash screens still say "Coming in June". Sure it has been said in a couple of threads but you would only know if you happened to read that thread. Even in the thread that MT pointed out, we weren't told that it wasn't coming out 'the week of the 9th' until someone questioned what was happening.

I want my upgraded AH interface darn it

As I said before, there were other, earlier threads that discussed the update being pushed back, though they didn't give an exact date (though they hinted at one) or a precise reason.

The bulk of your comment is a good one though. The large majority of players don't read the Forums much, if at all. All they've had for the last two weeks is a loading screen that says "Coming in June."

They really should have fixed the loading screen as soon as they realized they weren't going to make the june deadline.

i hope youre not talking about the posts where they first claimed it to be a typo and then later admitted it was just a missed deadline, because that thread was started by a player, not turbine, so id still say THEY didnt come out willingly and announce the update was going to be late, and trying to call it a typing error? that's pretty lame

link to a post created by a turbine employee with the announcement and explanation created before the one i mentioned above, id love to see it

I actually like the Litany series, but it doesn't give out enough xp for the time invested to actually warrant running them more than once.

Umm.... urrr.... Im not sure what to say to that, but I'll give it a shot. You just stated that you enjoy the thing but then immediately showed one of the MANY reasons why so many hate it. If anyone TRUELY loves a quest they're willing to run it over and over and over again even if the XP is gone. Why? For one of a few reasons. First reason would be for loot. Well Litany of the Dead is worthless on that count. Next would be for sheer enjoyment of the quest. Well you just said that you like it but not enough to run it for the sheer enjoyment of it.

Always nice to have a Litany supporter show up and support why this is such a poor quest series. Please come again.

Obviously this 1 was going to be delayed and i see no problem in a minor delay.. would you have rather them rushed it out and pushed the fixing of the problems that affected the welcome back weekend back?

I dunno, I think the reason most people rerun quests is becasue of the loot, not becasue they "enjoy" the quest. Some think PoP is the most boring played out quest ever but they still run it for loot.

Overall I liked Litany of the Dead as well, except that other people dont like it so its hard to find a group. Loot and reward could be better but the quest line overall is enjoyable to me except some parts where the ghosting/phasing gets out of hand.

Watch, everyone hates LOTD now but once there is a raid with uber loot it will be a whole different ballgame

I generally agree except that completing both parts gives you a 100% chance (if you simply follow instructions) of getting one of the most useful items in the game - the Silver Flame necklace. That's death block and 5 charges of absorb negative energy. A great item for almost any character.

I can't wait to see if it can be updated eevn further in the new series.

And since you can be assured of getting that item (unlike most other quest items where it's a roll of the dice), that makes it a pretty good loot quest in my opinion. At least for one run through.

And the fact that it's 100% chance is why people only run it once.

Favor already gives people decent incentives to run things once, the real trick is getting them to run it more than once.
