Life is not like a box of chocolates...it's like a jar of Jalapenos, what you do today can burn your Ar$e tomorrow
Well once again I got screwed by downed servers. What a waste of vacation time from work...
An extra day of +1 loot an 50% XP doesnt really cover it.
The whole welcome back weekend for returning players gave them more of a reason to stay away than ever...
Looks like it's time to go check out Vanguard!

So if we pay 15 bucks a month, that's .50 cent a day.
Since I coudn't play on 3 days at times when servers were down, does that mean I'm only going to get charged $13.50 this month?
Although, that wouldn't put a dent in the money I lost from taking off from work for nothing today, it would be fair.
Lets see thats $1.50 every player is getting charged for times we had problems or couldn't play. I wonder how many DDO subscriptions there are, several thousand?
Turbine do the math, and figure out how much free maoney you just made
GREAT JOB, I'll add this to the successful white collar crime list!
I work at a Court House. I'm going to have to print out the DDO Terms of Service, and then I'll see if DDO Subscriptors are entitled to file a lawsuit!

Quick question for you... does working at a court house make you an attorney or something? If so, that would mean everyone who works at a University smart? I only assume you are not a lawyer since most attorneys tell everyone what they do within the first two to three words of their first sentence of every conversation they have had since graduating law school.
Back to the point..Although I often feel that there should be some sort of monetary compensation for extended downtime, the EULA covers downtime and you not being compensated for it. Working at a courthouse you should know that you can contract your way around the law and/or what seems right/justified. That is why good contract lawyers make big bucks.
WOW if you think server down time sucked, check this out.
I found all my primo weapons had lost the bane effects and descriptions on all my toons on the xoriant server.
I spent over 4 hours waiting for the next level of GM to assist me to never get a response except an email saying they have closed my tickets..lmao..
My muckbane has no bane effect listed in description or in the combat damage logs.
I lost tons of greater banes from all my freeking toons and now you want me to start paying again to play this game........LMAO!
Hell with down time get some real customer support to fix issues with players and not prolong the wait or bad expereince of not getting the proper help.
Hell they got voice coms in game HAVE YOUR GM"S USE IT TO TALK TO THE PLAYERS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!!! Dam cut and paste responces suck and get nuthing accomplished.
The only way you could pull this off is if you could prove that Turbine somehow had unjust enrichment due to this down time and that the down time was intentional.
1. They were not unjustly enriched as server maintenance etc. is part of the EULA agreement you sign when you enter the game. They had to PAY some IT techs to come in on a weekend to fix the problem. Not sure if you know what the going rate for IT techs are, but they ain't cheap.
2. It's virtually impossible to prove that Turbine intentionally sabotaged their own servers and not only that, even if they did, the money that they would make from this weekend would be no where near enough to cover the loss of revenue of people leaving the game.
WOW, I hope you call Turbine's Customer Support to get that resolved, or some type of compensation. It would be easy enough to prove if you traded a GM PC a Muckbane that had no bane on it.
I hope they do something for you.
If that happened to me, I would beyond wanting to quit the game...
That is way worse than downtime.

1) I'm sure they called in exempt on call server analysts for the fixes. No one would use a contractor for such things. So It's likely they didn't lose any money there.
2) Ya I'm sure they lost a good amount from people leaving the game due to the server hickups all weekend and Monday. So does that make all the people who stayed suckers?

Hey, one of my Guildies told me on Sat. not to even try getting on, the server suck so bad that some players were giving away their belongings and canceling their account. But I got on about 30 min. later on the same server and despite the long log on it all ran normally. Ran a couple of quests in a PUG got some good loot and lots of XP. No complaints here! Many thanks to the Turbine/DDO crew!
I only do what the voices in my head tell me to do....
I think its funny how every time there is unscheduled server downtime, people start crying foul and that they should be compensated. It happens people. Server loads go up that dramatically, there's going to be hiccups in the system. Regardless of whether they have outside contractors for IT or in house, those problems take time to fix. When I played WOW, you know that little game that has ten times the subscriber base that DDO has and thus ten times the revenue, it would have three and four day long server downtime. And low and behold, the same thing would happen with people crying foul. Vanguard is going to have the same thing. Hell, the only MMO that I have played that didn't have intermittent down time was City of Heroes/City of Villains, and that probably due to the low server volume. So if you are going to cry foul and want compensation every time a a server crashes in a MMO, you are better off to give them up altogether. There is no crash proof server or games, its going to happen, sometimes for several days at a time. So quit your complaining and deal with it like an adult, because whether its right or wrong, EULA is going to protect the developer and publisher from any type of legal recourse from server downtime...
I personally didnt get a chance to participate all too much in this event. my wife however did and many of my guildmates. I personally dont blame anyone for the problems, things happen. overall the game is very enjoyable and few problems exist on a regular basis. for the 50cents or so a day we pay for the use of the game i dont think anyone should be complaining./

with that i probably wouldnt recommend doing another such weekend during a holiday were people will have other things to do/planned. do these things on an off weekend where max participation will be most likely. also i would recommend not doing this after a major or minor update or hotfix event. it seemed to flow much better the first two times you guys had these events.
I enjoy these events and hope you continue to have them on a regular or irregular as you see fit basis!![]()
Thanks to all who signed on for the WBW2! Since its now over I'll close this thread.
