    Question Appearance altering

I know that many of my friends have expressed interest in being able to alter their appearance (i.e. color, face, hair, etc.). This would be especially handy for players who have been on for a long time, to kind of reflect their in-game "age" (I actually know some players who have been on since BETA). I think we should vote or petition to try and get this as an added feature, especially given the fact that $20 is a bit pricy just to change your name.

i agree ... on everything other than the "aging" thing

if you want to look old, be able to look old from the beginning.

    Default Character Age

Hmmm, it's an interesting thought....But have you considered limitations and ramifications?

*How fast would we age? Would 1 year in DDO be a decade? Or would it be tied to level? Would all the races age at the same pace?

*Is there a cutoff limit to aging? I mean am is my cleric going to become wrinkled and sunspotted? (Will he shrink? Most old people I know do that...)

*Mortality sucks...Beyond a certain age our bodies begin to break down. If they age our character models would they begin destroying our stats as well? Age 50: -2 STR -2 Dex -2 Con

Personally I'd rather my in game characters not age. I don't want to be forced to reroll because my tank is to old to continue adventuring.

I think it should be just an appearance thing (the aging) and not actual aging.

You can alter your characters appearance to add lines, greying hair, circles under the eyes, etc.

DDO needs more customizable characters. If I want to play a fat little halfing I should be able to make my character fat.

    Default Appearence altering

I just wanted to clarify what I meant be "age". I used the term in reference to how long soneone has had an active account, not to having the characters actually grow old. What I was thinking was, for players who have been around for a long time (say, a year or so), they could have the option of selecting from a wider range of appearance options than someone who just purchased the game. You could even tie this in with one of the updates.

    Aging would help my wizard.

But seriously, we want a barbershop at the very minimum. It would be great PR to finally have that installed.

One of the only things I liked about Vanguard was that you could, at any time while logging in, change your appearance with full access to all the factors you had at character creation. The only thing you couldn't change was race and gender.

I really see no reason not to allow this in any game. Appearance doesn't actually affect anything (except RP, which is entirely in the hands the player just like their appearance would be).

Not to mention the lighting in the character generator is horrid. what you see is NOT what you get. I mean, on the character generator, my wiz looked fairly decent. I start to play and she looks... not so good anymore.

This is esp true of the WF lighting.

Aww.. but we've got the sai looking daggers, katana esque long swords, no nunchucks or rope with hooks, and of course, I've not seen a plain quarterstaff at all.

    So 2 out of 4 isn't bad.

Emm.. if WF could get dragon marks, would it be considered graffiti?

Saddly, yes, it was. It was a female ninja turtle trained in mystic arts. It was on the short lived Fox live show TMNT: The next Mutation. (only reason I know this is because I saw it once or twice on TV, and I just looked it up for the turtles name as I couldn't remember it.)

Rumor has it, as I don't know if it is fact or not, but the creatures have stated that the character never existed, they disliked it that much. Frankly I don't blame them.

You could always leave the TMNWF template and try to make a samurai/ninja bunny, a la Usagi Yojimbo.

    Default Very good idea!

What if we decided that what we thought looked cool 8 months ago, we now dislike?

I think that a barbershop, where a haircut/style costs say ...1k gp would be awesome. If you want, put in a 3 day waiting period before doing another.

Even http://www.runescape.com allows "haircuts" and "hairstyles" and it doesn't compete with DDO as far as graphics go!

um ... while we're at it ... how about wigs? they would be worn as helmets if we wanted ... lol

Actually.. with the new redesigns of the transformers, you could always make Bumble Bee.

As for the rabit... emm.. well, we have the armor and he headpiece, as it would block the ears that way with game graphic mechanics. We've got the katana like longswords. Saddly, we don't have any graphic for foot gear sandles.

Speaking of graphics, I need to resurrect a dead thread. I pulled some UGLY armor during loot weekend. Saddly I think it was my greatest pull just because of the comedic value of it.
