Yeah I just finished building my new gaming righ

    3.0ghz AMD AM2
    4gb ram
    BFG 8800GTX 768mb ram

and the Very High Res are insanely upped compared to High Res. The biggest difference is water, it's a chore sometimes to even see clearly due to the murkyness and reflectiveness.

I just put an 8400GS in my dock and am in the process of re-installing the game from the CD, so I hope to see these amazing textures soon! (94% at the moment...)

Look for the high res data file in your DDO directory.

In yet another thread Im going to ask this with likely no response: I bought the CD version at launch, and it absolutely contained the high-rez textures. It gives me the option to install them when installing the game.

Am I the only person out there w/ the CD version and high-rez textures?!?!?

dont forget, your CPU also helps with graphics, just not as much as a card with a dedicated GPU. I got a dual core 3.0 gig pentium d, 1 gig ram, and a nVidia GeForce 7600 GS that was specificly designed for gaming by BFG Tech. if you guys dont know what it is... visit this site to take a look at it http://bfgtech.com/bfgr76512gsoc.aspx thats my card, and i hardly run into any lag, if i do, its only in quests when a lot of stuffs going on in a small area.

    Default Works?

Well my awesome new system is now running high res on the live server.

Don't know yet if it will get any issues but I was able to use the risia file and haven't noticed anything yet.... Keeping my fingers crossed as I love the higher visuals.

It gave you the option, yes. But did it actually INSTALL the "very_high" res files?

The word from on top is that only the DVDs actually have the files to install.

I thought that too so I checked it last night. I have the highrez.dat file at 1.6 GB, so Im guessing that yes, it did. I also get comments from others who play the game that my graphics look better at max then theirs, likely because of the textures.

For someone who does NOT have the high rez textures: Do you get the option for 'Very High' graphics settings?

I just don't get it. Why am I the only one w/ this? Not that I mind, I get the high rez textures on my CDs.........

My CD's have the option for high res, but I haven't used them to install the game since I last formatted my computer, so I dont know if it actually installs the high-res files or not.

But, with my downloaded client, I do get the 'Very High' graphics option, it just does nothing different than 'High'.

I tested my graphics settings by switching very high to high a few times. I definitely see a difference between the two settings. The very high settings almost gives a look of a high anisotropic filtering. So, I'm thinking that the CD version does install the improved textures. Im going to download the Risia client and test this.
